Why not help Bos get Butler. Send Tucker to Bos to replace Crowder and get good assets back. Have Bos dish out the picks and us receive a 2nd and Mirotic or something along those lines? Get some value out of the deal.

Bird isn't dealing him to LA for some mediocre prospects and pick that might be okay in 2018. No way.

Boston or Bust. Jaylen Brown and a top-3 pick is 5x what Vlade got for Cousins.

Nobody said Bird was trading George to the Lakers. If I was Bird I would try and help their rival team ;)

Man, Paul didn't ever tip a hand or anything, but at least he wrote. This Doug Haller fella isn't giving us nearly the level of content I've become accustomed to.

I will preface this by saying I still follow Gambo on twitter and listen to his show so in between conversations about the back up Cardinals punter and baseball, I am listening this week for Suns news. But seriously, the last Suns story I think he truly broke was Steve Nash.

He had the Suns signiing Kosta Koufous; he had the Suns targeting Harrison Barnes and Nicolas Baw-toooooommm

He had Rudy Gay for Markieff Morris last year - from his sources

And though he might think if he says it enough times per segment, the same line like yesterday (yes-tuh-day) - "Cousins was suspended for a game. They beat Boston. The game Cousins was suspended they won. So when Cousins was suspended, they won the game. Cousins was suspended by the NBA and the Kings beat the Celtics."

Basically, he said the same thing four times in a row in one breath.

So, I like to listen to Gambo but when he says stuff - I think the opposite will happen since Ryan McD took over.

He will cost more in a year - but Chandler might be coming off books at that time . History with Watson and Okur. If you could get Favors for Tucker, Len and maybe some draft pick protection down the road - seems like a solid move and you still get your top 3 pick

Funny that's the first one that popped into my head..Tucker and Len..because Favors will cost a lot next summer, and Len will be much cheaper and could back up Gobert, and then Tucker comes off the books.

But they kind of need a stretch 4, and Dudley was rumored to Utah, so that make sense...Dudley works at 4 with a guy like Gobert in the middle.

Lots of great insight the last couple pages of this thread!

I agree that Butler would be safer as far as contract goes. But I feel like Butler, Bledsoe, Booker line up would not work as well as a George, Bledsoe, Booker line up. I also think I read somewhere that George likes the idea of bringing Indiana its first non ABA championship. If he came to the Suns he could be up for that pitch with us as well. I think the key to keeping him is adding another elite player as well as positioning for a third before he has to sign.
We need more “Shazam!” and less“Heartbreak Hotel”.

Pretty sure we'd have advantage to resign with new salary rules, something like $30MM difference if he resigned with us vs leaving for another team in free agency.

Is that mostly because of an extra year like it is now? Or $30MM over the same timeframe?

I think an extra year...not sure but see here: http://nba.nbcsports.com/2017/02/20/demarcus-cousins-projects-to-miss-out-on-at-least-29-87-million-due-to-trade/amp/

Don't know if this applies to PG

I'm thinking that Knight/Warren/Len/pick should be enough for Butler. If Knight is an issue then replace him with a pick that is equal value. Does Chicago say yes if Boston won't include Crowder?

No doubt. McD needs to step it up. Time to go big or go home.

Knight has 0 value and still has 3 years left.
Len is an expiring.
Warren is still TBD
The pick may only be a 3-6 selection.

I'm sure Chicago isn't only looking for Crowder. It's probably him on top of the Nets pick(s).
Can't hurt to make the offer though.

I think Chicago wants a package that includes Crowder/picks. Boston says they will give them a package that include picks but they aren't willing to part with Crowder. Maybe Ainge is calling their bluff.

I wonder if Chicago is bluffing too in order to get both BKN picks and maybe someone minor.

Yes, re-signing with your own team (it says in that link) you can get the extra year (5 instead of 4). The annual salary isn't much difference. I always find this misleading because unless they get hurt, or are old, they will likely get more money in that 5th year on their NEXT contract when the cap is even higher.

PG might be had without Suns giving up too much.

Butler is worth an arm and leg. This years pick, and one in the future, along with Warren would be adequate. Banking on future picks keeps us floundering. Acquiring an All Star two way player on a good/great contract takes this team to the next level. The choice is add and build upon what we have, or break it down yet again. I.e. Dealing Bled on draft day.

Gambo just came on the radio and is saying the following:

1. 7 or 8 teams are trying to negotiate for Tucker including the Spurs.
2. Suns are kicking the tires on Paul George and Jimmy Butler. Nothing serious, just due diligence.
3. Paul George and his agent are telling teams not to bother trading for him because he is going to the Lakers in 18 months.

Dammit the Nets just got the exact package I wanted for Tucker for Bogdanovic. Nicholson's contract and a 1st rounder.

Good work by the Nets as they climb out of that horrid hole they got themselves in. I don't hate this trade for Washington Bogdan helps a weak bench.

I kind of figured he would. That should kill any package a team would want to put together for him. If the Lakers knew they'd get PG in 18 months why wouldn't they trade Ingram for Cousins? You'd then have DAR, Randle, PG and Cousins?

Based on the first, it seems pretty possible that the Suns can get a 1st. Spurs make a lot of sense. PJ would be perfect for that team and might be enough to help beat the GSWs. Don't the Spurs have that young guy from Washington, Murry - might be worth him. Spurs are not really a fit unless they include Patty Mills or Dedmon. Or maybe two guys like David Lee and Anderson.

So George wants to go to the Lakers - Bird should call Magic and get that unprotected pick. TODAY!

I think the Spurs value their drafting too much to trade a 1st for an expiring role player.

Just like Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook were supposed to go to the Lakers first chance they got.

If his agent is really saying that, I think it's just him keeping his options open to still get that mega max in Indiana in case he decides to stay. Staying in Indiana until he's an UFA means he can still get his megamax if Bird can improve the team enough or leave with all his options on the table.
