And I'm not sure a lot of free agents are in a hurry to sign with the Lakers and player with an old and broken Kobe. Lakers will have $35-36M on the books next year and will be lucky to get any other top tier players. Don't think Melo wants to play with a declining player in LA, having just gone through the nightmare of playing with a broken Amare.

The fact that his contract is insured makes it that much more appealing. I'm really hoping we land an additional 1st rounder in 2015.

Cant see Frye leaving the valley... I think he's a lifer. He'd opt out and re-sign on the request of McDo and Sarver if the cap space was needed. I'd think we get nothing but cooperation from CFrye.

Only one team I could see Frye going to besides the Suns, and that's the Blazers. I heard he still has a house there, his family stays there during the summer too. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't really have a link, but I thought I recall hearing something of that sort.
But yeah, I'd love to keep Frye for a while. Like I've said before, his game isn't going to change much even if he is 35. I hope he stays with us his entire career, I'm a big supporter of Frye.
I do think fry ends up opting out this summer to try and get a 3-4 year deal. The heart issue was probably a wake up call that your career can end at anytime so he might as well secure as much guaranteed money as possible. I agree he will want to come back here and will probably give the suns the first crack at signing him. But let's be realistic it's gonna come down to money... it always does.

I really think the Suns are going to do a trade of Okafor for Pau without giving up anything else...

We'd be too big at that point, but I'd like for Len to learn some post moves from Pau. Even if it's only for half a year.

You gotta know the lakers are calling a lot. Ole Mitch Kup is dialing up Ryan Mcd daily. I can see Ryan's secretary coming in the office saying its mitch again sir, what should I say. Ryan would be like, tell him my kid is sick and i have to go.

But seriously I know the lakers are gonna try and pry a 1st from us. Its not worth it for a few months of a rental.

We better not package a 1st with Emeka unless we're getting a starter with room for growth. Especially if that deal involves Pau Gasol...

Pau can help mentor Plumlee and teach him a post game.

Agreed. But even then, I feel like Emeka's expiring is worth so much more than a four month rental of Pau Gasol. And something to consider is that Pau has a history of minimal effort if his heart isn't in it. Who's to say he'd be motivated to play his hardest here in Phoenix?

You wouldn't be motivated either if you had to play with kobe everyday while consistently degrades you.

Suns need to trade Okafor and some picks and get some big names or atleast Pau Gasol. Lots of teams are gonna like Okafors contract because its expiring which draws up some interest. The only pick id probably give up is Indianas if were trying to get Pau

A pick should not be pair with Okafor's contract, unless the Suns are trying to get a current AllStar or a player that is young and/or in their prime. Gasol is an awful pick up for the Suns and by making a trade with the Lakers only helps them. Okafor's contract is more valuable to the Suns then any other team, its insured and possibly the best trade asset in the league.

As predicted the lakers forum has a thread dedicated to this now. They realy think their gonna get back their 2015 pick back, let alone any first round pick. Lmao!

I wouldn't. We shouldn't be trading 1st rounders for rentals just because we can.

Emeka and second rounder. That's about what the deal is worth to the suns. And every other team. No way do the suns destroy the future for a few months rental of an older pau.

Maybe you'd like to read this again...

The Suns could have up to six first-round draft picks over the next two years, including four in the talent-packed 2014 draft. GM Ryan McDonough has said he is willing to explore using his draft picks, young assets, and cap space (~$5MM) to explore possible deals for All-Star-level caliber players.

Gasol is an AllStar caliber player, but he hasn't been one since '11. :)
