Re: The Official Draft Thread 2: Judgement Day
Give me Rivers, Ross, or Waiters (in that order). Rivers has star potential and is marketable (and he's sub-zero). I can just see myself picking up a Rivers shirt/jersey. Ross is the safe pick. If upper management takes the same approach to this year's draft as last year's, then we will take Ross, which I am okay with as long as we pick up a stud PG within the next 2 years (check out Kyle Anderson, UCLA). Waiters (like Rivers) has star potential, but did not even start in college, and really isn't a good shooter (not to mention he's 6'4"). He wouldn't really excite the fan base, but could be the type of scorer that we need.

Re: The Official Draft Thread 2: Judgement Day
Some draft news from around the League:
Arnett Moultrie:

Jared Sullinger
http://espn.go.com/nba/draft2012/story/ ... ources-say
Arnett Moultrie:
The Detroit Pistons have admitted to hosting an individual workout for just one player projected to go in the first round of the NBA Draft, and when Arnett Moultrie confounded some at the NBA Draft Combine by declining to participate in drills which seemed tailored to his athleticism, it came with some attendant suspicion of a tacit promise from a team with a good draft position to take him. The Pistons pick No. 9 in the June 28 draft, and while most projections have Moultrie going a bit later than that – based loosely on penalizing him for balking at the combine drills – the 6-10 ¾, 233-pounder from Mississippi State was the only likely first-rounder among 15 players the Pistons listed Friday as having worked out for the team.

Jared Sullinger
Ohio State Buckeyes big man Jared Sullinger has been medically red flagged by NBA doctors, multiple league sources told ESPN.com on Monday.
Sullinger's agent, David Falk, when reached via phone by ESPN.com said that he was not in a position to comment on the story. Sullinger, who is projected to be a lottery pick in the 2012 NBA draft, underwent a series of medical tests at the NBA draft combine a week ago. According to sources, the doctors who looked at Sullinger were concerned with Sullinger's back.
A number of NBA team doctors have reviewed the information from the NBA and have told their front office staff that Sullinger's back issues could shorten his NBA career and some have advised their teams not to draft him in the first round. Sullinger missed two games for Ohio State in early December with back spasms.
Sullinger's father, Satch Sullinger, said he believes the issue isn't that serious. "He had a bulging area that was due to his hamstring and quads being so tight," Satch Sullinger told ESPN.com senior college basketball writer Andy Katz in a phone call Monday afternoon. "It pulled on his hip flexor and he's been taking care of it to loosen it. You can call it a red flag if you want. But it's tight hamstring and tight quads. He's been to doctors, he's doing yoga and deep tissue massage. The flexibility is helping take the pressure off the area. "We've got nothing to hide. At this stage it's all about what they can't do. Jared is a skilled player. A two-time All-American. He can play."

Sullinger would be a steal if he continues to drop.

He will continue to fall down the draft chart, and somehow the Spurs (despite only having the #59 pick) will end up drafting him.

Re: The Official Draft Thread 2: Judgement Day
Sullinger will indeed fall to second round where Spurs will draft him, turn him to Duncan's side kick, become a 20/10 player by season 3, occasionally miss a few games due to back and quad soreness but still average 70+ games a season.
Book it.
Book it.

We should look for a way to get Sullinger with a late first. Rivers and Sullinger. Sorry Markieff.

Exactly what I was thinking. Or they do some savvy trade up for him.

Would Kieff get us a late 1st? I can't see him being any higher than a late first round pick in this draft.

I doubt it.
From what im hearing about Sullinger, all teams we worked out for were alerted to his red flag. Most dont care. I dont see him falling to the 20's. With that said, i would look at others before Sullinger.

I was thinking the exact same thing....and was thinking they had the "nba medical expert" on payroll to report such things to make a player drop. Not that I believe it, but if he drops and ends up with the Spurs I wouldn't be shocked.

Can teams already start trading for draft picks or do they have to wait til the Finals is over?

They could have started trading as soon as their seasons ended. Most teams wait till the week before the draft before they make any moves. Im expecting to see a few trade made by mid-week.

Re: The Official Draft Thread 2: Judgement Day
Im also hearing that Toronto might just end up keeping their pick and drafting Waiters.
And before anyone starts asking, "Who is Ryan Wolstat?", he is the local Raptors beat writer for The Toronto Sun.
Ryan Wolstat: @timpchisholm I think even if Lillard is on the board there's a solid chance Waiters is the guy. via Twitter
Ryan Wolstat: My personal take: The Raptors have seen the impact of Avery Bradley in Boston and Waiters has many similarities to Bradley. via Twitter

Maybe they will but there are few teams in the league who need more young pieces less that the Raptors. BC needs a vet on the wing bad.
And that Asian girl looks like a black jack dealer who took me for CASH the other weekend at talking stick. That will be in my nightmares the next couple nights.

There's kind of an unwritten rule about teams not making any moves until the season is done to keep all attention on the Finals.
