Stretch the contract! And only Knights contract! The only thing that gets stretched.
Seriously tho, Knights playing style from as far back as the Pistons concerns me. Last thing they need is low bball IQ player coming in to run the team in a crucial development year.

Piston fans did not like Knight.
Bucks fans hated Knight.
Suns fans think Knight needs to die.
There is a reason for this.
Ball stopper, streaky, chucker, turnover prone, benifited from a weak eastern conference for one year, and now he has torn his ACL which will further limit his already lazy defense.

Yeah Knight doesn't really have a spot here anymore. Next year we can draft a PG if there's a good one available with our pick, or sign someone like Marcus Smart or Elfrid Payton. Ulis and James as our #2 and #3 is perfect.

Knight is going to be next demanding a trade. We don't care about losing him but we do care about losing face at this point, another player demanding a trade just adds to the list of mismanaged personnel. This needs to be nipped in the bud before its time.
Having a fringe all star season, finally making a name for yourself, then sacrificing your role to be relegated to the bench all for a guy who just got fired. Yeah, he's definitely gonna voice his opinion when he's healthy.

Gambo suggested Mudiay (taken pick 7), Hernangomez (taken pick 15) from Denver might be the best deal we could get as Ntilkina, Brogdon, Murray are off the table. I'd rather a pick to either draft or trade a better prospect.

I like Juancho but that just makes a log jam at PF with 3 kids from the same draft needing minutes.

Kerrsed wrote:Ok, just got done listening to Gambo (Link in the spoiler).I hate to say, i have to agree with him. A few things i took away from the show:Spoiler:
Love how he called Shultz out on his BS. Him and his dad are in good with Watson, and thats where he was getting his limited info from. Watsons out, and so Shultz is now just throwing **** to the wall and hoping something sticks.
Despite what Shultz said, we are still talking to the Bucks.
Now, the Brandon Knight thing. I wish the "Search User Posts" function was working here on RealGM, because i brought up Knight the day Bledsoe tweeted. Look, he played great in Milwaukee. We trade for him and he was just ho-hum for the rest of that season. Thats to be expected, going to a new team with a new system that you're expected to run (Specially out of position). 1st full season with us and he did great! Bledsoe was out for the year, so Knight was able to actually finally play PG, and put up like 20/5/4/1. Sure his percentages could be better, but still pretty good for his 4th season playing. I mean, let us also not forget, Knight was a celebrated Kentucky player!
SEC All-Freshman Team, First Team All-SEC; SEC Freshman of the Year, First-Team All-SEC, SEC All-Freshman Team.
Along with his HS credentials:
McDonald's All-American (2010)
Gatorade Athlete of the Year (2009)
2× Gatorade National Player of the Year (2009, 2010)
So he has the track record that shows he can be a great player. So why then has he been considered a failure here in Phoenix? Simple, HE IS NOT A SG! Sure, he is considered a shoot first PG, but thats a lot different than a SG. With the ball in his hands he can create more and get himself better shots (Hitting a higher FG% than being stationary in Watsons offense). His 1 season as our PG, he did pretty damn good. His season and a half as our SG, numbers down across the board with his %'s taking a major hit.
Look, he is 25, still under contract, and has negative trade value around the league, so we are pretty much stuck with him. If we can turn him into a usable PG than that $13M a season becomes a steal. He has pretty much been **** on since he's been here, but has also taken everything in stride, and just soldiered on. If anyone follows him on twitter or instagram, you saw how hard he was working on his game during the entire offseason. I say next season we might as well give him a chance and throw him the keys.
Let James/Ulis/Booker finish out the season. We dont really NEED a PG in return for Bledsoe. Get the best package available regardless of position.
That sales pitch of Brandon Knight sounded a lot like my uncle pushing life insurance.

Re: Season Speculation, Trade Ideas & Discussion Pt. 2
Too much to go thru all this, and I'm pretty new here, so here's a couple of my thoughts:
1. That Denver offense is pretty awkward -- so their guards are hard to gauge/assess in trade right now. No need to micro-analyze every single Mudiay game this season to see if his percentages are getting better.
2. Nobody needs Knight back. He's done in Phx after he recovers. Buyout or bust.
3. The longer Bledsoe stays "home" the better the trades will get as deadline nears. No need to get junk like Nuggets PG's, Okafor aka Kanter 2.0, or pretty much anything else discussed here EXCEPT Brogdon.
4. If Bucks were willing to do a Brogdon/Bled type deal, it would have been done by now. Obviously they don't wanna trade him.
5. The echo chamber sucks here in Phx anytime it's trade-related. Just sit back and watch James/Ulis run the show this season.

