Wait so who's transcendent???

Surely if said player is so transcendent they wouldn't be passed on by 3 other teams?

I would use that term for guys like Towns, ADavis...those calibre of players from recent drafts. I don't see any guys that talented this draft, maybe a handful of All Stars but nobody you'd 'hitch your wagon to' without a shadow of a doubt.

I think he just means draft the best talent, regardless of position. We need to infuse our roster with more talent at the greatest volume as opposed to skipping on a guy just because of what's on your roster. Booker and TJ are probably the most secure players, and Bled, Knight and Len are McD's guys too, but if they think Dunn or Buddy or Murray or Brown or Poeltl is the best talent, they shouldn't let having a guy at that position sway them. Grab the talent, figure it out later. Moves can be made later to even things out.

Though I do believe that we are a better team than last season showed. Bledsoe and Knight both missed significant time and Markieff was sabotaging. Not to mention TJ went down too.

McD did say he's not opposed to taking a guard if he feels they are the best talent on the board and his approach has always been to do that and sort things out later. Not sure he's the best at sorting those things out, but if he's telling the truth, he will take who he feels is BPA which is extremely subjective considering who might be best now is probably not the same person who will be best in 3 years, and might be pretty far down the list in 3 years. I mean rookies of the year Tyreke and Michael Carter Williams are not exactly still lighting up the league.

Anyone hear anything more on philly or boston wanting to move their draft picks yet? We have to get in on this trade interest before someone else gets that brooklyn pick.

For my part, I would try to accomodate everybody by perhaps making it a three way trade. Phoenix/Philly/and Boston.

Phoenix sends Philly brandon knight, and the #13. Boston sends us their unprotected Brooklyn 2017 pick. And Boston sends Philly their #3 pick.

Philly sends Boston Okafor. We also send Boston tucker and a future miami 2018 first to add to the chicago trade they will do after ours as a sweetener .

Then Boston can send Chicago Okafor (centerpiece) avery bradley, tucker, the miami 2018 first, etc. for jimmy butler.

I guess you could call it a 4 way trade if you really wish, But Boston would be the one furthering the trade for butler.

I like this trade for us, in that we keep our #4 pick. Acquire a fantastic lottery pick in a loaded 2017 draft. And only really give up....Knight/ (Booker starts at 2 now)Tucker(whom we need to move to make room for warren/bogdan anyways) , miamis' 2018, and our 13th pick.

Then we use our #4 pick on Bender/Murray/Chriss/ Ellenson....whoever. and our #28? On Thon Maker/Jackson/Demetrius Jackson/Brice Johnson / or Zhou Qui.

2nd round pick on a draft and stash player in Cornelie or Juan hergomez.

I like this trade for Philly because they move Okafor, But get knight for their two guard spot. Can now use bostons' third pick to get their point guard in dunn, and round out their roster.

I like this trade for boston because they eventually get their very prized piece in butler and only have to give up the third pick, brooklyns' pick, and some other pieces while keeping tucker to add to their playoff roster with butler.

And Chicago has to like this as they get the most they could hope for out of this deal, should they have to move butler.

They get okafor to play inside out with rose, perhaps keeping them relevant. Also they get other decent pieces from boston in bradley/etc. and a future pick in the miami 2018 pick.

Hopefully everybody walks away with something fair and good in this scenario.

Why are you acting like flexibility isn't important? OKC almost took the Warriors out by going big on them. The Warriors could match their size because they have a deep roster and a coach who knows how to utilize the talent on his team.

Right now, the Suns have basically 0 skilled bigs. No FA is coming to Phoenix this offseason unless we massively overpay.

If only there was a way to get skilled young players to fill that gap and play for our team for the next 4 years. It'd be even better if after those 4 years we have some sort of guaranteed way of matching their next contract, so they'll be here when we can actually compete.

If only such a process existed...

Everyone who wants a guard in this draft, don't forget we're trying to bring this guy over for next season.

Image

Oh, you wanted shooting? He shot 46.4% from 3 in the Turkish league this year.

You wanted size? He's 6'6" 204 lbs.

You wanted intangibles? He just led his team to a Turkish league championship.

