For the first time in years, the trades I'm seeing proposed by fans all seem to make this team worse. I know it's trite to compare all things to business, but look, we have appreciating assets here. We have youth, picks, and cap space. Everyone you guys are talking about acquiring is expensive, older, at their peak or on their way down. Thank God our FO is better than this.

I LOVE our center spot right now. A very good young big on a rookie contract, a potentially great center on a rookie contract backing him up. I don't want to mess with that. Let them develop. No Pau, no Noah, keep your $, develop your players, be patient. All things considered, we're likely to make the playoffs without a major addition. So why all these ridiculous panic proposals?!? Everything's headed the right direction!

Okafor has three uses: as leverage in a deal for a max-level young player, or as a piece to pick up an extra long-term asset, or as insurance $ and cap space this summer.

Given the development of our players, our continued success, and our exciting play, I'm disappointed at how shortsighted and fantasy-basketballesque these proposals appear. Our bargaining position will be even better this summer, when we have space, picks, and when key targets appear more likely to leave their teams. I don't consider myself a particularly patient person - but I know value when I see it, and we have it. HOLD.

We have appreciating assets.
We have playoffs aspirations.

One move makes sense for both, or at least doesn't suffocate the other, you entertain it.

Worth it/Not worth it.

And why Okafor does need to have just three uses?

Not even championship teams can stand pat. Even if a team wins a championship roster changes happen. Your thinking with your heart not your head. I agree Len should not and will not get traded. He was drafted at number 5 for a reason. Basically I think only three players are near untouchable, dragic, Len, and Bledsoe. Everyone else can be upgraded.

I also agree Noah is redundant, we basically already have him in plumlee. Pau, I wouldn't mind for emeka straight up. To me that's basically free.
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

Only a fan of Arizona teams!

Yeah, but to Sarver, thats 10 million bucks.... 5.7 mill payout + Pau's remaining 19mill per yr.

I don't think its worth renting pau for 10 mill... We are on pace to make the playoffs as is...or get damn close. There might be 2-3 playoff game revenues for the effort... but adding the fragile fLaker ups the break-even point to the second round of play off games. Just not a good return.

Safe bet is no Pau, sneak in as the 7th/8th seed with 2-3 games extra revenue, and cash in with Oka4.

I'd like to know how the core of this team reacts to having one big man who can produce on his own (for what it looks, Len is really far away). It doesn't need to be the focus of my offense, but I'd like it to exist. But yeah, it's not my money.

If it works I sure would like to have it for the April games. Our playoffs start early this season.

More than likely this is what we do. However, there could also be more tickets sold, and jersey sales with a bigger named player. Probably not $10 million profit to offset the costs.

Personally, I think Pau is a complainer, and not the type if guy that adds toughness to the team. But he does have a bunch of talent, even at his older age.

It's nice to be in the driver's seat on Okafor. We have options, that really might not affect the current team, or even make us better. But whoever we get, minutes will be tight for Jeff, but options might be better.

I guess another way to state it is,

One of my favorite things about Emeka is that we don't see him. All the time he would have, instead we get Plumlee and Len and Markieff - young guys with potential. Pau would take time from all those guys.

We want to make the playoffs, yes. But WHY do we want to make the playoffs? Is it not to get our young guys playoff experience, to further their growth?? And if it's that, then don't we want them to (a) get there themselves and (b) play in them??

Let the kids play.

I totally see that point, and agree that minutes get tight if we made a move like that. However, adding a vet, who has a nice post game and range to possibly teach those young kids, could be an asset as well.

You certainly have to be careful when screwing with a good thing. The only trade that feels necessary would be for a wing - everything else, especially with the way the Morii and Plumlee have been playing, seems like a risk.

If Memphis goes on a losing streak, what would it take to get the other Gasol...?

Marc Gasol is almost untouchable for Grizzlies.
If anything they can retool next year when Pau Gasol joins them, which is what some people with knowledge think will happen.

Why would we want Gasol? An old, expensive, half court player that struggled with run n gun style?

We're fine as we are right now. If you want to improve, look somewhere else.

I'd look towards Atlanta :D

For way less than anyone here thought they could be had for.

At least that's my hope.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I think Dragic would definitely welcome Pau Gasol, someone else who can score in isolation plays.

Suns trade Okafor, Indy's first for Charlie Villanueva and Greg Monroe. Waive Villy immediately as the Suns would be over the 15-man roster.

Me too. Durant, LeBron, and Love as well. Too bad these are guys that are untouchable this year. There is also the problem with Horford that he is out for the year.
