I don't blame our front office for agreeing to meetings with Blake and Millsap, it's part of building relationships with agents. But until I hear otherwise, I'm not going to believe we are or were serious about either guy. And I have no problem with someone like Blake testing the waters with other franchises if he feels his own club isn't giving him what he wants. Now that they've offered up the 5 year deal, it makes no sense for him to look elsewhere. Hopefully we'll have a similar conclusion to the "pursuit" of Millsap.

Yeah even if it's just a 1 year rental, that's a hell of a deal.

I would've done Knight and Warren for George even if there was no guarantee he would resign here.

It's amazing how often Knight gets thrown into these deals like he is a positive asset. I don't even think a team would take him on for a 2nd round pick even if we include Warren, and I love Warren. Much less a superstar.

I love Millsap, but looking at his numbers today or yesterday, they are not quite as good as I thought they were...he declined quite a bit, which is likely why Atlanta is just letting him walk. I would just avoid him..it doesn't really make sense for him either..he could probably really help a team in the hunt, but with us he will just block our youngsters...he would be a good role model though. If we another Dudley and Chandler, they could do it. But again, he plays PF which is Chriss and Bender's best positions to play at.

I honestly think part of it is to just screw over Boston and Cleveland. If you are in the east, with those teams having so many assets and players already, and they are haggling with you, I'd probably say screw these guys, they are in my conference....send him to the other conference...heck, lets give OKC a replacement for Durant (ok, they probably didn't think about that last part, but I would have since I think he screwed them)....I think the return is pretty good for a guy that was going to leave.

Oh yeah I don't mean it was a bad move by the Pacers. I think it was a positive thing to move on now before free agency starts while getting 2 young players. I really don't think either Boston or Cleveland's offers were significantly better. Sure they COULD have been much better, but I think the actual difference was pretty marginal.

It's not a big deal that Blake didn't choose us. We haven't traded any assets. Big NO to Millsap though.

I agree. Full steam ahead for the rebuild if we can't get BG. Millsap is a great player, but I'd only want him on my fantasy team.

But it is a big deal. Just another big name FA that chose not to come to Phoenix. Its becoming an epidemic. Who is the last big name FA that we landed? Exactly. We used to be a hotbed for star FA's, and now we cant even get guys to sign with us that have us up on their Mt. Rushmore of basketball cities.

Its a bad look.

Isn't Nash the last big time FA we signed? Kind of depressing realizing that. It should change with wins....but you kind of need those big signings to get those wins...kind of a crappy chicken-and-egg situation when you've been losing for so long :(

I'm probably a little more jaded than most here. After witnessing the Shannon Brown/Michael Beasley era nothing can hurt me.

Age aint nothing but a number. Condition is what counts...IQ extends a career aswell. Paul Millsap can be a leader our youth need. Ive heard his game prep is ridiculous. We have leaders..but theyre on the bench...how about a leader in the game in those down to the wire moments. Id do a 3-4 top loaded. Plus, we all know A. Nelson's crew is like the fountain of youth.

But you can say that about tons of teams and several that don't even get meetings like the suns do. Were not a premier location but Phoenix is definitely in that second teir.

It's going to come down to the homegrown tallent getting good. If a couple of these guys hit over the next couple years and they have cap space they will land some dudes. 2019 is a very solid plan to me. Hopefully booker and at least one of the other guys will be at the "star" level and ready to recruit help.

I think it's more of a case of people not wanting to give up young players in a sign and trade, and spending big money long term (4 years) for a guy who doesn't fit age wise... so that we can enjoy chasing the 9th seed again.

People here talk about how we haven't made the playoffs in 7 years - but fail to mention that 4 of those years we were the 9th seed. There is a lot of amnesia on this board about how frustrating it was to lose out on the playoffs and end up at the end of he lottery (even if we did luck out with landing Booker).

Last year was the first year we REALLY committed to a rebuild. Now is not the time to make desperation moves. Bring on board a crafty vet on a short term deal (2 years), try to win games by mentoring our young players, and aim to go all out when our big contracts expire (2019). We'll know by then what we have in our young guys (which ones we want to build around), and what holes we need to address in free agency. We can actually start building a team, rather than desperately trying to sign whoever is willing to come to the Suns as long as we pay them the moon and the stars.
