Well, if you're serious about moving KD (I'm highly skeptical) and doing it right, you're doing the due diligence now to have it lined up & ready to go. You set your Butler deadline far enough in advance of the actual trade deadline to allow you to finalize that contingency plan. It's a convoluted exercise that could end up holding up multiple things, so that Butler deadline could end up being quite soon. You just have to define "down to the wire" in a way that allows you to pivot (IF that's a pivot you want to make). I imagine they should be doing the same with their smaller alternatives if no Butler deal happens and they stick with KD.
