I thought the Hawks were only speculated here. I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere else honestly.

I wasn't even aware that they had serious interest in KD and actually aggressively tried to trade for him at the deadline last year. But it makes sense as they're already desperately trying to pair a star with Young to convince him to not leave in 27 free agency! Or sooner by demanding a trade.

So with Atlanta as another legit suitor, they could actually field a really great offer for KD (maybe top 2 in value) alongside of San Antonio or Houston?? A package around Jalen Johnson or Dyson Daniels/ Terrence Mann/ Bufkin/ filler/ 13th pick/ 22nd pick/ ATL 29' 1st or ATL 31' 1st?? What about a package with Risarcher?

Not to ge a dick to KD, but if we somehow didn't get the full value were looking for from other teams, I'd absolutesly look at sending KD to Atlanta to get back a package with Johnson who'llbe an allstar SF soon or Daniels aw a 6'8 1st team all defensive PG AND lottery picks too

OG is a solid PF who can also play SF, He is tough, he is a super elite defender and he is a team player who can adjust to whatever role he is assigned.
Robinson is huge and an elite off rebounder. He does not offer much more offensively, but he can set really good screens and roles very well to the basket for an alle oop. We need players that can get advantage of that. I mean, good passers and players who dribble well and are patient enough to not rush the pass. Not the best off tool, as he lacks post moves, shooting capacities... everything. But he is a solid presence.

If we just could send Beal to Orlando for Bitadze and a decent role player, our situation would be much different. Then we would need to find a solid PG.

XXX
Booker
Dunn
Anounoby
Robinson
-----------------
Gillespie
Allen
Bol
Oso
Bitadze

May be it does not sound as much. Probably the Rockets offer is better.

Wont happen so point is moot BUT, if we got Robinson, we would need a + point guard coming in.

Point Guard situation could be solved with either an O'neale/ Martin / Richards to Washington for Marcus Smart/ 40th pick (use to replace Richards with Neiderhauser, Zisarky, or Goldin)??

Or

O'neale/ Richards/ CLE 27' 1st/ for Ball/ 45th pick (used to replace Richards with one of Neiderhauser, Zisarky, or Goldin). Then resign Lonzo Ball to a new deal, and use the KD trade to get more assets and cap flexibility to sign one of Adams, Lopez or Capela in free agency??

Now we'd have addressed our starting guard and center options with either trade. And we could save Allen to use in an Orlando trade for Bidatze as our backup center option if we like?

Durant is the first thing that needs to happen because subsequent moves will be what type of team

If you send Durant to Houston or SAS - -and get younger, well not sure you do the Smart move, but maybe Allen for Bizatde and getting cap space
But if you send him to the Knicks and are more primed to win, may be that is where the Smart move to be more competitive

I get what you're saying about going younger at PG. But really who would that be in free agency or trade? In doing the Smart trade with Washington, we're moving O'neales' long term money in the trade and turning those fringe pieces into a 22 million expiring contract and another pick that'd give us a cost controlled young athletic positional option in addition to whatever we'd pull from a KD trade.

IMO we're not going to contend either way, so Smart, even if not in top form anymore (to me at least) represents a legitimate defense oriented stopgap expiring option that could still compliment Booker perfectly, AND could mentor any young UDFA guard options we might target like RJ Felton or Brandon Stroud or Sion James (all powerful similar archetype guards) that he could mentor forva season before he expires.

And the 40th pick could be used on any of Niederhauser, Zisarky or Goldin at backup center on a 4 yr cost controlled deal to replace Richards expiring too. Possibly even Kalkbrenner if he fell a few spots for some reason?

But I'm only looking at Smart as a complimentary stopgap expiring option for us that'll free up 22 million for us when he expires while picking up another pick in the deal and getting off O'neales' 3 more years of money. I'd call that a win for us (separate from a KD trade) as a fringe move to give us better flexibility and assets.

Why I'm mentioning the O'neale and Allen trades I've suggested. For the cumulative value exchange that'd allow us flexibility to make other moves as well.

At worst, getting expirings earlier will be a benefit

Knicks going after Giannis? When they see the cost of Giannis -- that OG, Robinson and Kolek for Durant won't look so bad

No way will Durant want the Hawks. No team is going to trade for a 1 year KD rental if he won't extend.

NY has to be regretting the Bridges trade now. They could have used those picks to entice the Bucks.
The only shot NY has is:

1. Milwaukee REALLY wants to continue to contend and would be fine taking KAT or a combo including Bridges, OG, and whatever else.
2. Knicks spin off all these players for more assets to move to Milwaukee. Like Bridges and picks.

I just don't see it

Gambo mentioned those teams, but Heat instead of Hawks.
I'm sure there will be teams like Atlanta considering KD. But to no fault of Atlanta, he won't want to go somewhere that has 0 chance of competing for a ring with him.

KD's best bets are Houston, Spurs, Knicks, Wolves

A late 1st you say??? ......lol.
He is technically a starting level center. And at the cost of only a late 1st, could be a good floor spacing fit here.

1- O'neale/ Martin/ 29th pick for Vucevic.
2- Allen/ Richards / CLE 27' 1st for Isaac/ Bidatze/ 25th pick.
3- KD trade for Vassell/ Barnes/ Sochan/ 14th pick/ 38th pick/ ATL 27' 1st.

** Trade Vassell/ CLE 29' 1st to Washington for Smart (expiring)/ 18th pick ( MEM 25' 1st).

18- Raynaud. Gasol/ Sengun.
25- Thiero. OG Anunoby.
38- James. M Smart/ D Bane.
52- Goldin. Ivaca Zubac.

Smart/ Booker/ Dunn/ Isaac/ Vucevic.
Paul/ Trent Jr/ Sochan/ Nance Jr/ Ighodaro.
Gillespie/ James/ Thiero/ Raynaud/ Goldin.

It's true, I forgot to add the Heat.

Well, that's nice group of teams and I expect another mystery team interested in KD.

Regarding the Hawks...IDK, I think they can be pretty good adding KD trading mot of their picks, Okongwu, Mann and some filler.

Trae
Daniels
Risacher
KD
Capela

And they have LaVert and some other good players on that bench.

Yeah...a long shot but the Hawks can offer us a better package than the Heat or the Clippers IMO.

That would be the biggest obstacle. Trying to convince him to consider that. But right now, what else would they have to lose in trying? The worst ge can do is to say no! :dontknow:

We can give them #29 IF we are gonna get a better pick in a trade. I wouldn't hesitate about it.

Who is their worse contract? (Other than Nurkic lol).
