If Leuer can keep this up especially rebounding wise then he should give Kieff a run for the starting PF job.

Gentlemen,

Hope you're summer went well. Surprised no one mentioned that we didn't lose to a buzzer beater. 8-)

The curse is over.

PS: Keef is still on the roster. Remember my comments about me buying you all Chino Bandido if he was traded? Offer still stands this season. Will be in Arizona in Nov/Dec visiting the folks.

Good day.

Actually I think Kieff might be the issue here...at least Tucker can stretch things out a bit with his corner 3, but Kieff and Chandler take up the same space on offense and totally cut off the driving lanes for our guards. We had the same issue last year with Kieff next to Len.

Scola and Gortat as well. Scola hogged the elbows.

Biggest problem with Tucker is he can't dribble. The ball would swing its way to him and he's just completely not a threat with the ball in his hands so the play ends on the spot.

Our bench won the game....but we looked scared in the final minutes.

Keef seriously looks like he is sandbagging.

Leur looks like a homeless Kevin Love.

The Archie/Booker/TJ lineup looked good. Slash N shoot! The future!

The best teams have a 2-3 elite scorers and role players.

Tucker and Chandler could exist on any contender, the problem is more we don't have go to players.

Interesting info - Frye's best Phoenix per 36 is 14 / 8. Leuers last 2 seasons (combined) is better.

Leur's dunk had me going nuts. I had the perfect angle for it too. I thought there was no way he was going to slam it home, boy was I wrong. I felt sorry for the people in front of me, I was yelling like the Suns bench

For all the talk of Leuer being the GOAT, he's actually looking like a possible rotation player. He moved around the court much better than Teletovic did and was hitting his shots. Not to mention hitting the glass. I could dig him seeing those minutes at the 4 behind Kieff.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

^Agreed. I thought that after we got him. Especially after remembering that performance he had against us last year. He killed us. In the right system (could it be us?) he could be a perfect rotational player.
That dunk was so nasty, it even made it on WorldStar Hip Hop

Of course he is. Goodwin went from being premier high school recruit (like REAL high) to being a disappointment and leading Kentucky to not making the tourney for the first time in forever and losing to Robert Morris in the NIT...he had WCS playing with him and Alex Poythress, and all the guys were top tier recruits.

He dropped to a late pick because of this and has never proved himself.

Booker is the opposite. One of the lesser heralded recruits of Kentucky, who's stock rose during the season from his spectacular play, and they get to the championship game.....he does so well during the season to go from not being projected as a first round pick, to being a lottery pick...one projected to be so.

They have been on opposite paths...who do you want to be your SG?

Excellent post. And i will take your analysis one step further.
Archie is in Phoenix for more than 3 years. He works hard every day. In this preaseason game he saw, a guy being part only for 4 months in the roster, younger than him ,to play more minutes and take more shots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that he loses his confidence for himself , day by day, and i suggest that he will be the attractive part of a possible markieef morris trade.
Also he will loose the trust on coach and an angry/dissapointed guy, in the team, the first thing he will do, is to tell his thoughts on Markieef. And that's why Markieef MUST leave us as soon as possible.

Markieef+Goodwin for Stalney Johnson. Why not? One day this unknown happiness and luck will return in this team. Thank god the buzzer beater went out.

Sorry for my english. its awfull i know :P

Looks like we let the Kings get out to that early lead...

.. Just to Leuer them into a false sense of security.

Here all season, folks.

Goodwin will prove his worth in practice and for what ever minutes he gets.
In any case, Goodwin is likely being groomed to be Bledsoe's backup, the slasher type whilst Booker is being groomed to be the spot up shooter.

People here need to realize that both are different enough players to have roles on the team.

Goodwin slashing, then finding Booker for the open shot... thats what I'm looking forward to see... not one or the other getting traded.

Goodwin is not a PG. Bledsoe has playmaking skills. Goodwin not. And the answer about who is our SG, devin booker is the future. The Klay Thompson II. The combo Goodwin -Booker is too bad as it was the combo Isaiah-Bledsoe. We dont have 2 balls on court .
Tyler Ennis was a better fit to pass the ball, not goodwin.
But i love goodwin and his passion and fearness but i want a specific plan for his gameplay from Hornacek.

Probably a big mental win not losing at the buzzer. Makes it feel like a new year and not the same familiar **** as last season.

TJ has to start, we looked extremely cramped with the starters.

I didn't watch the game, but can't understand from a spacing perspective how subbing out a guy who can shoot threes, for a guy who can't shoot threes (yet) helps spacing? Has PJ really regressed that much?

It's more that PJ is a static offensive player. He spots up but no more. TJ at least provides good movement off the ball and prevents defenders from helping.

Leuer's dunk on Cousins was #3 on SC Top 10.

This is preseason, and the reason for limited minutes for Archie was because Hornacek is experimenting. Hornacek already knows what Kieff, Bledsoe, Archie and PJ offer, he's been with them for a while. The guys who played the most are the new guys and he is taking the chance to see how they behave on a game, rather than just in practice.

No need to read in between the lines and think that Booker stole Archie's spot, or that Kieff was benched because he was sandbagging (he did look out of synch, though, mostly because he's only been with the team for a week now, while the rest has been playing for over a month).

Let's just enjoy the game for now. It was pretty awesome. I loved Knight's 3Pt shot. I think he is releasing the ball quicker, so he is getting shot opportunities out of simple screens. Defenders are gonna have to guard him closely, and that will open many looks for Chandler's rolls after screens.

Couldnt really make much of Weems short appearance. Got slightly disappointed at Keef hesitating on a couple of open looks he had at the 3 pt line. And was positively surprised by Price's defensive intensity and speed (even though his shot really can't be counted on).
