Oh, and I have to let out a hardy chuckle to anyone that believes there is no market for goran. Not that the suns would trade him.
"Mannnnn I’m like the guy that pissed this whole board off saying literally all year no Mikal, no Mikal in the KD trade."

When he hits FA there will be a great market for him. Doesn't make sense for teams to trade for him with no guarantee of him re-signing.

But we are constantly working on deals for Kevin Love. Weird.

Love has already said he's opting in this summer because he wants new contract after cap goes up.
Goran said he's opting out whether to resin here or elsewhere.

Re: Official Trade Thread: The Block Is Hot!!
As down as I have been on Goran this season, the thought of keeping Thomas over him makes me cringe. Seeing Thomas in the starting lineup this past Sunday alongside Dragic blew my mind. I could not believe Hornacek did that. He should have started Gerald Green next to Dragic like last year when it was so successful. I have never seen a team like the Suns purposefully put themselves at such a disadvantage defensively by playing so many small players all game long. They are not just small either. They are super small.
If the Suns trade Dragic and keep Thomas I will be extremely disappointed. Thomas represents everything to me that is wrong with today's NBA. A 100% me first attitude. I knew he was going to be trouble when he said before the season started that he did not care if he starts, as long as he is in the game at the end. What a joke. Like I want a 5'9" player playing defense at crunch time. We have all seen Thomas get destroyed by the other point guards in the West. Ugh this is so crazy to think the Suns could pick Thomas over Dragic.
Literally everybody on this board understands that while Thomas a really good scorer, trading him would be addition by subtraction. Screw his so called bargain contract. Getting rid of him opens up playing time for the young guys, allows Green to be the first guard off the bench again, and eliminates the super small aspect of the team.

I agree. Even though there will be plenty of suitors in FA with the cash to get him, there are also plenty of teams that would love to have him, but dont have the capspace to get him in the offseason. That only leaves their chance at getting him via trade. Houston would LOVE him. At this point, id rather take Jones (Or Motie), Capella, Pelicans 1st than let him walk. We know the Pacers would love him and they wont have the caproom to sign him in FA either. The Bucks? Yup, them too.
So there are at least 3 teams that would want him besides the teams that will definitely make an offer in FA (Lakers/Knicks).

Only if you ignore all the people that keep telling you how wrong you are. I understand that people hold different opinions but this tactic of justifying your position by claiming that "everybody knows" gets old real quick. I don't know that it will be addition by subtraction and I know a lot of posters here that don't "know". Maybe it will but given how poorly we played when IT was out and how often we've needed him to bring us back in a game this season, I have serious doubts we'll be better off simply by dumping him. Although I find it bizarre, there are even posters here that believe IT is a better player than Goran. Go figure, apparently we don't all think the same.

letsgosuns wrote:DirtyDez wrote:Everyone calls us a 3 PG team yet none of them are true PG's. I don't think you need one to win a title anyway. Who was the last team that had a natural "pass first" PG to win a championship?
I agree with this. I do not believe you have to have a pass first point guard to win a championship. I think they just have to be unselfish and not a ball hog. The last pass first point guards I can think of to win a championship were Jason Kidd and Rajon Rondo and both of them were not the stars of the team when they won. All the other champions usually had great shooting guards and big men with a role playing point guard or scoring point guard. Tony Parker to me is the ultimate scoring point guard who is unstoppable yet he is not selfish. Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Deron Williams (when he was younger), all great passing point guards and not one of them has even made the finals. John Stockton is the best example of a pure passing point guard that never won the championship.
I think Bledsoe would become unselfish if he was given the reigns of this team. Maybe he could play in the style of how Gary Payton played without the trash talk. Average around 18-20 ppg and 8-9 asst with smothering defense.
Right now, the three point guard system is so stupid and all three players want the ball. You can literally compare anything in life to it to analogize how redundant it is. Does a musical group really need two or three lead singers, or do they need a singer, a bass player, a drummer, and maybe a rhythm and lead guitarist. Pretty obvious to me. No need to have so many cooks in the kitchen.
I think it's generally better to have a passing pg to get everyone involved unless you have a Kobe/Shaq, Duncan, LeBron, Jordan, etc. Plus, I don't think if any of those guys played with pass first point guards it would have prevented championships.
It's kind of ridiculous to say these pass first point guards haven't won when they weren't playing with the types of superstars who won in those championship years.
There is not one simple recipe for winning it all other than having multiple superstars, and then of course that doesn't guarantee anything.
I think most of us would prefer ball movement though, and if the whole team doesn't do it much, or you don't have a superstar, it's nice to have a guy that can run the show and get other guys the ball in the right spots.

