CP3 might be overpaid but he is still a star player and certainly better than any offer the Mavs send. Dallas doesn't have their 2023 draft pick either. I don't think KD would be thrilled to be playing with Dinwiddie, Wood, and whoever else. I mean... Luka is struggling with those guys as teammates, why would KD be any different? Why would KD be happy about that. KD would certainly demand a trade immediately after. He already casually threw his current teammates under the bus earlier in the season.

Brooklyn took our eye off the trade market this summer. and had us in a pause pattern as other deals were made.
Now with only days away from the trade deadline, they might do it again.
I am all for entertaining all options as they pop up but do not let them paralyze you.

yeah, getting tunnel vision looking at Brooklyn when nothing is likely going to happen with them, being a contender who hasn't had any rumors they want to deal anyone...
while meanwhile missing out on other deals we could make, would be worst case scenario.
Still, like dremill, Frank and maybe some others, I trade Crowder and stand pat..keep picks...maybe make minor moves like dremill suggested.
I still think west is wide open. Lots of injuries, we play well against MEM and DEN even when not completely healthy, are fire when we are completely healthy which was only the first 7 games...and Paul wasn't even himself.
The Clippers as I've always said may be the scariest when healthy, but for them health is hardly a guarantee...Pelicans can't rely on Zion. Denver has had their own injuries with Murray and Porter and that could happen...but for some reason we always play them tough...and took them to OT in Denver after leading the whole way with many players missing, as well as beating Memphis multiple times.
Dallas is the weird sudden team we struggle with. I might be most worried about them and the Clips. I have no idea about the Kings. A 3/6 matchup with the Kings might be ideal while LAC and DAL meet once again, and then we maybe meet Memphis in the second round,or Denver. But we could get all the way to 3 or 4 seed too. Maybe if us and Sac can meet in 4/5, and then we get Denver in round 2.
West is wide open and I think many here underrate us. I think the only team clearly better when we are healthy is Boston, and probably Milwaukee if Middleton was healthy. Is he? Philly not sure. But only one of those teams make it from the east.
Who are we REALLY scared of in the west if healthy. I know CP3 has gotten injured in the playoffs, but nothing is certain.
My biggest worry is Booker aggravating his groin again and being out a month, which is a primary reason a 23 pick is off limits to me,unless lotto protected.

Could they be holding him out because of an impending trade?

I just think Dallas could put together a better offer for what they would need (a PG) and maybe a stretch big (Wood) or backup big (McGee or something). Unless we would give up Bridges and they said they didn't want Ayton. And Claxton is playing well on reasonable deal. They have shooters...so do they prefer Cam and filler or something like Dinwiddie and Wood? If we throw in Bridges or they do suddenly want Ayton for some reason, maybe, but that doesn't solve their PG issue.
BW seems to feel that our assets are always trash and everytime a player becomes available we never have anything to offer.
I don't know where he is drawing this conclusion because we have had the best two seasons in team history.
Our best assets are not trash but the main person is Bridges. Ayton maybe but I think many might feel he is overpaid in relation to someone like Claxton. And they already said they don't want Ayton.
But if you are willing to trade Bridges that is better than Dinwiddie and Wood. I am not willing to do that. I would maybe do Cam and a pick...but probably not even Cam and multiple picks. Kyrie is better than OG when engaged and fills a far future bigger hole. But we can't sign in offseason so would have to give something up.
Bridges and a pick might do it, or Cam and 2 picks? But lesser stars have gotten more. We could trump what most are willing to offer since no one will offer much if he only wants a few teams. Is Dallas one of them? If they are, I can see the Nets liiking a replacement PG who is not in late 30s, and a nice stretch 5 given they have Simmons, so Wood would fit well with him.
But if you are talking Bridges, you are right. Or want to trade Ayton.
Unless you think a bunch of expiring contracts, Crowder, etc, is better than Dinwiddie and Wood.

KD said he was happy with the guys he was playing with pre Kyrie. I don't think he meant to sound like he was throwing them under the bus..but it came out wrong.
Anyway, it's not up to him and he is not a guy that will sit out. But my reasoning I don't think they trade him unless they got a crazy good offer is the same as it was in the offseason. They have him under contract. I don't think he even wants out after the coaching change..he might be getting sick of Kyrie too.
Anyway, it's no use for me getting into repeating the same reasons I didn't think they would trade him in the offseason in which I was right, and since then him and others said he was having a lot of fun and loved his teammates (pre Kyrie coming back), they fired Nash, which was his ultimatum, and he came out and said he has nothing to prove and already won a championship.

It was Bobby Marks commenting that trading Kyrie for Russ would raise the Nets lux tax bill like $50 mil. I guess he might have had his numbers wrong.TeamTragic wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:?t=2Cbtg_p-ypZqyUyBEacMIQ&s=19
