A couple of other players I think would be good fits on this team would be Adreiane Payne and KJ Mcdaniels.

This season he is a bit of an unknown and projects to be a mid 2nd round pick. If he does decide to enter the draft, i would love for the Suns to nab him with a late 1st, but again, i dont see him entering this draft when he can go much much much higher in 2015.
Yeah I would say he stays another year but I think he would be a 1st round pick in this years draft especially once scouts see him in workouts. I'm just excited to see this guy in the NBA.

Walker is going to end up playing in China/dleague unless he changes his game a lot and starts looking like a basketball player.

How can you jump to that conclusion? Thats a huge leap to make. He's only averaging like 6 minutes a game because he started the season extremely late so he hasn't really had the time to improve through game experience or at least show whatever improvement he has made.

Re: 2014 Draft Thread
Because he is a headcase, not like Beasley', but on the court, he does not know how to play organized basketball and the guy wants to be a pro, and a star, he has the wrong mindset.
Right now he has 0 skills that will translate, if he stays in Florida until he is a Junior and work his assoff, then who knows, because he is a pretty good athlete with good length (he is always going to be a weak defender, he is a PF and his frame is never going to allow him to defend inside that much).
But I believe he won't, I've seen him several times in high school, playing against really weak competion and not really displaying any tool, or any sense of teamwork.
The guy is not just raw, he is below that.

Re: 2014 Draft Thread
To me his frame suggest he can fill out and given his length and athleticism I think he can be more than an adequate defender and he could become a rim protector. As far as headcase I'm not sure where you get that from because I haven't seen anything suggesting that. Like all players they need to be developed so coaching and game experience is the biggest way he's going to learn but I think if he's on a team like the Suns where they have two ball handlers that can set him up and a team that plays fast paced then I think that would fit his game extremely well. I agree that it would be in his best interest to stay in school for another year but next year he's going to be a starter on Florida since Patrick Young is leaving and I think he will only get better with the experience of playing on a big stage and playing high pressure games.

Re: 2014 Draft Thread
Doesn't anyone think Chris Walker has a bit of Hakim Warrick in him?
He doesn't seem physical enough to get inside the paint and score or get a shot up.
He is very athletic... But he isn't exactly a good jump shooter, doesn't have an offensive arsenal that can make him a reliable face up PF.
Or he could be developed like Robert Horry....
But Robery Horry had high IQ, skillful enough big man who can shoot the Long range...
Robert Horry type would be great for the Suns...
Prime Rasheed Wallace and Robert Horry is the perfect PF/C for the Suns...

Rodney Hood really worked on his shooting during his year off - nearly 43% from 3 (65/153) and 82% from the FT line (95/116). 52% on 2pt shots and 44% on shots not at the rim (better than Parker). Unless he tanks in the tourney there's no way he falls out of the top-10 IMO.

yup I like both those guys as potential pick in the 20's. Payne at the very least should be a nice energy big off the bench. I like kj more than Payne. He's got the potential to be a great defender and I think he'll shoot a decent 3% in the pros. He feels like a McD type pick, very athletic and if he can improve his jumper and handle (and the fact he's a good ft shooter makes u think he can) he could be an outstanding late round value. He has the length and explosiveness to make it in the pros.Buddha640 wrote:A couple of other players I think would be good fits on this team would be Adreiane Payne and KJ Mcdaniels.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I thought we only have one second rounder this year. We traded the Laker one in one of the deals this summer, I think it went to Mil, in the Dudley for Bledsoe deal, right?
And it really sucks that the second round is strictly on record, so while we currently are a lotto team, our second round pick is six spaces back because all the East teams suck.

BB IQ is really underrated. Players with tremendous physical ability and low IQ tend to be washouts unless they just have instinct (Shawn Marion). The list is long: Tim Perry, Hakim Warrick, Stromile Swift, Shannon Brown.
Players with high bb IQ, even when their physical ability is suspect, seem to find a way to make themselves useful if not as stars, then in role player situations: Jeff Hornacek, Steve Kerr, Jared Dudley.
BTW. I won't be too disappointed if we just miss the playoff. We will have shown free agents our potential and we can jump from #20 to #14. #14, #18, #30 gives us better picks, and much more trade leverage.

