But some teams which disappoint in the playoff will probably take a shot at a top 5 player who played well this season until the injuries and then the weirdness about whether he wanted out and then later about whether the team sat him rather than play him.
I have no interest in Giannis. I think Bucks could get a better deal elsewhere so it's kind of moot anyway
If we can get him on a reasonable deal to pair with Booker obviously we take it but yeah they can get more for him than whatever we can offer (while still having enough on the roster to compete after a trade).
The freebie stars we've missed since blowing everything away on KD are Deni, Trae, and Jrue.
Other significant options that have moved that were cheaper than what we gave up for KD: Towns, Siakam, OG Anunoby, and James Harden (who is also a better player than KD). I think Towns is a pretty similar impact player to KD at this point in KD's career, too.
of course, this has nothing to do with Giannis but to show that good players become available occasionally for relatively low cost. Imagine if we didn't blow our picks on KD there's a chance we can compete for Giannis in a trade? Or if we had positioned our cap properly and added one of Deni, Trae, or Jrue to our team without giving up very much?
It is what it is.
