Only way I would be cool with getting another pick would be trading #16 and taking a bad contract (a contract that expires after next season). Please do not trade TJ Warren to get another pick in top 10.

all agree

and i like looney too, not just next to ayton as a pf, but can be our backup centre too.
12m/3 can get it done?

Looks like Sidery is projecting a starting lineup of

Hill
Booker
Jackson
Love
Ayton

...can't say I'm a fan of that trade even though it rids us of Knight.

Trade Pick 16, Bucks pick, Chriss OR Bender for Pick 8, draft Doncic.... Doncic is dropping as MPJ climbs. If Suns can even trade with Knicks that would be Ideal, the danger is Mavs... but if they get Bagley to drop to them I see them drafting him

The Kings will not pass on Doncic.
Divac and Stojakovic are gonna draft him.

Decent backup player...not more not less.
Not sure if he is an upgrade over Chriss, Bender or even Dudley.

Seeing as it'll be hard to lure free agents, I don't think this is the worst idea. It'll help teach the kids how to win and I can't imagine it would cost more than expirings and maybe the Bucks and 2nd rounder or, more likely, the Heat 16 this year.

Gives us guys who have winning experience. It would also let Ayton play mostly center.
Depending on the picks, I think I would do this.

To get both Love and Hill, we'd have to send out Knight, Chandler, and Dudley. Maybe add Chriss if they want another young asset along with the Bucks pick.
Of course, this all depends on if they are just dumping salary or want actual assets.
This saves them a few mil instantly (or if they don't take chriss, they save a total of 6 mil).

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yd92djut

We'd basically be dumping dead weight. Hill has a team option after this year and can be cut for just 1mil.
Love likely won't opt out but that's not the worst thing. He might be more open to be himself again after leaving LeBron's shadow. I'd say he's at the end of his prime, so while we won't get the best Kevin Love, we won't have the worst one either.

For the sake of better shooting, would anyone do a Knight for JR Smith straight up swap?
Their salaries and years are nearly identical. I know Smith is an idiot, but he's a shooter we'd need.
Or do we rely on Knight with that role given he's younger and is supposedly a better locker room guy?

I totally agree. I think its time to go veterans and not more youngsters. The core is in place

Knight for me. JR is not someone I would like to be around our young players.

George Hill as PG would be an less likely option. I think Goran or Eric Gordon (if the Rockets go for LeBron) -- would be better.

But one way to help the Cavs is if they are in sell -mode - send back non guaranteed contracts to get them under the luxury tax. Knight, Dudley and Chandler do not do that. Grantedf, they are expiring contracts (and for those asking about JR Smith - he only is guaranteed 4m after next summer - thknking the CAvs keep him)

If you could move Dudley for my guy COle Aldrich and his non guaranteed deal :) -- than you could so something like

Knight, Williams, Aldrich, Chandler and Ulis to Cleveland -because not only is that 3m less salary but it also about 12m in non guaranteed deals

Minnesota gets Dudley - over the cap - they will need a player

Suns get: Love, Hill and if they really want to limit what goes back to the Cavaliers - take Korver and he is only guaranteed 4m after this summer like HIll is only guaranteed 1m and throw them Daniels as he expires next summer - even MORE savings for the Cavs

Not my ideal trades though -
I still would prefer Love for Chandler and Warren

But figure out how to get Tucker and Gordon from the Rockets even if that means a future first rounder to the Cavs.

EDIT: I think just for the cap space and not guaranteed contract - I might call the TWolves and offer Dudley and a very heavily protected 1st that becomes two second round picks for Aldrich. That would create either an asset pre 7/1 if LeBron opts out (Williams + Ulis + Aldrich would be 13.5m on non guaranteed contracts) or it creates an additional 8m of cap space to take on say Love/Hill minimizing the dollars going back to the Cavs.

plus JR is only guaranteed 4m next summer 19/20 - I think the Cavs would want that deal

As much as I dont like Knight, I don't see him as a team cancer. JR Smith has already soon that he expect to be a starter and doesn't take a backseat to anyone. Since he is a shooting guard and has no skill to play point he is a complete waste and will be a cancer on the Suns.
Just say no to idiots!!

Suns can do better than Zaza as a back up center

Bogut will be available

who knows Chandler still might be on the team but with the way free agency is going - the Cavs maybe wanting to move on - there are trades to be made with guys on the Suns to bring back better long term talent. now is the time Ryan - there are six contracts, three non guaranteed, three expiring - use those suckers with a couple draft picks and really make this a team on the rise

Love or Favors
Gordon or Dragic

make it happen McD

You guys sure love your old, overpaid garbage, don't you? Dragic, Hill, JR Smith... Who's next? Carmelo?

One of those isn’t like the other... Dragic isn’t yet a year removed from being an all star/Eurobasket MVP. He’s got 2 years left of productive ball.

I don't want Hill - Sidery was the one that mentioned it - I was just constructing a trade that might have appeased to Cleveland

I don't want Smith -he is not a good basketball player

Dragic though with Igor, an All Star, Euro MVP - that's different. He would be a great bridge for two years - possibly even longer but not very expensive - for the younger players.

Look at Reddick this year in Philly. Am not talking about Dudley or Chandler - Dragic still has game.

My top target for Guard is Gordon from the Rockets - in the scenario that LeBron goes to Houston - it might cost the Suns a future first to Cleveland to take Anderson - but for both Tucker and Gordon, I would pass along a first to Cleveland to help with that type of deal. But my second choice now is Dragic

I saw names; Collison, Wright, Hill, Lillard, Walker. Lillard would cost a lot; Walker would be a lot to get and re-sign, Dragic might be cheapest dollar wise over the next two years and still very good

Return to Phoenix Suns
