can't delete ;(
Time to make use of this post.
Don't like THJ at all so that instantly puts me off Knicks trade.
Do like Sarver being mad. Goran's agents may have screwed this one up for him.
Don't like trading for the sake of trading. Calling the bluff sounds so perfectly like the Suns that I kinda want to see it happen.

Well, technically, 3 right? Isn't it Mia, LAL, NYK? But regardless, yeah, that was not a smart move by Dragic and/or his agent. And I have no idea why he wouldn't want to go to Boston--talk about a franchise with a storied history!!
And really, McD, Babby, Sarver, and who ever else is in the decision making process, their hands were just effectively tied by this stunt. I get that the FO was not as forthright as they could've been, and, I guess, spoke out of both sides of their mouths, as it were, but they also have their careers to worry about as well. Does that make it right? No, of course not, but I get it, for the most part.
But now, Dragic has really hamstrung McD's negotiation ability--again, not smart. Yeah, tick off the guy that's going to decide your future for the next several months--good job! But if he wanted to stick it to McD, etc., he would've been wise to wait until AFTER he's been traded. He can decide where he goes for the next 4-5 years in the Summer, and possibly work with McD to find his best spot for the next few months. But now? Well, McD will not trade Dragic for pennies on the dollar--it ain't gonna happen, so yeah, I expect Dragic to stay in Phx the rest of the season. I'm sure that will bode well for him, right? Yeah, not so much.
Dragic has really hurt the chances of this team to make the Playoffs this year, because Dragic's heart won't be in it. Way to endear yourself to the fans that have literally sung your praises for the past few years. Hope he likes 'boos', because he's gonna hear a bunch of it if he stays, which again, I believe will be the outcome. Again, McD don't make bad trades--he'll hold on to him and we'll lose him for nothing in the Summer, after which we will have picked 13th or 14th, again.

I'm sure it also includes a big TPE and a couple 2nd round picks.

Dragic actually literally can't afford to pout if he stays. It's a contract year. If he wants anything close to the $ being talked about when he hits the market, he has to play well in the next few months. If he sulks and his numbers go down, or he gets a reputation as a team cancer, he'll be lucky to get Kyle Lowry money. I think you call their bluff. You trade IT, give Goran the ball in his hands, and then in the offseason offer him a 5 year deal and dare him to turn it down. We've seen players get disgruntled and demand a move before. Kobe did it. Heck, Wayne Rooney (that's soccer, if you were wondering) actually handed in a transfer request and neither of them ended up leaving and now are total company men. I say play hard ball with Dragic. And the day after the deadline, McD needs to come out and publicly tell fans to embrace him because he's the face of our franchise.

Frank Lee wrote:Desert_Devil wrote:McD stated several months ago that the Suns were not going to make trades anymore where they shipped the best player out. If that's the case, I suspect Dragic isn't going anywhere today. He'll try to deal Thomas and maybe Green/Plumlee and wait until the offseason to do anything with Dragic. He's not going to be bullied into making a bad deal and that's all he's going to get if he trades Dragic today.
F what McDuh said a couple months ago. He better 'un-stubborn' his knowitall ass and soon. I'm beginning think this guy and his stat-book-look at players is the problem. They are all pawns in his mind. He never played the game, he doesn't relate. I am going to assume (really you say?) the players view him in a nerdish baldly geek way. Babby has some cred... but McDuh ? What really has he done to garner respect from the locker room? He's a flesh peddler.
Well let's see what he did for the players: he grabbed Green and Plumlee off the deep bench, and gave them a system (or coach) that allowed them the best possible way to display their talent. Moved Gortat so Plumlee and Len had room to step up. Never bad mouthed Bledsoe throughout the holdout, and signed him to a decent contract. Moved up a spot to draft Goodwin, scouted and drafted all the youth. Grabbed Wright off that sinking ship in Boston. Made sure the MoBros got a good deal, where they could stay together. And signed Tucker even after he made one of the worst mistakes of his life.
So from the players side, what? IT was sold on what exactly? He couldn't have started on many teams, even if he went to Boston. Goran? I still don't know what he is bitching about. He seems to get plenty of touches, and it isn't McD fault that the same ISO guys we had last season have gone Full ISO this season. (You never go full ISO!)
Flesh peddler seems a bit extreme.

Re: Official Trade Thread: How to Trade Your Dragon
I've got it, and I love this team after the trade.
Suns get
Sullinger
Calderon
Afflalo
Nuggets get
Dragic
Dragic
Thornton expiring
A 1st from Celtics (unsure which, but one of theirs!)
Celtics get
Lawson
Plumlee
Knicks get
IThomas
Suns finish the season with a much stronger veteran presence and a more classic starting 5. Of course you're then met with a Markieff vs Sully as a starter argument, but anyway...Kieff/Mook off the bench would torch other second units and both stretch the floor more for Wright inside.
Len
Sullinger
Tucker
Afflalo
Bledsoe
---
Wright
Markieff
Mook
Green
Calderon
Goodwin
Bullock
Warren
Ennis
If we were to get Afflalo then you'd likely send Green out - maybe to PHI for one of their picks? they could use his shooting and he's expiring anyway. You'd hope the Suns would send him to a contender like the Bulls or Clippers though.
Flame away!

TPEs are the last thing this team would be interested in. Remember we're building for a championship, not the playoffs.

Re: Official Trade Thread: How to Trade Your Dragon
This is obvious Goran's agent is being a super douche.
Do I think Goran hates IT? yes. But we all hate IT and we would have traded him and Green and whoever else to get the ballhogs off the team to let Goran have some normalcy.
Bled Goran is a good combo have Ennis as backup PG.
I'm just saying this is his agent poisoning his mind with all this nonsense posturing for more money from the Suns or he does want to go to a big market team and Dragic and his agent really did screw us over, which is smart on their part kill our leverage completely and basically make the front office look terrible (objective complete) further damaging prospective free agents desires to play in phx.
It's kinda like breaking up with a girl that you feel has been cheating on you. Instead of leaving quietly you're going to tell the whole world and try to burn her house down. That's what Dragic is doing

I think Dragic and Calderon make similar money so there wouldn't be much of an exception would there?
I thought about Calderon and his passing ability and shooting is why I'd actually consider it, howvever, we still need to develop our young guys. So who knows.

Smart money is on this strategy we play hardball and say shut up no one buys you're a hardass bc you're not Goran we'll pay you you get to handle the ball more let's get real get rid of IT and get this show on the road.
goran is negotiating for more money and he did just that pushing his price tag up very high

Re: Official Trade Thread: How to Trade Your Dragon
Dragics and Tucker to the Pacers for David West and filler.... Isiah Thomas Plumlee and the Indy filler or Wright to Detroit for Monroe and filler... Starters.... Bled/ Archie/ TJ/ West/ Monroe Vet leadership .... Bench Tyler/ Green or Bullock if he is traded/ Marcus/ Kief/ Len... The Bros run the second unit, they play well together and Kief cant complain about losing his starting job to a vet like West, he needs to embrace he and his bro making the second unit the best in the league... Len continues to develope since we probably lose Monroe in the offseason. That team still has a chance of making the playoffs.

Only a year longer than Calderon's and he's at least someone they can say is a capable scorer/starter when trying to attract FAs...A lot younger too as well. Plus he'd be starting so he'd be happy...

How about Dragic for McRoberts and change? He'd fit in great when he returns next year (unless his injury is a serious red flag)
