We'd be doing exactly what Cleveland are doing if Booker wanted out when he's 25.
Reject anything you don't like and keep / wait.

So you would delay the rebuild by just one year, foregoing almost a clear path to the finals, because there's a chance that Lebron leaves? that's not even entirely possible...the Cavs are going to have a hard time trading their players, and even if they did Lebron said he wouldn't waive his trade clause...so at worse Cavs become a 4-5 seed and far from a lottery pick.
If they wanted to trade Lebron, they could. It takes a GM with some brass f'n balls, but it could happen.
All they would need to do is start trading away assets. If they trade Irving for rebuilding pieces, trade Love for rebuilding pieces, trade TT and expirings for younger talent and picks, i'd bet my ass that Lebron would jump off that sinking ship ASAFP! He would totally waive his no trade clause. Now they would at least get some kind of asset (No matter how small) from a title contending team (Only places Lebron would care to go). Sure, they burn their bridge with him, but to me he has been lowkey slowburning the other side for a while now with his demands and 1 year contract bs.
But its all moot, as Koby and Gilbert dont have the balls and will continue S'ing Lebrons D.

No, he'd wait it out and leave, not letting Cleveland get anything, write a Player's Tribune article about his love for "The Land" and how big bad Gilbert and his staff disrespected the people of Cleveland by dismantling a championship team.
SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

If that package isn't enough then I'm out too. Not worth it at that price with the uncertainty attached.

Kerrsed wrote:They can say all they want about them not needing to trade Irving, but the reality is that they do.
Kobe demanded a trade and trashed the FO & players in the 2007 offseason, but they made one of the more lopsided trades in history and he ended up with a running mate that helped get to three consecutive finals. Irving is not even as important to the organization as Kobe was.
the opposite of what you are outright declaring could happen- Kyrie might come in with a chip on his shoulder: with perhaps something to prove to Lebron, starting with trying harder on defense. If he kicks ass, that would upgrade Kyrie's trade value to the benefit of both himself and his current employer.
besides, hindsight has constantly shown that beef between players is greatly exaggerated by the media. Kyrie said he doesn't want to cater to Lebron's agenda? big deal, it's not like he tag-teamed Lebron's mom with Delonte West. at the end of the day, players want to get their minutes and win- which Kyrie has the best chance to do right now in Cleveland.

I dont know about that. The Cleveland FO would look bad to the fans no matter what, so him leaving would be in the clear image wise. I just dont see Lebron sticking around and wasting a whole year when he is at the end of his prime just so he could have the same outcome that he would get if the FO started dismantling the squad.
He could still ask for a trade to a contender and write the same article stating the same exact thing about Gilbert disrespecting him and dissolving a championship team.

huh, that's a lot of drastic moves just to piss of Lebron enough to drive him out a season early...which team with rebuilding pieces would tender a deal for Love/TT that's up to Gilbert's standards?
lol I disagree, in no way Lebron can be seen as a bad guy here. Three consecutive finals, and he came back to Cleveland and delivered the ultimate prize. This is not him leaving a 60+ win team stranded without a ring like in 2010. that aside, good point about the CBA being adjusted so 1-year contracts cannot have a no-trade clause (btw, Lebron's on 3 year deal with a PO)
a rebuild can be started literally any year. what the Cavs are doing is something 99.9% rebuilding teams don't even get close to.

Exactly. Trade Bender for a two year rental? That makes zero sense for the rebuild. I feel the same about Chriss/Warren. This trade is not happening.

PHX gets: Irving
POR gets: Love
MIL gets: TT
Cleveland gets Bledsoe/Chriss/MIA 1st (From PHX), Harkless/Davis/Collins/1st (From POR), Monroe/Parker/Brogdon (From MIL).
They then flip Bledsoe to another team for more assets (Say to Denver for Harris/Faried). Use Monroe/Davis as $25M in Expirings (to trade for assets). I think at this point Lebron would bail, so trade him to team he wants to go to for a nice young player and a pick (Say Lakers for Lopez/Clarkson/Nance/future 1st). Once again, use Lopez's $18M expiring for more assets or just let expire.
I'd say thats a nice haul of up-and-coming young talent (along with a few additional draft picks)
Then going into next season you have:
Brogdon/Clarkson
Harris/Shumpert/Smith
Harkless/Korver
Parker/Faried/NanceJr
Chriss/Collins
along with CLE 1st/MIA 1st/POR 1st/LAL 1st (2020?)
IDK, just an idea off the top of my head for a hypothetical situation that will never happen, lol.

I have a feeling Gilbert is done catering to Lebron and doesn't care what he thinks anymore. Of course with Lebron you're a contender so he's never going to admit that but all the crap adds up. The one year deals giving the team no power, overpaying for his buddies and overall drama with firing coaches and GM's. The team will be trash without him but they got their title and can breathe again after next year.

I just hope it doesn't happen. I'm not ready to sell on any of our prospects if Kyrie isn't willing to sign long term.

99/100 people wouldn't commit long term. It's a $50MM difference.

I also don't get the hate for him not wanting to commit long term to a new team. That's just bad business on his part, why corner yourself if you land on a team that doesn't fit you?
If he likes it here, he'd stay, it's pretty simple really.

Yep. That's the risk we take. That's why JJ is not in the trade. Can't have your cake and eat it too. We get Kyrie for $.75 on the dollar because of the risk he might leave in 2 years.

for Milwaukee- yikes! why the hell would they ruin a solid core going forward including sending out the guy that just won rookie of the year and Jabari Parker (very solid PF even with an injury history) for TT and Shumpert? If that's not bad enough, Monroe is expiring and TT has 3 more years!

Even though it's a lowball offer it's not nothing. He's offering either top-10 pick from from the 16' draft, a solid PG and first rounder. McD must be getting positive intel from Jones.

Eh...the rookie of the year thing is kinda weird for last season. The kid wasnt so much great, just the rest of the rookie class had better players stuck behind more established players. Very very odd for a Rookie of the year to be 24 years old (3 months younger than Irving, lol) 2nd round pick with kinda a bleh stat line. And im sorry, but i dont think he really should have won that award. Who was the better rookie, a PG that put up 10/4/3 (14.9PER) in 26MPG or a C that was BEASTING until injury mid season with 20/8/2.5blks (24.15PER) in 25 minutes. That Rookie of the year award should have gone to Embiid.
As for TT, i think Milwaukee needs that presence in the post (REBOUNDING). Thats actually something TT is very good at even if he is undersized. I would like to see a Delladovea/Middleton/FREAK/Thon/TT lineup. Parker, eh, idk, that ACL injury was baaaaad. He's not supposed to be back until late february according to Coach Kidd. Even then will he be 100%? Will he ever be 100% again? Who knows, but thats a bad question to have to answer when your on an expiring contract like he is.

First Wolfson says "the Suns are the team to watch" because our offer is pretty good even without Booker or Jackson. Now Gambo thinks that everyone else has a better offer

Welcome to the McD Grey Zone!
I don't think MCD did anything special during the draft.
Boston traded down to three because no matter what Tatum or Jackson would be there. And They Valued Tatum higher...
If the Lakers pulled any kind of audible and drafter Jackson or tatum at two they would still have one to pick at three.
I think Boston played it smart and did what they wanted to do. Fultz was going one so no matter what Jackson or Tatum was going to be available at three.
I don't think MCD had anything to do with it tbh.