We're not drafting Hield or Murray at 4.

Yeah, no way Knight and 13 nets us an unprotected Brooklyn pick. It's just a pick swap next year, though I guess that's not much difference. Those unprotected Brooklyn picks are untouchable and would likely only be moved in a Butler deal or for a better player.

That's too bad, if true. He'll fall down to the 2nd Rd if true.

Also forgot to add Jake Layman to my list of "Shooters"--improved every season from FT and 3PT. Could be a nice 'get' at 28 or 34.

I get what you are saying, but both these teams have a 'starter-level' player at every position--we don't. We have 'zilch' at PF. Don't you like our chances of finding a starting PF at 4 better than at 13?

We aren't getting a PF in FA, at least not a starter, and if you think a team will 'trade' a good stating PF for Knight, I think you are 'dreaming' a bit.

If we had a starter at every position, I'd say grab BPA, but we don't, and I don't see Hield being 'head and shoulders' better than any of the options that will be available at 4 at the PF position.

I ask you, if we take Hield, who's our starter at PF next season?? Warren?? Len??

Word is Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine may have a fairly significant knee issue, so much so that one team sort of compared him to former Indiana Pacers All-Star Danny Granger, who came into the league with a degenerative knee condition and struggled every year to play 82 games. League sources said it’s still likely he will get drafted in the first round, but his stock looks to be a tough one to lock in with so many teams believing his knee will be a problem.

The more I watch multiple videos focusing on each players strengths and weaknesses, I find myself falling for Chriss more and more. I love his athleticism and rim attacking mentality. None of the other bigs projected in the top 15 have that. The thought of this kid being a future pick n roll option is exciting. In addition, he has a very nice shooting touch to go with it.

He has gone from unknown high school kid to putting himself on the map as a potential top 10 draft prospect in one year. Imagine if he continues to improve at the same rate over the course of the next few years. A lot of his weaknesses are very coach-able but his strengths of just having such god given athletic ability cant be matched by any of the other bigs in this years draft.

At the end of the day when I compare all the different attributes I come to the conclusion that more often then not, Chriss can do a lot of the things Bender can do, but Bender cant do a lot of the things Chriss can do.

For the 13th pick I think I am getting pretty settled that I would take my chances on Luwawu

I hear what you're saying, But I think you might be missing the point (no pun intended).

As my point is that I would believe that even the the brooklyn 2017 pick is pure gold, I think that Philly would much rather have the #3pick (dunn) and knight, So that they can fill out their stacked roster rather than just taking the nets pick alone from boston.

us boston gets more assets to send to chicago by including us, rather than just cutting us out.

Also, We can add chandler to bostons' plethora of assets to send chicago (should we choose to bottom out and let our rookies grow together, while landing our own high lotto pick in next years loaded draft too). Boston sending them chandler as well with their proposed offer pretty much trumps any other teams offer I believe, As it allows them to cover the potential loss of noah as well in free agency.

I know it's alot of moving parts, But I believe it accomodates all teams involved interests, wherein no team really gets the short end of the stick.

If Bender is there at 4, we should draft him. I expect him to take 2 years to develop into a starter, but our team isn't ready to compete anytime soon. We should trade Knight to make room for Booker to develop. We do not need to sign any free agents, except for maybe Teletovic. Our plan should be to develop a team that will compete in 2 to 3 years from now. Please lets rebuild with patience. I'd rather have a team that has sustained success, rather than a team that sneaks into the playoffs every once in a while.

As much as I would like to see him come over next year, I cant imagine he will. If he comes over next year he is still limited to the rookie salary for his draft slot. If he comes over in two years he can sign for a lot more because that restriction is removed.

That goes both ways my friend. Bender can push the ball and pass. Chris cannot initiate offense, but I do see some Amare style offense in him (Chriss) in the Pick N Roll and Pick and Pop, but he can't put it on the floor like Amare.

Both players could be special, but I just like Bender's game more because it is conducive to today's game more than Chriss.

I think Philly's motive in moving Okafor would be to grab a pick they could use on Dunn, so I don't see any scenario where we can end up with both Bender and Okafor.
