Not that i really care, but i hope karma got that mofo finally and he rots in hell somewhere.
Other than that? Yea, the quality of the discussion took a dump, especially since the KD trade, but has been on the slide even before. But its not just this site, I guess all over the net. Maybe deeper topics have something to do with it, like the state of education all over the world, the "example" our leaders show in public appearences, etc.. it is what it its.

Education is a part of it. But a lot of it has to do with the rise of sites like reddit, twitter, etc., that lower the bar for what qualifies as "high quality". You can add slop sites like bleacherreport to the list if you want, too. AI certainly isn't making it better. Of course the whole thing is a symptom of being wrapped up in a socioeconomic trend based on economic structure (starts with c and ends with ism and it ain't the red word) and uh yeah that's a whole can of worms we don't need to get into here.

I can guarantee you as much as frank complains about our discussion quality, we are several football fields away from just how awful the discussion is on the suns reddit page. And in fact I'd say a lot of what we've talked about here is generally ahead of the curve i.e. you'll see sentiments expressed here on this board before they circulate to the lower rungs of suns discussion and certainly before the suns media sphere starts talking about it.

So we can give ourselves a friendly tug for that.

Steven Adams has been a nice surprise for me so far in the playoffs. After his huge injury and with his age and size I thought that he was basically done as a rotation player in the league...but he is looking really good out there with a big role coming from the bench.

He will be 32 years old next year. He probably will command a 2 year deal with a close to the full MLE.

Can we sign him for that $25M/2 years with that MLE money IF we get under the 2nd apron? He can probably be a nice starting C for 24 mpg.

I would rather Ishbia have hired goal as GM than one of his fcking cronies. What an absolute ***** human being that guy is.

He will go to a better team - the Suns won't be good this year
But to your point, if the goal is to get under the apron to be able to use the MLE and the only way to do that is to stretch Beal - thats why I am against five years of pain. He just won't be a difference maker to winning playoff games

My thought about Gregory is does he understand the league rules enough about trades but does he have a vision. As you can see it with Ainge and Presti - they make trades to set up future trades. So there is a method to the madness

Not sure if posted yet, but thoughts? I doubt we'd get one of Utah's own picks, but probably one they got from Mnny in the Gobert trade.

This is how I see the situation right now, especially after that Rockets win today.
I feel envy when thinking about the Rockets. They have some nice players and they signed in key additions in Brooks and VVV. Both are not really that good all the time, especially Brooks, but they bring in experience and a way to succeed. Youngsters have to follow.
It is completely different to build a roster 'a la Heat', or 'a la Suns', then being patient, going through the process and build the style you want to build. Nuggets, Celtics (to a certain extent), OKC, Memphis, Pistons, Hawks... those are teams in which you can see a clear sence in what they are doing. Then you can fall short, you can be unable to find the final pieces, or some of your players can underachive. But there is a line they draw or are still drawing to get to a certain place.

Then us, trying to solve everything by tossing money around which, in the first place, costs you more just because of the fact that everybody knows about your needs and desperation.

I do not think we have a clear vision of what we want to do. I hope I am wrong and going through the process of deciding on a new HC also means that we are not going to make big decisions until we have one and all the people onboard, except Ishbia and f****ed IT, have a clear path of the way we want to walk.

As I began this post, I envy the Rockets and if I was the Rockets GM and people around, I would not trade for KD in a million years. They could go to the second round or they could lose game 7 at home and feel bad, but that will encourage them to come back stronger next year. They is beuty in growing little by little. When you do that, you create a bond among your players and you will create the heart of a champion. Going the 'easy' way of throwing money around and make the journey three steps shorter could sound like a nice option, but it is nice to walk the path everyday and then arrive. Hey, those Bulls would have ever been the same, so successful, if they had beat the Pistons with some more help (let¡s say, like signing Alvin Robertson or a much better centre in 1988) than waiting and growing and then being ready to dethrone the champs and become champs themselves, hungry and hungrier every season.

As per the depth of the discussion here, I am sure that if those who like/love deepness in talking share their visions here with delicacy, time and care, everybody will enjoy what they post. It just takes some effort. And yes, I am also bored about the fantasy rosters with no head coach name or the style of play we want to implement.

Getting under the 2nd apron isnt enough to be able to offer that contract. Have to be under the 1st apron to get access to the full MLE. If you're far enough under the 2nd, you can use the tax MLE but thats worth half-ish of the full MLE

Ok, thanks.

Well, we can offer him a three-year deal starting at $7M. Probably that's enough.

This was the model of a Bobby Pincus trade a couple weeks ago and my thoughts at the time, and I think I responded to him on Twitter was something like "except for Ishbia probably liking the flash of Markkanen, I would skip Utah and take the Rockets part." He didn't seem to disagree

Markkanen is signed through 2029 and if you extend Booker - your team is Markkanen and Booker taking up $110-120m alone... not enough flexibility plus he is not the needle mover that the value of that contract shows.

Get the young players, get the picks and move forward

Yeah, I thought the same, that I'd rather take the Houston package, but if we are keeping Book, I think it would be more likely we'd accept the Utah package. Not that I think we'd be very good, but for KD I still think it's a nice package and then when Book finally decides he wants to move on and stop fighting for the play in, we could deal Markkanen as well.

I would do that deal. I think that Zion has a higher ceiling but I like the idea of buying low on Lauri too. He had an off year and Utah was tanking and making him sit. He will be better next year I feel.

Actually I wonder if the Jazz will try and win nxt season finally. If that's, the case they might be ready to USE some of their youth and picks to get someone. KD would never go there, but just having them in the dicussion would be a good thing to drive up the price.

Yeah, this trade was posted some time ago.

I really like Markannen but he is basically a KD type of player but worse at everything. Not sure he is even a better rebounding than KD, and KD isn't a good one. I would be OK getting Markannen and a good young player with upside or a future unprotected pick.

In this trade upposedly the pick that we get is the #21 in 2025 so the draft capital here is pretty bad.

And Landale is just a filler and he wouldn't make the final roster.

I would love to see CHA get the #2 pick and take Harper, then trade LaMelo to them for Suggs. Magic would need to add stuff but that is a good trade for both teams. Melo, if healthy would be an awesome fit on that ORL team giving spacing and play making to Paolo and Franz.

Suggs with Harper and Miller will give them a great core going forward.

Yeah, Adams has been great. I didn't watch much nba during the reg season, but watching role players like Adams or even Westbrook hustling during the playoffs has been fun.

Would love to get a player like Beasley, Josh Hart, or Norm Powell for bench scoring or spot starts.

there is no doubt in my mind Ishbia would take "style" over substance. meaning Houston could even add another FRP and I doubt Ishbia takes it

granted, if Gregory is good at player development - one would hope that the suns kind of get back to that type of rebuild

Yeah, I think the Jazz will start to compete. They will have 2 second year players in Collier and Filipowski, one 3rd year player in Sensabaugh and a 3rd year player in Kessler. Then they will have a top pick and the 21st pick. You can only not try to compete for so long before guys start to develop losing habits. Plus, if they get Cooper Flagg, you don't want to tank. But even any of the top guys. Bring them into a team really trying to compete. Start one or two vets but give all the young guys a lot of minutes.
