I am praying they are sold to a person who wants to keep them in Phoenix

I don't think the league would allow an owner to move the franchise from Phoenix. Don't all the other owners have to agree on a sale before it's approved by the league? Regardless, even if Sarver wanted to spite the fans, I don't think he'd try selling it to someone that wanted to move the team or purposely not sell to someone that loves the city and state.

I remember a while back there was talk of a group of former Suns players that expressed the desire of purchasing/owning the team. Wouldn't that be amazing? At this point, I'll take just about anyone not named Sarver.

If they allowed the Sonics to move, they would allow the Suns to move. Sarver has already been angling for a new arena. It sets up the scenario.

Be careful what you wish for.

The way I see it sarver could also try to move the team if he doesn't get an arena. He's an L.A. guy who's not loyal to Phoenix. The league needs to approve any sale and they prefer it be to local buyers if possible so as long as the right group has interest and money selling is safer than him keeping the team.

I have to think McD has already approached these teams and was prob shot down. He likely doesn't want to part with Chandler and that's holding up this type of deal :(

Sarver has been asking the Milwaukee owner to get him a date with his daughter. That's the sticking point right now.

fwiw Suns tied with Cleveland with a 3-4 record. Just sayin'.

I can see them getting desperate and dealing that Net's pick for Bledsoe.

This. Pleading for Sarver to sell is dumb considering the next owner could move us.

Or at the very least, Bledsoe for Shumpert, Frye amd the right to swap our pick for their best pick (probably Nets). If the pick doesn't convey we get a future pick from them (light to no protection).

This gives us more assurance that we get a top 5 pick in the draft if our new winning culture under Triano is legit.

Cavs will still get a great/solid pick this year from us while also getting a star caliber player.

Edit: I might even add Chriss for Calderon/Cavs pick if they want more youth and get rid of the log jam at PG. have to wait till December 14th for that though.

That would be the icing on the cake. Sarver destroys the team and then sends the Suns to Seattle.

I know where he lives though...

The Phoenix Suns could be the next team to be sold

There are already rumblings around the league that Robert Sarver, who bought the team from Jerry Colangelo for $401 million in 2004, is looking to cash out. While the NBA would never publicly admit it, the league would likely be quite happy if Sarver chose to move on, given the complete collapse of the franchise under his watch.

Despite never winning a championship, the Suns were long one of the league’s top franchises, making the playoffs in 24 of their first 36 seasons. Since Sarver took over, the Suns have missed the playoffs eight times in 13 seasons — a number that’s almost certain to grow this year to nine whiffs in 14 seasons, given Phoenix has already fired its coach, Earl Watson, and appears destined for yet another high draft pick.

Given the recent sales of the Rockets and Nets, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Sarver get somewhere close to $2 billion for the team — five times what he initially paid, enough return on investment to make anyone think long and hard about moving on.

I don't think the league would let the Suns move. I know he wants a new arena but this one isn't that old and the franchise hasn't been put in the NBA brasses eyes as needing a new arena soon (like the Bucks, Sonics, and Kings were). I would like to think that Sarver will also go out of his way to tell any prospective buyer that they must leave the team in Phoenix in order to have the franchise sold to them.

I wonder if that number would be increased if we're playing with other teams of this era.

Man, I don't think I'd like the Seattle Suns. With their arena and hungry buyers waiting, that's a bit scary.

Actually I guess they'd change the name to the Sonics though if that happened.

Yeah, Clay Bennett said he wasn't going to move the Sonics though.

See that big 'goose egg' under GS for Len? Compare them when they both have close to equal starts, like last year...

...or maybe more than 6 games. Notice how Len has better Offensive Numbers in your example? Do we believe that to be true, as well.

And as you've just shown, Len is NOT a "GREAT" backup C...he actually sucks at it. He's much better when he starts. Go through his career games, as I have, and you'll see this to be true, as opposed to just basing it off 6 games from the bench.

Wow, that ORtg comparison. Quite a difference.

I would be fine giving them the Heat pick - no swapping picks. I want two lottery. But the Heat pick would be of value.

Yes, I too thought of Caldern but like you said, have to wait until Dec 14. I am not sure I want to give up on Chriss yet - but Bender as played better this year.

Not to say I won't give up Chriss but not the Cavs if its Shumpe/Frye for Bledsoe - would need a young player. I would do Okafor

I think it was hard to find a new owner with Sarver when the price was $400K. A bunch of players don't have a combined $2 billion. I don't know how many people in the Phx area even have that kind of money. Obviously you could finance most of the purchase but it's still going to take someone extremely rich. You don't want another Microsoft guy coming along to buy it.

Return to Phoenix Suns
