I can only hope so, although I'm slightly torn because he is helping the tank more than anybody right now, although inexplicably not playing the youngsters. Even those who defend Hornacek--there are times when people who are good at their jobs deserve to be fired. I'm not one of those who thinks Hornacek is good. I think he can be successful if given a very particular type of lineup and team personality. I don't think he's a leader who can get the team to follow him and his personality, and his X's and O's have been a disaster this year. Meaning, to keep him long-term, we limit our acquisition possibilities via draft and FA to uber-responsible, mature, very professional players who need no managing whatsoever, and that puts us at a huge disadvantage because we can't get the best talent and turn them into those types like the Spurs and others can do.
But, if you do like him and think he's a great coach, what has he done this year to warrant keeping his job? He has this team playing at a college/D-League level, and we could have the worst roster in the NBA but it should never approach this point. What he's done with this team all year has been a disaster. Like nearing worst coaching job I've ever seen bad. And his solutions are not even tangible actions to help. He keeps saying, "we have to play with more pride." "We just aren't playing worth a darn." I mean, what casual fan couldn't identify that, and it's kind of his job to fix those issues, and they are getting worse.
