And you must think Oladipo has no upside

Posted this earlier...
http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2013/02/channing_frye_forced_to_the_sideline_isnt_ready_to.html

Sounds more like he wants to return. But thats a far cry from being cleared to play. The guy hasn't ran for 6 months. Shades of John Shumate..... (look him up)

This Oladipo/Shabazz debate is moot. Both will help this team, neither will save it. I really don't think there is a 'difference maker' in this draft.

We are likely to gain the most talent from free agency, and done correctly, with a shrewd trade or two, we just might put together a decent enough line up to make some noise and have something to build upon.

That's a good read on Channing's status. It doesn't sound like he has improved since last summer

He is a little down today -- Monday -- but it's only perceptible because he says so. Five days ago, during a checkup, doctors felt the need to prescribe beta blockers to help restrict his heart rate. Frye is careful not to call it a setback, but the development weighs on him. He is a strict believer in practicing naturopathic treatment, and the directive for traditional medicine ends the chance of him beating this obstacle on his terms.

He played his last game on April 21, 2012. It has now been a full year since he played his last game. The Suns could waive him and seek a salary exclusion from the NBA. My guess is his contract is partially insured so the Suns wouldn't eat all $12M that is owed. If the NBA grants the exclusion, which to me seems likely because "The determination is based on whether the injury or illness will prevent the player from playing for the remainder of his career, or if it is severe enough that continuing to play constitutes a medically unacceptable risk" according to Coon's CBA FAQ. The last thing the NBA/Suns need is a player dieing during the game when the player and team knew it could happen.

If the news is bad I would expect Channing to retire sometime soon. Hopefully he would help out the Suns and not drag it out. However, I would not be surprised to see the Suns taking some action soon so they can realize more cap space this summer.

So, who do we target with our 30th pick? I havent really done any research on any prospects around that range yet. Anyone that could fall?

I think Gianis Adetokunbo is a MUST if he is available at #30 ( I do not think so).

Mick Kabongo, Denis Schroeder and Dario Saric could be there too, and all of them have great upside.

It's always nice to get in a Bill Murray quote. I went to pick up a take out order the other night, and the girl asked me for my autograph on my credit card slip. So I said while signing, "Dear Sammy, get well soon....". She laughed, but I doubt she got it.

Side note, did you notice that the King has risen? :o And he's already grouped up with #2. Well he is persistent.

I am up in the air on this. I really feel we should try and move that pick to Cleveland for their two second rounders, or just keep it, and buy one of Cleveland's second rounders. I still don't think they will draft four players. They traded three for one last year.

NBADraft.net ‏@nbadraftnet

Word on the street is Marcus Smart is having second thoughts about pulling his name out of draft. Don't be shocked if he changes his mind.

Not sure how you draft Smart without him even declaring for the draft.

I think we most likely end up with Oladipo unless we move up via Lottery or trade, and get McLemore.

I'd like to see Gortat traded for another top 10 pick, either OKC or Portland, and get us Shabazz also.

Shore up those wings with some potential and youth.

Smart's inclusion in this draft helps us out considerably.

1. ORL - Smart
2. CHA - McLemore
3. CLE - Porter
4. PHX - Noel

or

1. ORL - Smart
2. CHA - Noel
3. CLE - Porter
4. PHX - McLemore

EDIT: didn't read earlier pages...

If Smart does declare we HAVE to take him. He is exactly what the team needs, good defense, good IQ, high upside.

On a side note, anyone have any thoughts on Nedovic if we can get him with our second rounder?... probably unlikely.

I agree with Dragic that he needs a second ball-handler/ playmaker who can attack the rim. Nedovic fits the bill, athletic slasher with plenty of upside.

We don't have our second rounder, we traded it for Morris2. We have picks 4(ours), 30(Miami's), 57(Denver's), at least the last time I checked Denver was at that spot, but the other two are correct in number.

Out of those three picks, only ours could move, assuming I have the right spot for Denver's, but wherever that pick is, it can't move from that spot.

What about Toronto's? What's the deal with the protection on that?