I'm happy to take Bledsoe to draft day, he will be worth more than whatever we flip for him.
Bledsoe, Pick 6, Pick 18, Pick 36, Pick 48, Pick 50.
Gives us the best ammunition to target the final piece in (someone like) Doncic or Bagley while we can focus on winning with young players this season.

Re: Season Speculation, Trade Ideas & Discussion Pt. 2
It's amazing how different the east is than the west. People were talking about how Brooklyn won't be a bottom 5 team, and I do like a lot of their players, but I looked at their schedule so far....Pacers, Magic, Hawks, Magic, Cavs, Knicks. I don't know which teams will finish at the very bottom in the east, but they haven't even played the Bulls yet. Those teams will rack up wins against each other. Meanwhile I see OKC and Minnesota battling and teams like Denver with losing records. Everyone in the west is going to kill the mid to bottom tier in the east. We might be better than quite a few teams in the east but will finish with a worse record just because of the conference. I've already mentioned this but it's worth pointing out again...all these teams have to have wins when they play one another. There are so many fewer of those games in the west. I will never pull for our team to lose, but I think despite being potentially better than a number of teams, we still very easily have one of the worst records, which bodes well for our pick. As long as the young guys develop, I am happy, and if we play really well and do better, obviously I am happy because our young guys are developing and learning how to win. But as far as draft picks go, it's better to be in the west this year because wins will be much harder to come by.

Anyone else think it's hilarious that when Knight got injured Gambo said he was done in Phoenix. Will never play another game. Today he spends 2 segments on how Brandon Knight is now the best PG on the roster and should be allowed to be the starting PG when he returns so we don't need a PG traded back to us in the Bledsoe deal. I wonder who got in his ear and made him do a complete 180. Hmmm?

Its the exact reason they need to get rid of the whole East/West conference. I mean they could just take the top 14 teams in the league for the play-offs, but you would still have the issue of Eastern Conference teams playing against each other more than against the West (Even though the West would still dominate the overall standings).
Gotta eliminate the Conferences!

Gambo's segment sounded like radio entertainment, I don't think he really believes Brandon Knight as starting PG is a good idea. He was starting PG in 2016 when Bledsoe was injured and shot 39% FG over 4 months. Nobody from this board to our FO has even mentioned Brandon Knight in the past week.

Hey Suns fans, thanks for posting the Gambo radio podcast!
Took down some notes from it to try and get a handle on what a Bucks - Suns trade scenario might look like. Seems like Chandler being in the deal is a particularly big x-factor.
- Bucks won't put Brogdon in the deal. Value him as a player but also his contract given upcoming cap challenges.
- Jordan Schultz is close with Earl Watson, so biased. Said a trade wasn't going to happen but don't believe it: the Suns are still talking to Milwaukee.
- Ramona Shelburne says Denver and Milwaukee. Milwaukee has combination of expiring in Monroe and other assets, but no awe-inspiring deals.
- Mudiay is not that good. Hernangomez is not bad. That package would be ok.
- Rich Paul is going to have outrageous contract demands for Bledsoe. Teams like him at $14 million but not at $23 million. Paul will be very difficult to deal with when that comes up. McDonough made it harder to do a deal because of emphasizing Rich Paul.
- Marc Stein says the Suns would like to deal Chandler as part of the deal. Duh. Of course they would like to get rid of that salary. To get rid of Chandler in a Bledsoe deal you would have to give up a first round pick or take back nothing in return. You will get so much less in value you won't be able to go back to your fanbase and say you got a player you like for those two because no one will buy it. His value is nothing, he's an ok player, no one wants to pay him over the next two years.
- Suns might still do it to try to get to major cap space earlier to make a big play in free agency to get Avery Bradly or Jokic or George or Cousins. Or they could just get a lesser deal where they don't get back anything that is going to help them and you just get rid of Bledsoe and Chandler.
- Bledsoe is damaged goods because of the agent and how things went down. Have the impression this is going to take a while for the Suns to create a marketplace for the kind of deal they'd be happy with.
- All the deals so far are very blah. Similar to what happened with Kyrie Irving, teams did not want to give up top assets to get him. Much higher regarded player though. Whether it's the Suns fault or Bledsoe's fault, worried the marketplace is very cool on Bledsoe. Not getting the sense there is a real burning market, McDonough is trying to create that perception there are 10 teams who want to trade for him to get 1 to bite.
