Trade and free agency speculation

Man, I am thinking the same thing! Would rather sit tight. A lot of these free agents that are being mentioned might make our team worse (if that’s possible). I’m fine with the additions of Coach Igor+ Deandre + Bridges + another year of your young ones.

Now making trades is a different story. I’m cool with McD making a home run trade. No thanks to free agents though.

They're marginal improvements at best and likely wouldn't start for any decent team in the league. I want to bring in competition for the position, but if we're trying to improve we should be looking at players that been solid starters over the majority of their career not guys that make a living as the 3rd guy off the bench.

Solid NBA players; that know there role and if Chriss/Bender wet the bed - Igor knows what the veteran will give him. If Dougie McD were signed for 1m on October 1 -that is one thing. I am not picking up the phone July 1 and my first call is too McDermott

We're already paying Dudley $10M next year to do that though. If/when Dudley's in playing shape, which I'd expect him to be for next year, he's a better option to steady the ship than any of Bjelica, Bertans, and McDermott.

I'd almost say we should move one of Bender and Chriss if we acquire a contributing starting power forward. The minutes won't be there to giving them both meaningful playing time to develop, especially with Ayton manning the center for the foreseeable future.

Agreed - that an in shape Dudley is better than a lot of options. He is a smart dude, knows his role, has value on the roster. Maybe he was just being "held out" the last two years to help the tank. But you are correct - if Dudley is in good playing shape - easily better than all the names you mention and others. Suns could than use the cap space on the best Guard option possible

I haven't said the trade this week : ) - so will say it again, the Hornets deal - even take Lamb for Chandler, Chriss and Daniels with MW

My affinity for Dudley was really hampered when he started receiving steady minutes late in the season and could no longer surprise opponents with his mere competence. It was completely destroyed when he wrapped up Lebron 25 feet from the basket on a switch. You just can't play players like that in the playoffs.

He was at peak pre-retirement body by that point of the season, hence my "playing shape" qualifier. You can barely play any of the guys being discussed over the past few pages in the playoffs anyways, so that's a moot point.

Just saw this after I commented, but this is definitely tampering. If no one complains maybe he does just get a warning.

I'd expect a small fine though.

Just do not do what Miami did for whatever that guy, Tyler Johnson? , that now has the 18m cap hit for Fred Van Fleet. I like him as a player - I do - but do not do something stupid.

Please don't say that trade again. It's awful.

It's kind of funny that if they do sign a PG and PF this offseason will be basically focused on fixing McD's past GM mistakes.

Draft Ayton - replaces his first draft choice (Len) and takes over for his biggest FA signing (Chandler)
Trade for Bridges - got back the pick he foolishy traded away for Knight
Draft Okobo - hope he's the answer after all his later round guard misses (Goodwin, Enis, Ulis)
Sign Vet PF - replaces his second biggest FA signing (Dudley) and insurance if his two top 10 PF draft picks miss
Sign vet PG - replaces Knight his biggest player acquisition and most expensive extension
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Tyler Ulis - probably not good news either. Maybe Reed or Harrison. That's only 12m - not really enough for two players. So, Williams, might be gone too - that is 17m

If Dudley will come back in shape then really we just need a PG. Sign whoever the Clips release between Teodosic or Bev to a 1 year deal. See if they can prove to be our lead guard. Move FA to next offseason.

I'd keep Reed and Peters for sure. Maybe Harrison. I like his defense, but at the same time we simply cannot have all of these mediocre PGs and also go ahead and sign yet another in FA.

Would like a trade for a PG currently in backup situation, like Tyus Jones or Tomas Satoransky (pg/sg). I like VanVleet, but not sure how good he will look outside of that awesome Raptors bench unit.

No we can't. Bobby, you have proposed some interesting and possible trade ideas in the past. Sorry, but these aren't among them.

Gambo just said he is eliminating Smart and Rondo from our FA list...

What number do you think Smart wears next season?

I still like Kemba best. Top 10 PG, in his prime for next 4 yrs, quality person. Would give up Warren & Chriss and the Bucks 1st

I think you hold on these guys as long as you can and turn them loose only if we strike in free agency or a trade,
