You know, it might sound weird, but i think that the fact that we have never won a title could be a selling point to Lebron. Yeah, he could go to LA, and be just another champ on the wall. Sure he could play in Houston, where they already have some banners hanging up in the rafters. But coming to a city that has had one of the most winningest franchise and has never actually won the whole thing, that takes Lebrons legacy up a notch. Why be one of a hundred or so guys that have won titles in those other cities when you can come here and be the 1st! Be a legend and not just a paper champ hiding in the east. Come to the Suns and help cement that legacy!

It amazes me how many fans here don't want LeBron to sign here.

I wonder if any other fan base in the NBA has nearly as many posters or fans who don't want the best player in the league to play for their team even if it's for 2 years or 1 year or 5 games or whatever.

Frank Lee wrote:If he leaves then yes. The Heat become a shattered squad. Have to rebuild from scratch without the aid of player collusion... Their fans are left choking on the dust as their Savior gallops off into the sunset towards another kingdom to conquer.

lebron likes to win but he found out its much easier with a stacked deck... It will be his curse, his mustard stain on his legacy lapel. In his mind, accumulating the most rings will make him the best.... But he'll never be the best 'Bull' or 'Laker' or 'Celtic' .... Those labels are much more valuable and belong to guys who have the stones to endure. Kobe could have gone anywhere 2 or 3 times but he stuck it out. It was his team. LA was his town. MJ owned Chicago...Bird was Boston.

Like some one said, James is a mercenary,,, and mercenaries are heartless, soulless, whores for hire. He just happens to be the most expensive one. Yup, he''ll show you a damn good time. Then grab his money off the dresser and leave without so much of a thank you. It's all about him. What happened to the 7 rings he promised? Nope, the going got tough so it's time to get going....

You watch and see if doesn't have an opt out, wherever he goes. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't bet against it.

The Heat weren't much of a squad before he joined. Before the Big 3, it was Wade with Beas, Chalmers and Haslem. Most of the other guys weren't going to be resigned anyway so it wasn't like he came to a team full of young talent and left Miami with nothing.

If he joined and left after 2-3 seasons, I'd bet we'd still have a 26 year old Bledsoe, possibly Dragic, Len, Archie, picks and cap space ie our most important assets. Basically where we are now.

I sort of read that as misdirection by their agent and Miami. Let people think they are still working to lock up Bosh and Wade so other teams think there is still a chance and to wait while Miami look to grab other FA's. Perhaps I'm crazy.

That's what I'm getting as well. If the Suns just stand there waiting for LeBron and get spurned in the end while the other teams that moved on from waiting for LeBron sign all the good FAs, I think McD will lose a ton of credibility around the league.

I don't think McD is that stupid. Agents always say BS to do whatever is best for their client.

What good free agents? There ain't any.

1. Lebron boosting the suns chances of getting their first ring in the next 2 seasons.... Is worth taking the risk of him leaving 2-3 years down the track.

2. It's ironic because the "tankers" always wanted the suns to draft their own stars and build a championship team that way... But the anti-tankers used the "free agents star" signing as better more proven way to build a good team... Now that Suns are exactly doing that... You see some resistance... Some from the same anti tanking crowd who used free agency way as their ideal.

3. It's like some suns fans wants a fairy tale type story... Basically suns draft a 2nd rounder good guy who becomes an MVP candidate... Then suns FO surround him with cast off good natured hard working players in which they all sacrifice to form a good team in a non-mega city... And eventually winning a championship against a dream team type team from a mega-city.

Sounds like a future Disney movie!!

A lot of good role players FAs.

Trevor Ariza, Luol Deng, Jordan Hill, Ed Davis for example.

And as for the FA class a whole, this is the best FA class in NBA history. It just so happens that most of the players will likely be resigning with their respective teams, but technically their still part of the FA market.

Yeah- I think people are being really dumb saying they don't want Lebron on their favorite team. Personally, I wouldn't enjoy the media circus but winning far outweighs anything else. This franchise deserves to win a title. We just need a bit of luck for once.

I couldn't have said it any better. Perfect post and I'm bookmarking it to use in the future when people start whining about signing a superstar FA., hope you don't mind.

If the Suns win the the championship, I could care less if they have 100 million dollar roster. I just want to win. I have never heard one Diamondbacks fan say man, I wish the Diamondbacks would have won with home grown talent.

No, that is not what the anti tankers were saying. We were saying we didn't want to lose on purpose just to get the possible door number three prize. It always has to be a good mix of draft, FA, and trade. You need that balance.

It's more of a purist view on building a team, and chemistry is so high on the list.

Oh well, let's see how the guys we have play, hope Mcd can pull some miracles, and roll for a fun season.

That's not what the Suns need. I won't be disappointed if we miss out on these guys.

End of the day...
... If suns Don't break any rules or do any loophole type illegal transaction...
.... If suns don't sign a star player that is satan reincarnated....
... Suns don't use evil tactics on and off court...

Why would you not want the suns win a ring?

Likeable or unlike able players on the side... You cheer and root for the suns overall.
If Lebron and whomever joins the suns miraculously and they win their first ring.... You celebrate it like no tommorow because... A Championship can be once in a lifetime.

I almost always start the season in a positive optimistic outlook on the team. I loved what we did last season. We had a fun team, that we watched grow right before our eyes. We had the whole greater than the sum of its parts, even with our second best player out. Heck even if we roll with last year's squad (healthy), and add some rookies and a few small FA signings, I'd still be excited to watch them.

I'm totally fine with Lebron coming here, but again, he would just be part of the whole.

I get this point of view, but personally I just don't care for the whole Lebron 'brand', his play-style or his antics in the past. I'd prefer not to have to try and muster up enthusiasm for a player I don't like.

I want the Suns to win of course. We can do that without Lebron. Having him would not guarantee us anything anyway, as he has lost two finals and been eliminated earlier in five other playoff runs.

Winning a title with the Clown would be the same as getting an airtight palanquin with internal heating, sat tv and a bar, go to Nepal, make a bunch of locals carry you up to the top while you enjoy your luxury ride without as much as peeking outside and after that pat yourself on the chest and brag that you're the king of the world and you singlehandedly conquered Mount Everest.
I'm sorry, but anyone who wants that kind of title is not a sports fan. That's not what sports is about.

He's (I think) scheduled to meet with the Heat, but not if he first decides Toronto will remain his home.

"Sports" are a business. The best player in the game would make the franchise a grip of money more than the current squad is. Do you think they care if that goes against some kind of unspoken ethos about playing a game people pay to watch? Last time I checked there wasn't a lot of money in the hiking Everest business.

Had me at "winning a title"...
