Took us to the brink every year before we were robbed by the zebras. I will always maintain that the refs applied a double standard to us and the Spurs, allowing them, but not us, to play physical D. The "no handcheck" rules went right out the window whenever Bowen was guarding Nash.

You know Ryan and Hornacek wants to improve our team at half court offense. That's why we drafted Warren and Ennis. So going for Monroe is normal. If we can handle these half court offense stuff when the game has slowed, and we are already good at fast-paced, transition offense game, we would be unstoppable.

The problem with Monroe is, his shooting range. If we put him to 4, then we won't have a spacing unless Len takesover the 5 spot with his improved mid range shot. If we put him to 5, then there is no defense with Markieff.

That's my point. SSOL is heavily influenced by referees.

All they had to do is get us into foul trouble early on each quarter and our entire game plan changes. Pop is a genius and he knew this. That's why they attacked Amare early and constantly. That and the fact Marion went under the **** pick and roll every time. Parker just had to pick his spots and shoot.

With a banger down low you are more versatile.

Good info there! I wonder if we can hide him on D. Also, can we pair him with Plumlee? What does he do to our spacing? If the FO thinks we can make it work, I trust.

Also, what would we have to give DET to let us take him? I think they'll want Ennis. I say, okay, if you'll give us Will Bynum and a future first. If they'll take Green, I'll think about it. I love Gerald, and I think we could get him back on a reasonable deal after this one expires.

How exactly do agents get paid ? I know they get 4 or 5% of a player's salary but do they get all the money one time or monthly or what ? Someone break it down for me please.

If we pair Monroe and Plumlee our backcourt must to be something like Nash- Ray Allen- Reggie Miller (in their absolute primes) to have good spacing.

I agree with the comment about SSOl sucking in the playoffs

It'll never ever work

Possessions slow down, play slows down it's a grind

SSOL is a cool regular season thing to make casual fans happy

No one gives a shiz about casual fans here

I want lots of rings

As Pat Riley says "no rebounds no rings"

Get Monroe and pair him next to Plumlee/Len.

Monroe Kieff Len Plumlee is a good front court for rebounding and depth

If we overpay for Monroe though, DRagic is gone he won't take 7 mil a year given his production.

That's the dilemma

I don't think you can tie up two near max or max deals to your backcourt when they're undersized and neither aren't lights out shooters and require space in the lane to operate dribble drive and score.

I think Detroit is going to come down to a decision between Josh Smith and Greg Monroe. I think once LeBron, Melo and Bosh sign, things will start moving.

I think if they can move Josh Smith they will and match any offer for Monroe (Monroe has threatened to take QO if they don't move Smith...he wouldn't, but he's threatened).

I think they may try and move Smith to Sacramento for a deal for Isaiah Thomas. The problem is that they then wouldn't have a pg and not much cap space. At this point they would probably try and swing a deal with Boston for Rondo, and I wouldn't be surprised if they gave up either McLemore or Stauskas, one of their power forwards and a first round pick.

If they can't move Smith, they may try to S&T Monroe...probably ask if we would swap Bledsoe.

That being said, Goran isn't a max player at his age, right? Right?? Sure he is a steal right now, but worth $20m for 4-5 years? No thanks. I love the guy, but he won't be worth $20m when he is 32 or 33. Blah.

Mark Cuban is that you? Same logic he applied when he let Nash walk to us. Just sayin...

People throw around max like it's a universal term. It's not. Max Goran = Max Lebron at this point. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Goran is nice at about 12 per, not 20-some per.

Although I get your logic, he isn't worth a MAX, like I said.

One thing I've just thought. In all the scenarios where I've considered what DET would want for Monroe, I've thought the obvious answers were Ennis or Green, both of whom I don't want to give up. But one solution that may work for both sides is the Morrises. Not that far off in value, DET would really lack a true PF, and the Morrises don't make sense next to Monroe, while they would also require extensions next season (money we'll already have dedicated to Moose). I'd love to get a couple second rounders in the deal as well. Does this make sense?

With all of this talk about Monroe..

#Pistons Head Coach Stan Van Gundy Re: Greg Monroe "We want Greg back. But it’s got to be a mutual thing, too”

Does that mean if he shows he's not committed to DET, that they let him walk? I don't know about that..but it'd be nice if we didn't have to waste MAX on him like that.

I think he is going to Cleveland BUT most players move their stuff from their NBA city to their home city in the offseason...

Both in Larry Coon's CBAFAQ and here http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/salary_cap the 2014-15 max contract amounts are not listed.

But look at that realgm link and the max column and you can see the max buckets by year. Right now Goran's max deal (if he were a FA) would fall in the first slot, same as Bledsoe (0-6 years in league), but after next year he jumps into the next bucket (7-9 years in league). LeBron is in the biggest bucket (10+ years).

The max salary buckets have been separated by about $2.7 million per year for starting salaries.

Guys like Kobe, Melo, LeBron etc can exceed the biggest max because you can also always start at up to 105% of your previous salary as an exception.

But yes, Goran will have a bigger max than any guy coming off his rookie deal next year.

Hope all that makes sense.
