Here's an interesting one:

PHX-CHI-BOS Blockbuster

Boston:
Out - Bradley
In: Chandler

They won't be able to pay Bradley next year so they swap him for Chandler because they desperately need rebounding. Chandler also has championship experience and is also a great fit next to Horford.

Chicago:
Out - R.Lopez, DWade
In - Knight, Dudley, Bradley, 2018 MIA

Chicago cleans house and goes into full tank mode. Hiring Knight as their tank commander for the next 3 years as he leads them to top 3 lotto picks. They currently don't have a SF on their roster so Dudley makes sense here. And they swap DWade for Bradley who is significantly younger and they will be able to pay him the $ he needs next year.

Phoenix:
Out - Knight, Chandler, Dudley, 2018 MIA
In - DWade, Rolo

No brainer for us. We dump Knight and are able to take on Wade to mentor Book for a year, and who knows... if he likes it here, he might embrace a bench role for years beyond next? Which if so, he preserves cap and can help lure a top tier free agent for us next year, which there will be many. We also swap Chandler for Rolo which I think would work out well.

Bledsoe/Wade/Booker/Chriss/Lopez

Bench: Warren, Jackson, Ulis, Bender, Williams, Jones Jr, Millsap, Reed

Players are a wash so I'd prefer to keep the Miami pick.

Knight will be bought I think. Maybe a 25 million dollar buyout. Sarver is probably the one holding on it.... I understand... Its a lot of friggin money.

But if Suns want a positive locker room and admit that they messed up Knight's role... They'll buy him out... I know i know... He's paid heaps to do what the team wants... But it could rub off wrongly ro the youth in the locker rooms.

unquestionably an overpriced contract...but Holiday is still an above average guard. move might have been to make Anthony Davis happy

Your list was pretty spot on, though I will add James Johnson is a great defender. But, about this Jrue contract, the reason they paid him as much as they did, basically I think offered him the max, is that they were over the cap, and if they renounced him, they would have only had $13 million in cap space, and they felt that there was no way they could find a capable pg for that amount of money. So he was overpaid, but they really couldn't afford to lose him.

Going to be an awkward job evaluation when you cost the boss $25m.

So we have 14 players signed -

Booker, Jackson, Ulis, Warren, Chriss, Bender, Reed, Jones, Bledsoe, Knight, Dudley, Chandler, James, Peters.

Leaving us $18m for 3 players to reach the salary floor, possibly -

Williams / Len

Whats the point in buying Knight out? his contract would still count against the salary cap.

Am I missing something? Tim Hardaway just got 17 million dollars a year contract?

He's been BAD with us. I get it. If my team was bad, I'd take a gamble on him. I think his career will turn around on a different team.

and Michael Beasley averaged 19 ppg at one point. In these cases, the stats aren't very telling. they are circumstances where high ppg can be attained on bad teams lacking scoring options. and In Knight's case it was at the cost of low FG percentage and killing the offensive flow.

Good point, but I think Knight is better than we all think. They both have the same IQ. Knight will be better soon, I just think he needs a new team.

**** sarver should be all over the buy out. Knights contract is done and a sunk cost anything that can be saved on a buyout is a bonus to sarver.

And yes whatever knight takes less in a buyout comes off the cap hit for him spread equally over the next 3 years.

yes, but it can be stretched and gets reduced when another team signs him. Also, it's just a good gesture.

Do you guys think Davon Reed will get serious minutes this season?

Is Knight worth being $4m cheaper than Hardaway to Atlanta?

While it is a cost savings on what we would pay Knight, it's not necessarily a cost savings if we use that cap space/money to sign other players into it. Not that it bothers me but something I would consider if I was him.

It's been shown here with the cap references that when there is a buyout the buyout amount replaces the contract amount for cap purposes too and is spread out either pro rata via original contract or equally over the remaining years...either way it's roughly the same.

I think he could. I think he will be Booker's primary backup. If Bledsoe goes down he could get a lot of minutes.

Thats not correct. Only the buyout number counts against the cap. Whatever that number is would be divided by 3 for the years he has left.

Now knight doesn't have to accept less but if he wants out and thinks he can recoup or make more the next 3 years than he gives up then he'll work something out.

I do get the feeling we're at this point with him since he's never mentioned when anyone on the suns talks about the team. We're probably in the letting his agent try to find a trade portion of this process. If we start hearing things like "knight will compete for minutes" over the next couple weeks then its a sign they can't find a trade or agree on a buyout. If knight won't give up any money then the suns might as well keep him for the time being. Because once you cut or stretch him he can't be included in a trade to match saleries. And realistically if he can't beat out ulis or reed for minutes then he has no right to complain for just sitting.

His 3 and D profile is exactly what they need on the wing so there's a pretty good chance hes a rotation guy but he's never played a minute in the NBA so if he comes out doesn't produce guys like Jones, James, and maybe knight will be gunning for his minutes.
