I would trade the Miami pick to move up to #2 if Celtics took Josh Jackson and the Suns would then take Fultz. Would hope we could trade Bledsoe to the Knicks for their pick and take Isaac or Tatum there. Perfect draft for me if this happened.

I would trade the Miami pick to move up to #2 in a second.

Miami is gonna be good, at least decent next season.Dragic, Waiters, Winslow, Hassan ... We are probably receive a #18-#20 pick.

I would draft Fultz or Jackson, whoever is available.

Thatd really turn the off season upside down as it seems we'd choose either Fultz or Ball and then have trade Bledsoe.

Which is the complete opposite of the simple SF strategy at 4.

Basically everything I've been advocating in choosing Tatum and more. Pretty much solidifies my vote that the Suns should take Tatum and not think twice. Sure, Isaac could be the player everyone wonders why x many teams passed on him, or he could be the player that everyone wondered why the Suns chose him 4th overall.

Great article.

And I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding Isaac. How many Giannis/Kawhi types are there that fell in the draft and the narrative post fact becomes, why did everyone pass on them? A handful in the last decade? On the other hand, how many busts have we seen just in the last two draft alone?

Somewhere along the lines we couldn't promise his camp we'd move Bledsoe for him and so the attraction from both sides doesn't seem to be there. Maybe there was even some incentive to rule him out early to not agitate Rich Paul.

The Kings love him. That's another reason to stay away.

Imagine if Lakers draft Ball and Lavar gets all happy, then he's traded to us for Fox at 4 lol.

Jackson and Fox's competitive fire is why I like them so much. Players like that will always find a way to get better and are just looking to win.

Also that definately is Ryan McDonough in the Jackson to Celtics quote.

Comes out on the same day pick 2 is linked to us.

Plan could be to make a stealth move for Fultz or Ball, who he said were 1-2 post lottery.

Love this idea. Also, the thought of adding Ball and Isaac would give us incredible length in our starting lineup, if we went that route.

I think Lakers will draft Jackson. But if Celtics grabs him first then Lakers will make number 2 available and most likely trade with Suns.

The logic is... Lakers have Russell and Clarkson at the PG slash combo guard spot they need a SG who can compliment Ingram and Russell.

If Jackson is gone, lakers draft Fultz or Ball for another team... Perhaps Suns or even 76ers. The Lakers then drafts Isaac who they see play some PF when Randle goes to the bench or moves to center for small ball lineups.

Do Lakers really want a PG next to Russell??? Given Russell's best spot is combo guard ala Harden type role and they just signed Clarkson.

What I think McD ia trying to do is have three 6'10 and taller guys starting and have them swap around the SF/PF/C spots... Be a nightmare matchup for traditional teams and even for small ball teams.

Pick 2 and Pick 28 and Deng
Pick 4 and Pick 32 and Miami 2018

McDonough would take either Fultz or Ball @ 2 and move Bledsoe & 28 for 7.

Is the difference in height between Tatum and Isaac really that much?

6'8 6'10 7'1 isn't bad either......with better offense.

I still lean Tatum at the end of the day 51 to 49 percent

I think that the lakers are going to go with Ball. Paul George is a small forward, brandon Ingram is a small forward and Josh jackson is a small forward. We know that Russell is more of a 2 guard then a point. You can play positionless basketball but only if you have players that end up covering the bases that would normally be covered by the position. if your point guard doesnt pass you need to the rest of the team to make up for it. if your power forward doesnt rebound you need the rest of the team to make up for it. Ingram isnt a great rebounder or outside shooter yet so those numbers have to be made up by others. Jackson isnt a great outside shooter and dlo is good passer for a shooting guard but not for a point guard.

For the Suns I am still locked onto...
1. Fultz
2. Jackson
-
-
-
-
3. Tatum
4. Ball
5 .Issac (I dont think he has enough of an offensive game to be a small forward yet)
-
-
-
-
6. Zack Collin

after that I dont think there is anyone in the top 15 that I would take.

at 32. if we can get Bell or Rabb I would think we did very well.

Keep in mind if we do manage another draft day McMiracle and moved up to 2 it's almost certain we'd take Ball (if whispers are true), which alot of people here would rate below whoever we'd pick at 4.

And then Bledsoe would probably be moved, it's like when they give the sequel extra special FX, I'm overhyped.

I wouldn't hesitate to package the Miami pick with the 4th to move into the second position if I felt sure about my target. But I don't like any of the top players enough to do it in this draft. I think Fultz is highly overrated and while he won't be a bust, I'd be very surprised if he ever started in an All Star game. Ball has the kind of game that might really shine in the NBA and I like his up-side far more than Markelle's but there's some glaring concerns there too.

Staying at 4 we can draft Jackson, Isaac or Tatum and I don't see them being all that different than the top names - they all come with lots of potential and lots of concerns. I don't want to pay a premium for anyone that comes with lots of concerns. OTOH, if the front office is convinced there's a superstar just waiting to be drafted at 2...well, put me down for a yes.

I dont offer the Lakers the Miami pick. I offer them whatever the lower pick is in 2018 between Miami and ours. That way no matter what we get the higher of the two and the Lakers still get a 2018 pick (One im sure they wont be using on themselves, but to trade to a team to help unload contracts).

Honestly I don't see why we need to give up a pick at all if we're taking on a bad contract. The value difference between #2 and #4 is nowhere near the $53M on Deng's contract or the $48M on Mozgov's. If they want us to take on one of those contracts (especially if it allows them to sign Lebron and/or George), my asking price would be #2 without trading #4 back.

Its because no team is going to use a top 5 pick (Let alone the #2) just to unload a bad contract. Thats just a stupid move.

Can we put added protection on an already protected pick? I mean, if we were to flip the Top 8 protected Miami Pick to LA, but add our own lottery protection on it, that way if its in the lottery we keep it, but if its in the lottery and Top 8, Miami keeps it?

I would be down for that move if possible. Lakers can move down to #4. We can take either Fultz or Jackson, and Lakers still have a chance at getting one of Ball or Fox.
