My first impression after seeing these two vids is that he is really similar to Markieff Morris. A face-up PF who is a little bit smaller, a bellow average defender with a ton of foul's problems.

He has the same inconsistent motor...IDK, I prefer other options over him with that Washington pick.

I'm fine with taking him late lotto (doubt he slips that far) or trading down out of the Top 5, but definitely don't want to reach for him. I don't see what all the fuss is about tbh

Chriss is a no-brainer pick if he is on the board at Washingtons pick.
Would move up a few spots to secure him.

He has everything you want in a modern 4. Defense without fouling and rebounding will improve.

Id trade Knight, Goodwin, 28, 33 for a pick to get Chriss maybe to Sacramento.

Pick Hield at 3, Chriss at 8 and Labissiere at 12.

Sabonis would be a nightmarish pick. 6'10 center with little athleticism. If he was an option at 28 id consider him.

He is a pf and a rebounding machine. He has quick feet and a highly developed game. Athleticism is more than a vertical jump, which Devin Booker has clearly proven.

Sabonis doesn't have a very high ceiling but he looks like a guy who will have a 12-year career playing 25 mpg and helping his team win games every minute he's on the court, doing stuff that doesn't always show up in the boxscore like Nick Collison does for the OKC.

Chriss is a tweener IMO
He shoots and rebounds like a SF but maybe he had a massive growth spurt and now he's learning to be a 'bigman' on the fly.

Huge project.

cosmofizzo wrote:I get that Chriss has athleticism and shooting, which are important, but why were his rebounding numbers so low? Why did he lead the NCAA in fouls? Six seems a little high to me. The likes of Sabonis and Ellenson would eat him up inside. Brice Johnson is just as athletic, but instead of hitting three balls, Brice hits the glass. IDK.

Not sure about the rebounding, but the foul problem is a big one. If Len keeps rebounding like he does, rebounding wouldn't be as big of a problem, and I'm sure he can improve, but playing with Len and getting into foul trouble is a problem. With Ellenson you get the rebounding but lose the athleticism and shot blocking.

I don't know if there is too much fuss though they say he is shooting up draft boards due to his athleticism, and unlike Jaylen Brown, he has shown strengths in blocking shots and hitting 3s. He has weaknesses, but the Jaylen Brown hype seems more unwarranted to me.

Yeah, I agree. Scola is a good comp too.

Not saying that it's a likely deal but with the new reports of the Lakers isolating D'Lo, I wonder if they'd trade him for our pick if it lands outside of the top 2.

i doubt they would... but D'Lo will have a really hard time to fit in with any NBA team now.

Pass. DLo is an entitled brat, never bought into him as a can't miss prospect.Needs to tighten his handle, he is a slow footed combo guard who isn't quite the floor general, doesn't have a first step to beat defenders off the dribble and can't go strong with his right hand. He is developing a teardrop runner tho. Has a quick release but an irregular shooting form with little lift and a slight hitch ( neither a one or two motion) even for a leftie, and his FT struggles are concenring

Rebounding, rebounding, rebounding. I am so tired of having Suns pf's who don't rebound the ball!

This is an interesting mock here. I wouldnt be opposed to Hield if we can move Knight. Five seems way too high for Sabonis though

Do we really want a guy with that kind of ceiling in the lottery tho? There's a place for guys like that in the league obviously, but at ~12? I mean Jon Leuer had similar limitations coming out of college, a few less pounds, but was even more productive. Would he be a lotto pick in his re-draft?

Leuer played four season for Wisconsin putting around 11 points and 4'5 rebounds per game.

Sabonis on his sophomore season has way better stats (more than 17p and 11r) and the eye test give you a great feel about his game in the pros.

I think Sabonis is not a top prospect in this draft but he is not far away...imo at #12 or #13 he would be a good pick.

At the end of the day I trust McDonough in the draft, not worry at all.
