PJ haters are rejoicing. I'm pretty bummed because we will miss his hustle and rebounding. Hope some of it has rubbed off on the other players. My guess is it is six weeks until he can resume any basketball related activities. Then he has to get in shape. Definitely not gonna start and unlikely to be ready for the season opener.

Bledsoe
Booker
Warren
Dudley
Len

Barbosa / Ulis
Knight / Goodwin / Jenkins
Bender
Chriss
Chandler / Williams

We might be a bit thin at the SF position now.

Nah. We have TJ, Dudley, and even Booker, who could start in that position, plus Chriss and Bender. We miss PJ's rebounding, but that is about it. The place we are thin is at pf unless the rookies are really ready to contribute. We have Dudley and the rookies.

Wouldn't be surprised if Watson opens the season with:

Bledsoe
Knight
Booker
Dudley
Len

Of course, Warren would play the bulk of the SF minutes with Booker sliding to SG in a 3 guardish rotation with Bled and Knight. Barbs, Ulis and Archie with spot mins.

So now PJ has a legit excuse to being overweight this season, great.

It's bad that PJ got injured but I'd love to see Warren in the starting 5.

This team is going to be so bad defensively.

You only realise that when you think of a team without PJ. Then you realise we probably would have been so bad even if he was playing.

PJ is so valuable to this team in the sense that basically everyone on the roster depends on him being healthy.

Playing TJ solid minutes depends on PJ banging. Playing our rooks depends on having a good wing defender. Starting Book depends on PJ starting.

We may be able to get by if either Book or Knight have improved defensively. Dudley miiight be able to fill the void but I doubt it.

Some of you all don't understand how valuable it would be to have PJ barking orders at training camp.

I want to see TJ play as badly as anyone but:

1. No guarantees TJ starts. We could roll out a Chandler/Len/Dudley 5/4/3 or even a Len/Dudley/Booker as mentioned above.
2. TJ should ease into a role coming off his injury.
3. TJ should have to earn the role.
4. TJ would benefit from playing against PJ in camp.
5. As mentioned above, having PJ in practice at camp would be nice.
6. There is a chance TJ will play great in preseason only to get bumped back to the bench on opening night if PJ makes a 6 week turn around.

This team won't win anything anyway. I prefer it to be terrible on D and nice on O than just bad at both. Having Tj starting instead of PJ won't make team better but atleast it should be more joy to watch.

He doesn't do much communicating in the game as far as I can tell. Is he a real vocal leader in practice because I thought I'd heard otherwise? I know I've heard them say that everyone's afraid of him but I can't remember hearing much about him as a leader but maybe I've just missed it. I know when Frye was here I was surprised to learn that his coaches and teammates all said that he was the clear team leader in practice and games. Now, I just figured that role had passed to Chandler but I don't know for sure.

I have mixed feelings about PJ. I don't like the fact he doesn't always set the best example for the younger players (DUI, missing team bus etc) but hopefully that's all behind him. Those concerns aside, IMO, he might be both the most overrated and underrated player we have. He's almost definitely the worst starter in the league (by quite a margin IMO) which often leads to people calling him useless. But it's not his fault he's starting and playing major minutes, that's on us. The guy is a role player and he's a damned good one when he isn't playing 35 minutes every night. We just use him wrong.

Didn't Suns just bring in Dudley and Barbosa to be vocal leaders and mentors for young guys?

Tucker is a very good role player.
He is perfect on a limited role, playing not more than 20 mpg with a ton of hustle, defense and rebounding.

I think that we can have a perfect pair of players at SF with Tucker coming of the bench to provide energy and defense...but Warren is the better player and he needs to start IMO.

Tucker, 31, played through ailments and appeared in all 82 games last season with 80 starts but was bothered by the back issue for about a month.

His spot likely will be filled by third-year small forward T.J. Warren, who was cleared to begin five-on-five scrimmage play Thursday after rehabilitating a foot fracture since February surgery. The Suns also could slide second-year shooting guard Devin Booker or rookie power forward Dragan Bender to the small forward spot.
