If true, why didn't he sell to the Jazz guy and get paid

I'll believe it when I see it, as I am not one for accusing a guy without any proof here. As much as we've all disliked Sarver from a 'bad owner' standpoint, this is a really terrible way for things to (potentially) end.

In the meantime, if he does get removed, does the NBA run our team until we find another owner? I forget how that worked with the whole CP3 trade debacle. Hopefully James Jones is still allowed to make decisions without any interference even until we find an owner.

I imagine whoever buys the team will buy the facility from him too (assuming he owns it).

Can anybody call the Discount Tire lady and ask her if she wants to buy a basketball team in her hometown -- the Suns need somebody worth at least 5B

Hes always been very vocally anti racist so I'm curious what comes to light regarding that. I know its profitable to be anti racist but that part is most shocking.

Weird emotions on this one. I hope he is out but this is so awful if true. Is this like a Gruden email thing? IDK. Wish he just did the honorable thing and stepped aside for ruining a potential dynasty in the 2000s.

That's not something you put out there without it being completely locked in. If you misreport a potential trade, signing, etc. it's bad business but if he puts that out there and it's incorrect, that's potentially libel, and he'd basically never work again.

Jerry Colangelo: Wait on contract part of Suns C Deandre Ayton’s growth

https://omny.fm/shows/arizona-s-morning-news/phoenix-sports-mogul-jerry-colangelo-talks-about-h

Jerry Colangelo understands how the business world works, and the former owner of the Phoenix Suns also knows first-hand that professional athletes might have to learn that the hard way.

With that perspective, Colangelo doesn’t have a steaming opinion of how the Suns have handled the contract situation of fourth-year center Deandre Ayton. In fact, Colangelo has an optimistic view of the team failing to agree with Ayton on a contract extension before the 2021-22 season began, making the big man a restricted free agent next offseason.

“First of all, I don’t ever second-guess anyone else in terms of making decisions. They’re intelligent, they know what they’re doing, they’ve weighed the pluses and minuses of stepping into that right now or waiting it out,” Colangelo told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News on Friday.

“That’s part of the business today. The money is so big, (the Suns) have to be 100% sure they want to move forward. I think probably it’s all going to work out at some point and it’ll be part of Deandre Ayton’s growth in terms of a business man to understand this is how the world really plays.”

Phoenix holds significant control moving into next season.

The team can extend a qualifying offer to make Ayton a restricted free agent. He can attract offers from other teams, any of which the Suns can match. Phoenix can also offer him more money and more years (up to five) than any other team.

A third option for Ayton would put him at extreme risk: He could sign the qualifying offer of $16.4 million for one year, keeping him in Phoenix before he becomes a restricted free agent in the 2023-24 offseason.

But that would leave likely hundreds of millions of dollars on the table. No player contending for max dollars has ever gone that route.

In short, the Suns can get another full-year look at Ayton and still offer him the money and a multi-year deal they reportedly weren’t sure about handing out this offseason.

Clearly, the team and Ayton’s agents had less-than-ideal negotiations.

Suns general manager James Jones said Ayton’s representatives would only consider a five-year maximum contract, while his agents told The Athletic’s Sam Amick that the team never put a three- or four-year contract offer squarely on the table.

Ayton said he is “disappointed” a deal did not get done.

“Really one thing about me throughout my whole life, I’ve always learned to control what I can control,” Ayton told reporters Wednesday after the season opener. “At the same time, obviously I’m disappointed but I’m still trying to get us back to the Finals.

“I still have to represent the team and myself as well. And I’m just a competitor, man. I just like to compete to the best and every time I’m between them lines that’s what you’re gonna see outta me, nothing else.”
Well if Jerry wouldn't have driven the team to bankruptcy we wouldn't have that ass clown Sarver.

There are, sadly, a TON of ways to be racist. Maybe he really does believe in BLM and all that, but he's an islamophobe. Or maybe he has stereotypical opinions of Native people. There was a lot of casual racism being flung around toward Asian people at the start of COVID as well.

There's just a LOT of ways that even people who are vocal about racial justice can still be discriminatory and harmful.

Interesting to get two perspectives nearly completely opposite of each other. Though it's Gambo, so this means whether the accusation is based or not, he'll say he was right based on one of these quotes or the other.

This is a pretty huge thing to leak for that Schultz guy. Basically every suns fan would want Robert removed just because he's a terrible owner. And there are a lot of stories of Robert being an idiot. But just because you're dumb and rude doesn't mean you're evil. The happiness seen on Twitter over someone POSSIBLY being a sexist and racist is a bit off-putting. Yes, that's just Twitter, but still everyone seems so happy and willing to accept this without fact. This could get pretty messy unless there is basically recorded evidence.

I don't think anyone is celebrating him being sexist or racist, but there are very few that actually like him as an owner. When I first read it, I can't say I was surprised based on what I know about the guy. It didn't seem like a totally outlandish thing to me. That said, you can certainly be a total POS without being racist or sexist, but those things do tend to go hand in hand.

Yeah, I was on the fence about Flex before, but first no Thad Young deal and now this "I knew, but didn't say anything".

I gotta think he's just full of **** at this point.
