Corey Brewer's contract is really bad that's the main reason they had to give a 1st rd pick.

Huh? Lou Williams for a #27 pick would be good. Not having Brewer is even better for the Rockets.

Exactly, Houston got a sixth man of the year candidate for a bad player and a very late first rounder. I doubt that PJ Tucker's expiring contract can get the same value as Lou, but I guess we'll see. If the rumors of the Lakers having multiple suitors is true, they probably took the most value they could get.

Scola for Plumlee and Green was a good one, if a first rounder isn't possible that's the type of deal.

Lets not pretend like the Lakers have some competent front office now. Magic Johnson is their head guy for crying out loud lolz.

Pacers gave a 1st rd pick in that deal too iirc.

further evidence it's unlikely PJ fetches a first rounder

I think PJ probably has a slightly larger number of suitors. My hope was that would drive up the asking price.

If anything, this deal says to me McD is going to wait until 2:59pm to pull the trigger on a trade of him.

Who knows, maybe we get a young guy to bet on and a late 2nd.

Isn't next year, two years past two years?

Yeah I'd wait to see if someone gets desperate and gives up a 1st but then pivot to taking a flyer type player. Hell I'd roll the dice on guys like Bryce Johnson, James Young, and maybe even Bruno from the raps. The other thing the suns could do is send their 2nd round with PJ and get a first rounder back. That way the team sending out the 1st is really only dropping down 10 or so picks in this draft.

Thinking back we didn't want to give up pick 29 for Pau Gasol.

Feb deadline might just be a buyers market.

We didn't have a shot at winning a ring. We were just trying to make the playoffs.

Tucker going to Boston, Toronto, or Washington gives those teams an outside shot at getting to the finals as PJ is as good as anyone at defending Lebron and other elite players.

His biggest weakness is in transition, and the playoffs are a halfcourt game where all he has to do is stand in the corner, shoot, and crash the boards.

If that's not worth a #22-#29 pick (especially if we offer to send a 2nd rounder back) then F-it.

I like the idea of landing another 1st rounder just to say that we have 3 first round picks (Miami, Miami, and Tucker trade). GM's can sell "oh sure we may have traded -SUPERSTAR- but we got 2....I mean 3! 3!!!!! first round picks for - SUPERSTAR-! The GM can sell it easier to the fanbase.

Or maybe we can flip that 1st rounder and Brandon Knight for Jahil.

Mitch clearly wanted more than that pick and Pau wanted no part of Phoenix, completely different situation. But I think you're right about the midseason deadline favoring the buyers (most of the time).

If the Celtics can land Drummond, they are going to be crazy.

IT/Bradley/Crowder/Horford/Drummond

If they can use Smart/Young/Zeller/Olynyk/Brown and their draft picks to land Buttler AND Drummond, that is going to be a beast in the east for sure!

Transition as in leading the fastbreak, you mean.

Suns trade Tucker, gets Detroit 1st

What are you talking about?

When did he claim he had sources other than using http://www.blazersedge.com/ for info?

Actually, I live in Portland and when I read that rumor I was like "Huh, this is weird. Dame is like their Kevin Johnson there's no way they would trade him." Which is why I typed the post that you quoted. Not much later I see Blazersedge facebook post come through and say it was garbage, I then come to the board, share my new found information and pat myself on the back.

P.S. I'm still waiting for someone to take me up on my rayray bet. In case you missed it, if anyone can prove within the last 5 years that rayray nailed any trades with a credible timeline I will let you customize my sig and avatar with whatever you'd like.
