Re: NBA Draft and NCAA Basketball
Is Doncic projected to be like a dominant guard/wing with the stats to back it up? like 25/8/8 type player?

You mean like MVP stats? Probably not...at least not real soon. I haven't seen any real projections. I think he's hard to say. He is a guy that is poised and will look for his teammates first. Probably somewhat like a bigger Nash who can rebound and defend better, and is a better passer at the same age, but a worse shooter.
Better passer may sound odd, but Nash wasn't much of a passer at the same age, his first year in college...

He'd probably average double digit assists in a D'Antoni offense though.
Doncic shoots nearly 60% from 2, and 83% from the line, and shot 40% and 35% from 3 the last two years, but this year on much heavier volume and probably all of the defensive attention, he is at 33% from 3. But I think in the NBA with more spacing and catch and shoots, he would shoot a lot better. I think I read a while back that on catch and shoot 3s he shot about 40%.

I am afraid Doncic will be another soft Euro player like Bender!

Doncic averages 19-6-5 per 30 minutes in Europe.
I will need to watch more about how he scores as he is slower than Lonzo Ball who struggles to create seperation.

That's one of the last things you should worry about him. He's drawing 6 fouls in 26 minutes per game in Euroleague. You can tell he likes/tries to draw contact and doesn't shy away.
60 points in 2 games against Olympiacos is impressive.

Trae Young:
22 points, 11 assists, 4 steals, 6 TOs
7-21 FG, 6-13 2PA, 1-8 3PTA, 7-7 FT

So that puts his conference play %s at 41.67% overall, 36.1% from 3, and then he averages 8.67 apg, and 6.75 topg.

Man Jaren Jackson put up a stinker today. Would have to watch the game, but 4 fouls in 13 minutes is Chriss-like.

He may end up being a rich man's Ibaka but it will take a while. Might be too raw for us.
Bamba is raw too but he can would be a game changer right away on defense and on the boards. I mean imagine if his ceiling is Deandre as a near 70% ft shooter?
I don't think Ayton is right for this team...

There is absolutely no way we take Jaren Jackson Jr.... we already have bender and Chriss, two young prospects at the 4! Why would we and another !? It’s not happening

Curious why you don't think Ayton is right for this team. Defensive focus? I mean I picked Young in the poll so I am unsure about Ayton as well and sometimes lean towards the defensive Cs, particularly JJJ since he is such a good shooter.

I agree that I wouldn't take Jaren Jackson, but on the other hand neither Bender nor Chriss are good enough to be drafting around, and I'd rather have JJJ than either of them probably. That said, there should be better options where we draft.

I only watched the end when he didn’t play much. But if he was guarding that monster Haas (7’2” Sr.) then his foul trouble is perfectly understandable. Dude was punishing MSU.

Re: NBA Draft and NCAA Basketball
The more I'm thinking about our team, the more I'm leaning towards the following picks:
Starting line-up:
Doncic / Payton / Reed
Booker / Knight
Josh Jackson / Warren
Warren / Jaren Jackson Jr (ultimately Jackson would replace Warren) / Chriss
Bender / Chriss / Sauce
The versatility of that line-up is crazy and they would be super fun to watch.
- Suns pick - Luca Doncic: I see the suns embracing positionless basketball more and more, especially with Bender looking like to be our center for the future and Warren and Jackson our forward combo. Doncic would fit well as a 'can do everything' kind of guard, and his passing and rebounding would be welcome.
- Miami pick - JJJ: This is a bit of a pipedream but we have the assets to move up in the draft, and I'm still confident the Miami pick will be in the lottery. Jaren Jackson Jr. would be a great pairing with Bender, eventually replacing TJ Warren in the starting line-up (who I still see an instant offense 6th man). They have the potential to become the most versatile defensive frontcourt in Suns history, while providing elite spacing on offense.

I pretty much agree with everything there and Bender/JJJ can switch between 4/5 but both can hit the 3, have huge length and can block shots, play D. That's what you WANT in today's NBA.
Getting both is a pipedream. I seriously doubt anyone is trading out of the top 7 or 8 though. Now if the Miami pick was 8 or 9 and we added the Milwaukee pick or something, just to move up a couple of spots if Jackson was still there, that is possible.
I REALLY REALLY hope Doncic is at the top of McD's board, but for some reason I suspect he isn't.

Ayton has some bad habits that will be tough to overcome. He doesn't challenge anything at the rim for fear of getting embarrassed. He admitted he's scared to get dunked on before the season. That's a red flag for a big man. Offensively you can't complain. He's got all the skills and will benefit from leaving Miller's system like Lauri has done.
JJJ is almost the opposite. Not a lot of polish but great motor/instincts. He wants to erase everything and has 43 more blocks in 200 less minutes than Ayton. I'd be more than thrilled with either prospect but both would have some issues here for different reasons.
Bamba will be a DPOY caliber player and he's not a late-game liability at the FT line...

The Tyson Chandler Syndrome. Probably shouldn't be mentored by Chandler for a year then.
