Stoudemire said an extension was still a possibility, although he would not confirm our report that he did not ask for a maximum-level deal and that the Suns had offered two additional years beyond his player option for next season.
"Obviously, I want to have a sense of security," Stoudemire said. "With that being said, I'm not really going to get into the years and dollar signs right now. Ultimately, we just want to make sure that we both accomplish the decision we make and go from there. We haven't got to an agreement yet but we're getting there."

Or, Stoudemire could sign a contract extension with the Suns, a subject that was approached in the last few weeks.
"I'm not sure," he said of what he is planning to do. "I'm just going to wait until this off-season to figure out what the best decision is," Stoudemire said.
If he is to sign an extension, Stoudemire said he most of all wants a sense of security.
"With that being said, we're not really going to get into the years and the dollar signs right now," he added.

Sounds like he's going to opting out...

Next, let's say Wade, Bron, Bosh, JJ all resign with their current teams (possible); NY then wants Amare.

Nash/ Rich/ Chandler/ Lee/ Lopez with Dragic/ Barbosa/ Hill/ Dudley/ Clarke/ Frye/ Amundson would be better than anything we could have gotten in a trade anyway.. you could argue that Chandler+Lee = Battier+Scola but meh, at least we get 27 more games of the current team.
Or, if people don't consider that team good enough to be competitive, NY would still have enough room to take Nash off our books. Shame they don't have any picks left until 2047, Hill would likely also opt out and join them in NY.
Lots of flexibility this summer, good thing we didn't force a move just for the sake of it.

Maybe after the new CBA becomes effective but I don't see any team wanting to sign Amare to more than 3 years and certainty not 5 or 6 years.
