Len was decent in a terrible draft class and Bender was the sort of gamble you have to take at times. But doubling down on a gamble with Chriss while giving up Bogdan was mind-boggling and Jackson just had so many red flags.

I can eat crow on the draft picks of Bender and even Chriss, but obviously I don't have quite all the info on players and knew we had Booker and needed PFs.

But I really wanted Isaac (despite having the aforementioned PFs) simply because he seemed to have an upside that was high and maybe could play 3 (which he is doing) and eventually maybe we rotate three of them, or cover if one of the earlier one busts.

But of course last year was tough. Hopefully Ayton comes back on fire....loved his D in game 1 and we know he is efficient on offense and can grab rebounds...great at catching passes and holding onto them in traffic with hands all over the place...just great hands.

Sucks that Baynes is out. Moreso than the others. I still think we could start Tyler and Booker with Jevon/Elie backing up and playing some with Bridges.

But depth after that is weak.

I really liked the mention of Big Sauce. Just a rebounder and big body I think would help. Damn that Ayton suspension. I don't know that it cost us many games as long as Baynes is around (maybe 1) but when Baynes is out it really hurts.

It definitely cost us games while Baynes was here too. I can't imagine we would have lost all of the Nuggets, Jazz, Lakers, and Celtics games if we had Ayton. There were times in the Denver/Jazz games where we just couldn't score. Ayton really would have helped. The Lakers and Celtics both destroyed us on the glass/inside.

Pau Gasol waived, though I don't know if he'd help any.

He is been waived because he can not play. Injuries suck.

The guy was leading euroleague teams (tougher than NCAA) to championships over grown experienced professionals when he ws 17 or 18. It was pretty obvious there was something really special...generational type guy.

Edit: Wow, 22/5/5 in 1 qtr? Hadn't even seen that.

sums it up best. Going into the draft you could just tell he was special. not a knock on Ayton but I dont think he has the ceiling Luka has. Aytons best case scenario is Towns who still a great player but I wouldnt say a generational game changer

It is probably near impossible he will be a better shooter (especially from 3) than Towns. Towns might be the best shooting C ever. And having Towns in fantasy last year, he often had ton of high assist, high block and very high rebound games, so even that might be tough.

He could be a better defender overall though and that is more important, even if he just gets a semi-respectable 3 ball. I want him to screen well...I think he is already a decent passer, and is a pretty solid rebound due to size and hands (could still be better though).

I am still most curious about his defense and if it continues to look like it did in the first game. Also I REALLY hope he is taking notes from Baynes and what he does. He is already better at rebounding and scoring inside but if he can add the other stuff (direct the defense, hard screens to help shooters, and really be good with assists) that will be huge. I don't need him be Towns or anyone else...I need him to be the best possible potential Ayton he can be, and that level can be very very high. Does he have that type of motivation? It never seemed like it watching him and sometimes in interviews but you always hear his work ethic is great so it will be interesting to how he comes out. I don't care if he adds muscle unless he uses it or dunks hard in practice. I want to hear he blocks shots or looks great on D in practice.

I get why Ayton was the pick as it was the easy pick. Big tall guy with athleticism. Plus the Suns never having a true Center. But damn, Luka should have been the dam pick. Ryan has Lukas coach - it seems like a no brainer. But Ryan didn’t have the g-nads.

I am going to throw this out there . It’s a stretch but...

What if the Twolves and Warriors agreed to say Russell For Culver and Teague

Would anybody be open to trading Tyler for Teague. Granted without Jerome and Rubio hurt - it’s showing lack of PG. but would Teague be an upgrade over TylerZ. Both are expiring

Watching Luka making NBA basketball look so effortless is crazy. He makes me believe I could average 20ppg in the NBA, lol.

Maybe, if it could go down now, and if Teague is expiring....can't remember if he is. I think TWolves would have to throw in a pick in that trade too.

Right. Teague is expiring making basically within a few hundred grand of Tyler

I just figure the Warriors would buy out Teague - so Tyler too.

These injuries are coming at the worst possible time, we've got a bunch of games coming up against direct playoff competition. With the Spurs and the Blazers falling out of the playoffs race the West now has 4 spots up for grabs (GSW and OKC being the other two). This is the most open the Western Conference has been in at least a decade - and our best team in years as well (at full strength).

Ayton really screwed us over with his dumbass actions.

Doncic being an absolute beast and putting up LeBron numbers. Meanwhile Ayton sitting at home playing NBA2K20.

That pretty much sums up his maturity. Doncic was a grown adult when he was 16 years old.

I'd love to hear if Igor was also in favor of drafting Ayton or if he wanted Luka.
