Because it's likely Milwaukee would match almost any offer if they haven't already gotten a hand shake deal done already.
I rate Brogdon higher than DLo in terms of need and fit but DLo right now just seems to be the one more likely to be available since all signs point to Kyrie signing with the Nets.

Im thinking Suns will trade Johnson, Warren for someone like Paul. Paul is nasty contract wise but most of the guys will be on Rookie deals for the duration of it. Johnson is a salary dump and Warren gives the Rockets a piece.
They do it IMO as long as they don't need to include 6. Why? They give a young PG a couple of years behind Paul while the Suns hopefully be competitive.
They then sign a PF with the mid level.
My guess. Probably wrong but I sense something massive is up.

I don’t see what Jrue does for us long term. How long is his deal? By the time we are relevant he will be over the hill. Short term he makes us better for sure.

I couldn't think of anything worse than having a prima donna in CP3 on this team. He was always a prima donna but at his peak he had the talent and elite effectiveness to be worthy of having that kind of personality on the team. He's 34 now and while he's still good, there's few things worse than a player who's clearly on the decline (and can't stay healthy) but still thinks he's an elite player and acts like it. Melo comes to mind but by most reports, Melo is well liked by his team mates.
And if CP3 clashes with Harden, I don't want to risk him clashing with Booker who plays a similar game. Last thing I want is to bring in the guy that drives Booker out when we didn't need to. I'm so done with this team if we make a trade for Paul, even for a 2nd rounder that would never convert.

People need to stop with the Horford stuff. You dont need to worry, he isnt coming here. He has already said he is looking to win a title and the last place he will want to go in FA is here. Hell, he knows the Celtics are losing Kyrie and he knows its time to bail on them as they will be going nowhere fast. It wouldnt surprise me to see him sign in LA for much cheaper than what Boston was reportedly offering. You have Lebron/Davis/Horford, get a 3 point shooting SG on the cheap (They are a dime-a-dozen) and re-ink Rondo for defensive purposes (And to help get the ball into the bigs). Hell, re-sign Lance Stephenson too and the starting line-up is set.

I would be shocked if they traded for Paul. If they make a move for a big name player we are not talking about my guess is it's Conley. I think he'd prefer to play for a contender but I think they'd only trade for him if his agency decided they like the idea for whatever reason.
Honestly, if they are not getting DLo or Beverley and Jrue and Brogdon are not going anywhere, I think Conley is a guy that would make us MUCH more competitive. Though it would take Tyler Johnson opting in first....if we are trading TJ, I'd rather it be in a deal like this than more space for the lesser names. I wouldn't trade our pick for him though...just the players and maybe the Bucks pick or our 2nd. If we are just trading them anyway, and Tyler Johnson is expiring anyway....Conley is a hell of a lot better than Tyler Johnson even though I like Tyler. And I think it would be fine either way if he opted out next summer...it would likely give us a decent amount of cap space if he did...and if not, we can maybe draft a PG next year and groom him for a year (or maybe Okobo becomes something).
Ultimately I think Utah or possibly Boston or Indiana ends up with Conley but he is a guy on the block at least that is a borderline all star level player.
I was going to say he's currently better than DLo but man, this has to be the closest player comparison on raw stats I have seen. Even advanced stats are super close. BPM and VORP are near identical.
Conley has the far better TS%, likely because he gets to the line more than twice as much and shoots quite a bit better from the line.

3 years with the third year a player option. He’s 29 so he definitely has 3 solid years left in him. He is probably the best pick and roll defender in the league at the PG spot these days. He would immediately make us 10 wins better. If you can pull off an even average PF after trading for Jrue we are a playoff team. Even if you trade #6 to do so.
My offer would be TyJo, JJ, and #6. They’d get $20M in space after this year plus another young guy to build around or package it to move up with #4 for say RJ or even Morant. Incidentally this is my same offer at the trade deadline if we don’t do it now. Off the top of my head we’d have $15M or so to go after a PF if it’s done prior to the draft. Maybe Mirotic would take that deal?
Jrue/Melton
Book/Elie
Oubre/Bridges
Mirotic/TJ
Ayton/Bender? Holmes?

Who is desperate enough to offer a 4yr contract to Horford?

Be funny if it was the Knicks. Maybe Brooklyn, who wants a PF and wants to sell. I think he makes some sense for the Clips but I kind of think Jerry West is too smart to give him that long of deal.

I don't disagree in principle but Paul is going to be a cheaper trade wise than Conley. They are speculating possibly a couple of firsts for Conley. Paul is probably almost free to any home.

I don't think the Lakers make a ton of sense given their already 2 max frontcourt players. Same with Bulls. I almost said Mavs before but I don't know if he can switch onto perimeter, and Porzingis can't.
The Kings maybe if they somehow are not re-signing Barnes....he'd fit really well there...doubt he'd want to go there though.

Maybe a couple firsts for a team like Utah, because they'd be late. If they really want that we could give the Bucks pick and our 2nd this year which is 3 picks away from a first.
Chris Paul no way...not with his reputation among teammates. Too old and injury prone. He's 34. Conley is only 31. That's a big difference. Conley only has 2 years too with his player option. With Paul we'd have to trade all of TJo, TJ and Josh...we could maybe come close with just the TJs but probably a little short.
But no way I want Paul....I'd be really surprised if they had any interest in him at all.

If Woj is right and we trade JJ and TJ before the draft and open up 24 mil in cap room, you have to think that we are confident we are getting Dlo.
Then do we take Clarke at #6?
Dlo/Bumpy
Book
Bridges
Oubre/Clarke
Ayton
I'd rather keep TJ, stretch Bumpy, and take BPA at 6

I’d be surprised with that scenario.
Btw if it’s just cap space that the Suns want, why wouldn’t they trade Johnson and Jackson instead of Warren and Jackson?

Coincidence that Horford cuts off talks with the Celtics and is reportedly looking at a 4yr./$100M contract from an unnamed team the same day that the Lakers are trying to restructure their Davis deal so they have around $32M to spend in FA?
