The All star game is a complete joke. It’s almost as bad as the pro bowl. the slam dunk and 3pt shooting contests have lost all their luster. It’s a desperate hype job for TV. The biggest moment is the team selection and they are trying to make that pivotal entertainment. Baseball is about the sport somewhat able to pull it off.

Nothing to see here, keep moving.

I personally am happy that nobody on the Suns made it
If Lee is in three point contest fine

I get the point that Jaren Jackson made it over Ayton - wishing Ayton were all star level
but Booker needs the time off - well not time off from basketball - just not playing meaningless minutes when he has missed almost half the games of the season

Six big trades we want to see at the 2023 NBA trade deadline

Crowder finds a new home, Part 1
Brooklyn Nets get: Jae Crowder
Phoenix Suns get: Seth Curry, Kessler Edwards, two second-round picks

The Jae Crowder situation has dragged on all season long, with Phoenix effectively having to play down a man despite dealing with all sorts of injuries along the way. It's untenable for that to last through the deadline.

At the same time, if the price Phoenix was looking for was one teams were willing to pay, this saga would've ended months ago. Thus, we find ourselves at an impasse.

Brooklyn can at least give Phoenix a good player in Seth Curry, who can space the floor around Devin Booker and play off the ball. Curry's contract is up after this season and Edwards has a team option for 2023-24, which, along with the extra second-round picks, would leave Phoenix with more options in the future as Mat Ishbia gets set to take over as owner.

The Nets, meanwhile, need another rugged forward to be able to throw out there in playoff games. Brooklyn can't win a size battle with, say, Joel Embiid. Instead, the Nets need to lean into what they are and put more length, quickness and switchable defenders alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Crowder, in theory, can provide that. And if the Nets add Crowder, Curry becomes even less likely to be part of a closing lineup in a playoff game in Brooklyn.

I pointed out the above trade and he liked it from the Suns perspective

I think I would make it a three team deal though

Brooklyn: Crowder

Houst: Saric, Payne and two seconds from Brooklyn

Phoenix: Curry, GOrdon and Kessler

Both Curry and Gordon are expiring - but get two more shooters since my faith in Payne and Shamet is zero

JJJ is not really an all star. I don’t even think he’s that’s good. He’s alright.
For some reason Grizzlies players are overhyped which is probably why Ja Morant and the rest of those guys are so arrogant. I don’t think they make it out the first round. Definitely not the 2nd. Most overrated team in NBA history IMO.

That being said, the western conference all stars are terrible.
That has to be the weakest list of reserves I’ve ever seen.

I can see the logic behind JJJ. most defensive stats on the best defense in the west. it's not like Mikal who is a great defender but doesn't generate the spectacular stock averages.

I would obviously like Book to play. But resting, in our current situation, might be better.

I remember Barkley towards the end of his Suns career saying something like "If I can still average 20/10 I can still help a team" He would probably be averaging 30 in todays game.

By the end of his time with us it was nothing but posting up for whole possessions (illegal today) and mid-range jumpers. The most boring basketball I can remember as a Suns fan.

Young Barkley would rock the modern NBA, but old Barkley would get wrecked - switching to the perimeter on D and alternating between mid-range 2's and bricks from 3.

Scoring in the current NBA is actually really similar to the level it was when Chuck entered the league in the early 80s. Teams averaged about 110 per game in the early 80s, that was about last year's league average. This season it's raised to about 114. High but not as high as it was in the late 60s.

We saw a huge drop off in league scoring by the end of Chuck's career. The pistons and Rileys Knicks spearheaded the awful era of muck **** up and teams scoring in the 90s. People tend to forget that era was the **** outlyer for the NBA not the standard. That was also one of the least talented eras in NBA history because of rapid expansion and a bad drug problem that ruined careers.

The Nash suns were on the spearhead of getting out of those dark days and scoring has went up steadily since then.

It's funny when watch some hoops from the 60s through the early 80s, they played NO d at all. Defense is better today because we have better athletes but we also have much much better shooters and the 3pt shot.

Exactly. He missed a lot of time. And if he were to take it easy - he could still re-injure it. Granted he can do that in practice. Let somebody go to the charade of ugly uniforms, lays up and a glorified practice

related question but did team B even have to say no for it to count as a conversation? what if it was a prolonged laugh on the phone or a LOL emoji reply via text?

Lol well that would be a 'conversation'

I get this is a fan message board so we're going to talk about every rumor but find it funny when people treat every report like it's a hard fact. Even funnier is when people take what GMs say as the truth, like last year about this time the Nets emphatically saying Harden wasn't getting traded then trading him like two days later. GMs lie, it's part of the job description.

how do you justify snubbing Lauri and SGA? Especially putting in Kawhi who has only played 29 games?

Kyrie is always a god damn wildcard. This is why I just can't take Brooklyn seriously as a contender.
