I actually think the lakers signing was a decent deal.

In what way is Marquise Chriss ever going to be an NBA SF? Bender I can somewhat understand, but no freaking way on Chriss. Chriss is a PF through and through. He's closer to a future 5 than a 3. The NBA is trending positionless with guys playing up, not forcing bigs to play the 3.

I'd be okay with Carroll, so long as Tucker is moved. Move Chandler too. Carroll could bring Warren along and Bender and Chriss can man the 4 with some backup 5 minutes to Len.

So you can see the less athletic, 2.5" taller Rookie as a possibility at SF, but the guy who's proven to be able to shoot from outside (in games for long stretches), and by all accounts, is more athletic and if coached up properly, will be able to 'cover' the smaller, more agile 3s--that player you can't see as a 3?

LeBron James is nearly 6'9" and 250lbs. I don't know, but I'd feel better having the hyper-athletic, 6'10" 235lb guy covering LeBron more so than the average athletic, 7'.5" 216lb "bean pole" try to cover LeBron.

Chriss is closer in height and closer in athleticism than Bender, so I don't see how you can see Bender as being the better SF candidate.

No. I'm saying the guy who is already an unusually good defender and who has proven he can guard wings in spurts and who can handle the ball and pass like a wing is a better fit for SF than a super athletic but incredibly raw guy who has proven to foul at a near historic rate because he tries to block everything in site and has never played the 3 or on the wing in his entire basketball life, which is a whopping 5 years long.

If you want Chriss playing the 3 from scratch and learning an entirely new position while transitioning to the NBA. Okay, but that's a near guarantee to cap his upside and kill his career.

Yeah, Watson already said the same...that he thinks Bender can play the 3 so they can play together.

Just wait until you see the money. How much would you pay him? And for the record, I'd love to have him, even at what it will cost.

Yes, bargain of the league. He'd probably get 3/40 in this market.

I would think we have the upper hand in landing JD. He's wanted to come back. I do hope. That would be wünderbar.

Monroe doesn't fit our style, if you want him, might as well go for Okafor.

the contracts being given are making me sick...

Stars I can understand the 25-30 million a year deals... they sell jerseys, they attract TV rights etc... they bring money in.

Mozgov WILL not sell more than 10 jerseys next season... will not be the deal breaker for TV rights....

Offer him 10 million a year and see if he passes... but 17??? geez.
