As for Booker for MVP talk. I think he should be MVP. How is it held against Booker that the Suns have a great supporting cast around him. It sucks for Jokic and Embiid, but records should matter.

I personally don't think Book should be MVP, I put some weight in MVP needing to be a top 3 player - which Book isn't IMO.

That said, I think he should be closer than people think - It's so obvious watching the team that when book isn't out there we miss his scoring punch, his strength etc and we get really bogged down. I put his value above CP3's this year personally - which is a common knock on his MVP case.

I'm fine with Booker not being MVP. I just wished he gets talked about more as a candidate.

As for the potential $200m+ extension should he make All-NBA (he will), it is just the cost of running a successful business as an NBA owner. If Sarver can't handle that then he should just move on

I think there is a good chance he finishes 4th behind the two Cs and Giannis.

Chris Paul was our best player for 80% of the season though Booker came with a rush when he was out, think there's a bit of recency effect with MVP talk.

[Jordan Simone] Booker just walked off the court saying “I’m back”!!! Saw it with my own eyes!!

Do with this as you will.

Book has always had the tools to be a plus defender but a lack of motivation, poor defensive schemes and the offensive load he was carrying meant he didn't put much effort on that end of the court. Now that we do have that system, we do have the defensive guys around him and we now have the motivation to be an elite defensive team, he's been really solid. Comparing it to the first 3-4 years of his career, his defense is night and day

I'm surprised Monty said 3 years, but I guess he's not going to say he sucked his 1st year there. But he's gotten significantly better his last two years. Especially this year. Well, especially when Paul got there and told him how important that is if you really want to have a chance to win every night because offense will come and go. Crowder knows this better than anyone.

Booker finished fourth in voting and not a single post trashing him ON THE ENTIRE FIRST PAGE of the MVP voting thread in the GB, saying that he's a product of Chris Paul, reminding us how he couldn't win with a roster of D-leaguers, how the Suns won a 2 playoff games without him, how he complains about double teams in practice games or how he picks fights with mascots, courtesy of one Mr Puddles derailing the thread.

It was close, I didn't think it would be possible, but a dream doesn't become a reality by accident - it takes hard work, dedication, blood sweat and tears.

Enjoy an actual thread on the GB celebrating an achievement by a Suns great without a single Booker hater rearing his head to ruin the mood.

I took one for your team. You guys are welcome.

A lot of people on GB like Book. Dallas wasn't good in at least their first year with Luka I don't think.

Anyway, who cares what some people think? Yeah, he couldn't win with a bunch of scrubs. It's very rare. Most of those guys are out of the league or end of bench 3rd stringers like Jackson and Chriss.

Ulis, Okobo, Bender, Chandler...he did have Bledsoe for awhile but I never thought he was great. Tyler Johnson not great.

I hate the notion fans have thats like, Player X isn't in the GOAT conversation and can't carry a team of scrubs deep in the playoffs e.g. Cavs Lebron, therefore he is complete trash and shouldn't be praised.

Basically everyone outside of prime lebron, needs a good team to win.

I've always felt Booker was easy to hate as he has come off as overly-confident to the point of arrogance as soon as he came into the league despite not exactly having the college resume other higher profile draftees brought to the NBA. Couple that with a reputation as an elite trash talker and being the figurehead of a high volume, empty stat guy early in his career, it's easy to see why a lot of people harbour resentment from Book's early days and even easier to hate on now that he's a star in his own right, playing with CP3 (who a lot of people seem to hate as well) and being on a successful team the last few couple of seasons. Success always breeds resentment

I don't know, don't feel like he is more arrogant than average young NBA star. Don't think he is the nicest, most humble person in the world, but if you hate him for being arrogant then you probably should hate half the league.

I think there's levels to it. I always thought that 70pt performance introduced him to more haters than if he hadn't put up 70 on the C's in a losing effort. That really cemented him in the minds of many as the prototypical empty stat guy. It didn't help that he's also one of the biggest trash talkers in the NBA especially when he hadn't won anything yet, let alone have a winning season.

Almost certainly Booker will want an all-NBA defensive team in his career portfolio. Bodes well for the Suns.

The Phoenix Suns and All-NBA guard Devin Booker are finalizing a four-year, $214 million supermax contract extension that he’s set to sign as soon as next week, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Booker will also be the cover athlete for NBA 2K23, per sources.

This deal is only good if he's the reason for a superstar joining the Suns, e.g. Durant. If he wins a title for the Suns as a Robin to that superstar it's not a bad deal.
