Have you looked at other stats? Or just those? Enes plays closer to the basket for one. Can he guard the rim? Pts and rebounds for centers are less important for a team like us than a guy that can provide rim protection and play great D. Our offense is fine. But our interior D could use some work.
Any center I would trade Kieff for is not on the block. But right now you can't really trade Kieff anyway unless you get a quality PF back. You almost need to luck out in the draft with a center. Unfortunately it looks like we haven't had great luck with that, taking Lopez over Jordan and Hibbert and then taking Len over Noel, Adams and Dieng.
Hopefully Len develops, but we probably need to draft another center next year. They say the biggest improvement usually comes in your second year. Unfortunately he broke his finger so he will be out for the summer. But he should improve this year. It's just a little unfortunate that some of the other rookie centers already looked good last year, but they are older, particularly Dieng.
Plumlee could take a huge step forward too. He basically got his first taste of NBA action this year, and likely learned some things and the hard work it will take to succeed.
Maybe if we sign Millsap next summer we deal a PF for a center, but it might be tough to get rid of Kieff.
It would be nice to pry Gasol from Memphis in free agency, but lets be real, that is not going to happen. Asik will be a free agent too now that I think about...so if we can clear or have cap space, we should go after him. He might be obtainable.
I think the Pelicans could be tough this year and potentially make the playoffs. They have some talent and if AD takes another step forward they will be extremely tough on the inside, especially for a team like us who struggled against Houston and Memphis.