Re: Official Trade Thread: The Block Is Hot!!
Rockets are the ones that I see being desperate for Dragic... since they cant outright sign him in the off-season. So they need to trade for him *now*.
Starts with D.Mo (as most have already said earlier this season)

Sunsdeuce wrote:I challenge you to explain to me how bledsoe and his lousy shooting, large amount of turnovers per game, 5 assists per game (most PGs can accidently get 5 assist per game) is worth $70 million?!?!?!?!!??!?
There is a reason teams are lining up to get their hands on Goran (lakers, rockets, knicks) and NOT one team even offered bledsoe a contract!!!!!!!!
So, you are saying Dragic is worth more than $12M per? I never once said EB was worth $14M--in fact, I said it was a slight overpay.
My point is Dragic is a 29 YO PG, EB is a 25 YO PG. Look at the comparison between their 5th seasons in the league:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... 4=&p5=&p6=
Notice the TOs. EB 3.1 to Dragic 2.8. PPG? 16.9 to 14.7. TReb? 5.6 to 3.3. Asst? 5.9 to 7.4.
Point being, very similar stats/production, and if EB is a TO machine, then you'd have to make the same assertion about Dragic. And I like the fact you rounded 5.9 down to 5--LOL!! Anything to make a point, right? Oh, and lousy shooting? Take a look at the % for Dragic compared to EB--yep, about equal as well. EB is in his 2nd year as a starter, he has a better chance of improving at age 25 then Dragic at 29, wouldn't you say?
And the reason EB didn't get a ton of suitors? It was a foregone conclusion that the Suns were matching regardless.
But, anyway, I'll remind you again that I'm not saying EB is on some great deal. My whole point to my argument was that Dragic is not worth more than $12M per, IMO. Do you disagree with that notion? Because if you do, then you must believe that EB is worthy of his $14M contract, since they are both incredibly similar players at their 5th season.

You think he'd take less than $3.5 million a year?

You really think a lot of teams would give up quality assets for 2 months of Goran? It would be quite risky. I'm not saying there isn't a market because I don't think he is good.

If he'd give a guarantee to re-sign, I think there would be a market. Houston might give up some of those guys for him, but we don't really have the roster space for more than one or two of them, and they don't really upgrade our team.
I agree that I'd rather get an asset (if we consider it an asset) than letting him walk though, if we were sure he will walk. But I really don't know that he'd rather go to LA or NY.
I don't think anyone outside of a few people on this board have any expectation that he will be traded or that he is even on the block though.

Possibly! He's out of the league if it wasn't for us giving him his minutes. I could see him only wanting to come back here because we have one of the few coaches who tell him to let if fly and lets him freely roam around. McD traded for him and lucked out and he turned into a good player in Phx. I could see McD having some sentimental value and bringing him back. He does seem like a good locker room guy and has been a pro's pro since his playing time has gone down. Now I don't want him back but it wouldn't absolutely shock me if McD brought him back.

What I would like to see happen:
1) IT to Philly for rights to Saric.
2) Trade Green for whatever we can get or let walk in the off season.
3) Sign & trade Dragic in the off season.
4) Sign Wes Matthews in the off season.

Correction: Dragic would need to be traded before the trade deadline and we would have to have the money off the books to sign Wes Matthews in the off season. I don't think 3 & 4 could happen this off season because we would need to release Goran's cap hold (and reduce more salary) to have enough money to sign Wes. We couldn't release Goran's cap hold and do a sign and trade unless we got no salary back - but then there would be no incentive for the other team since Gorans an UFA.

I always liked Payne - even for us in the draft. 6'10, with about a 40 inch vertical, good 3 point shooter, and free throw shooter, progressed in each year in college, had a good pick and roll/pop game with Harris, and seemed to be a good guy overall. A bit of a non-sexy pick due to his age I guess. I envisioned he could fill up some of the space left by Frye.
I think he will be a player in this league.

Great, another game against Gary Neal. Tied in the 4th, he hits 2 25 foot 3s to put the Hornets up 6, and then sinks 4 free throws in the last 30 seconds to ice it.
