I agree. We need to just take the best player available at 10 and round out the bench.

This upcoming offseason isn't the offseason to try and spend big.

Just to be clear I want to bring back the same team. Ayton learned his lesson and we will have him back for an entire season.

Keep Oubre if he can be had for a good price. Draft a good bench player and come back hungry for next season.

My only concern with Oubre is next season is a contract year for Oubre and he probably doesn't want to come off the bench.

If he becomes disgruntled hopefully James Jones is smart enough to move him and not wait until the trade deadline or let him walk for nothing.

I think as long as he's getting 30 minutes a night, he won't care if it's off the bench or as a starter. Now, if his minutes start to dip into the 20-25 range he might complain, but as long as he continues to produce at a high clip, I dont think he has anything to worry about.

Paul George has been inexcusably bad but there is no way in hell he's getting traded let alone for Kelly Oubre and filler. If we traded 3 1sts along with Kelly then maybe but realistically it's not happening 1 year into things in LA.

The only stars who are likely to be traded in the next 12 months that we could be interested in and have a shot at imo are Ben Simmons and Bradley Beal.

For non-stars, I'd look at Josh Richardson, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Landry Shamet if they were available.

George is useless for any team trying to get far in the playoffs (like Clippers) because he’s awful in the playoffs.

For us, we’re trying to make into the playoffs by playing well in the regular season so he can very effective for that. We can dump him later too once we solidify being a perennial playoff team.

Of course they would. That's like #10 for a top 10-15 player, since Oubre an upcoming FA anyway. And he is just having a bad playoffs this year. Last year he was scoring over 28 ppg on over 58% TS%, 8.6 reb, 3.6 ast, 1.4 stl.

Could you imagine Rubio/Booker/Briges/PG13/Ayton? That's a playoff team for sure. And a bench with Baynes, Saric, Cam and our backup guards plus whatever rookie would be tough.

Yeah I would do the trade from a Suns perspective of just trying to become a playoff team. However, I do think George doesn’t have as much trade value to playoff teams (because of his well earned reputation) than he does to non playoff teams. He may have been decent last year but he disappears in big moments. Also half the league hits game winners on him.

I used to like him a lot when he was with Indiana but he really has a trash personality as well.

But yes I would still do that hypothetical deal mentioned above.

Our draft record speaks for itself. I don’t think it’s that unreasonable that some would rather trade the pick if we can get a proven impact player than to spend it on an unknown.

Especially for a draft that’s being projected by many to be the worst since 2013.

Of course I wouldn’t just trade the pick for the sake of trading it. Like the Saric trade for example.
Cam Johnson has been pretty good for us, and I don't care if he was a "reach". James Jones is not McD.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I really like him as a cheaper defensive 2/3 option than in trading for Richardson, IF Vassell is off the board. What do you guys think he would cost?

Maybe, But I would see it like this honestly. Also, depth is a good thing with our teams' unfortunate likelihood for injuries. In those situations, there'll be plenty of minutes to go around. Also with multiple lineup possibilities, and we might even explore the possibility of exercising " Load management " at times during the season too.

- Rubio/ Rookie/ Payne.
- Booker/ Holiday/ Carter.
- Bridges/ Cam/ Holiday.
- Cam/ Oubre/ Saric.
- Ayton/ Saric/ Rookie?

Or maybe

- Booker/ Rubio/ Payne.
- Bridges/ rookie/ Carter.
- Oubre/ Cam/ Holiday.
- Cam/ Saric/ Bridges.
- Ayton/ Baynes/ Rookie.
*** Jerome traded for a 2nd ( center depth).
*** Lecque ( G league)? :dontknow:

Be honest. You want the entire league to play for the Suns. You've gone through every team's bench and made a hypothetical trade for almost every player.

I do like Holiday though.

I think the next step for our team is utilizing Cam Johnson in a similar manner the Heat utilize Duncan Robinson. A super floor spacer and is taking a lot of shots from 3. I know Cam has more game than that, as we've seen him drive to the bucket and get a dunk, but he should really be taking 8-9 or so 3's a game.

I do agree we should just run it back and maybe make some minor tweaks towards the end of our bench. Draft BPA at 10, keep Saric, Baynes, Carter, and Payne, grab 2 vets for end of the bench roles, and 2 G-League hungry players.

For added depth? Sure!
But honestly, Don't you think it's a bit excessive to say every team? it's only like half the league currently!  :tooth

Honestly man I get it. You and others are occasionally "put off" by my propensity for trades. And you'd just prefer to keep the roster as is, and roll forward. That's perfectly fine, And you're entitled to that perspective. But I have a differing perspectives that we need to upgrade center positions with more productive, higher quality depth. So with respect to that, I explore ways to accomplish that. And after all, isn't that what an offseason and Trade speculation thread is for? :dontknow:

Have at it! I'm not really put off per say, just think many of them have the value severely lopsided in one team's favor. Continue posting, who knows when the season actually starts and I think many of us enjoy the chatter.

Am I alone in thinking that all of the Holiday's are more fool's gold than not?

Embiid sounded like he was done with the 6ers today. Should the FO pursue?

In a heartbeat!! Booker and Embiid are a nightmare for opposing teams. Not sure if the 76ers would accept Oubre, Ayton, 10th pick.. we might have to throw in multiple 1st rounds picks or Cam or Mikal. I vote draft picks!

Rubio Booker Mikal Cam Embiid paired with Monty sounds great to me!! Embiid is EVERYTHING we want Ayton to develop to.

I agreed not straight up but if we can get a 3rd team like NO, who is a perfect fit, to take Horford they just might bite. That helps them out immensely considering they're on the books for 149 mill next season.

Return to Phoenix Suns