Re: 2014 Draft Thread
Chris Walker reminds me of young Andray Blatche.
And I dont see the potential to be any better than that, if he stays 3 years at Florida under Donovan, maybe he can be a good pro, but most likely I see him ending up outside of the NBA, just the way he plays, he does not know anything about ball, how to move, how to pick his spots, he thinks he is a SF and wants the ball, he is pretty weak as a defender and he is always going to be even if he is athletic, he has the mentality of a star in a pretty bad team, I'm not a believer, maybe he grows up a lot, and then who knows, but for now I will remain sceptical.
The other side is Hood like somebody just pointed out, coming from a terrible situation at a horrid team in MSU, with all the talent in the world and 0 BBIQ (See Moultrie problems in the NBA, when the guy has the talent to be an All Star, but he just does not care, or even know, how to play), and getting in Duke, playing Robin to Parker, and being such an efficient role player, the guy has the ability to create for others and for himself, has improve his handle a lot, and even if he is small for a SF (6'8 in height, but pretty bad wingspan) he knows how to be smart on both sides and works hard.
I don't think I will pick Hood top10, but he will be a player, and with a late lotto pick you are getting a pretty solid starting forward, reminds me of Jimmy Butler but being a specialist in the other side of the game, offense (Butler has also length issues to play SF, but he works pretty hard and has an insane motor).

Re: 2014 Draft Thread
I guess we just have different opinions on Chris Walker cause when i see him I see a 6'10" SF/PF that runs the court like a PG can handle the ball well in transition, is long, super athletic, and has decent mechanics on his jump shot which will most likely improve with coaching and experience. Though that opinion is based on his physical assets because there isn't really any game tape to make a conclusion on how he plays on the floor. I mean defensively he has the tools to be a great defender and rebounder, considering he plays with high energy, and offensively I think he could be great given his athleticism, agility, and quickenss. His IQ might not be on par with someone like Lebron or Kevin Durant but those guys are once in a generation type players and I wouldn't put Walker in that category. If he's on a team where he isn't forced to make too many decisions, like the Suns who rely on two PG's and an increasing amount of teams in the NBA who going with that lineup, then I think he could be a dangerous weapon. He is young so he has a lot to prove but given his physical abilities I think the talent is there, its just the fundamentals he needs to work on, like all young players, and the experience he needs that will give him a better understanding of the game. Considering the Suns will have multiple 1st rounders this year I think taking a risk with someone who has a high ceiling like Walker wouldn't be that bad of a decision, though I think he's going to wait till next year to declare so he can improve his draft stock.

Walker does not run the floor like PG... Maybe against the normal 6 footer trying to play basketball.

Re: 2014 Draft Thread
Well over the next few weekends we should be able to see how good these players are when the stakes are high. Wiggins with a monster game today. McDermott with another 35 shooting over 60% (including 7/10 on 3s) today after getting 45 in his last game.

OK he runs the floor extremely well for someone his size.

I would be happy if the Suns drafted Montrezl Harrell with one of their picks. He looks like a beast. His explosiveness reminds me of Amare or Barkley. Could be a good energy/intangibles type of guy for us at the PF.

Re: 2014 Draft Thread
I wonder if McD is at the ACC, Big 12 or Pac 12 tourneys. Quite a few prospects playing today.
TJ Warren just led NC State to upset Syracuse, with 28/8/2/2. Jerami Grant looked good too with 19 and 10 (on only 7 shots). They both got to the line quite a bit. I'd rather have Warren but Grant might not be a bad pick either.
Meanwhile, Wiggins shot 33% as Kansas got knocked off by Iowa St.
Some pretty big upsets so far today in championship week. Hopefully AZ isn't another one.
