So we signed Ronnie Price to a ten day contract. He did sign a contract with OKC, but never played a game this season.

Sounds like the Melo to Clippers needs a third team. Anyone hearing any thing out there, or did we really need another small guard?

They've been trying to get him on the coaching staff, I doubt he will play much. We can't even find Barbosa time.

As far as trades go I doubt we signed him as a replacement for any of our players that could be traded. No way we trade that many guards that Ronnie Price is going to take their place.

I'm not sure. Are you saying Bledsoe for Noel and the 76ers pick? If so, I'd counter and ask for a choice between Philly's pick and the Lakers pick if it pays off this season.

I'd expect a similar or better return for Bledsoe as Philly got for Jrue Holiday (2 lottery picks). Although Holiday was an Allstar - Bledsoe is a better player.

Orlando Trade: Augustine + 2017 (top 5 protected) + 2019 LAL unconditional pick.

Philly Trade: LAL Pick + 2020 unprotected

Chicago Trade: this year's Kings pick + 2020 unprotected

Ideally I see us tanking these next 2 seasons and then try competing for the playoffs starting 2019, while holding unprotected picks in 2019, 2020, 2021 from other teams (Miami + another).

Our 2019 line-up could then be:

Ball / Ulis
Booker / Jones
Tatum / Warren
Chriss / (2018 First rounder)
Bender / Len

Trying to get as many wins as possible while holding unconditional picks as insurance or as trade chips to try to land a superstar.

That far into the future, anything can happen. Just look at the Lakers - Noone expected the Nash trade to land such a valuable pick. Basically an unconditional pick in 2020 is a pick with 1/30 odds of being a #1 pick - those are better odds than the 8th worst record has any given year of winning the lottery.

More draft picks is the last thing this team needs and those 2020 picks could easily be in the twenties and right now there's about 50% chance that the Lakers 2019 pick will convey as 2 2nd round picks. I definitely wouldn't trade Bledsoe for this kind of package. It would send a terrible message for the rest of the team. The only kind of Bledsoe trade I would consider is if we "traded up" from Bled to a better player. Trading him for picks and pieces makes no sense IMO.

I should have clarified, if we do trade Bledsoe I don't see it happening at the trade deadline but rather in the offseason - which is when I I would do either ORL/PHIL/CHI trade. We need one guaranteed lottery pick, and one future flyer in return - similar to the Jrue Holiday trade (Noel being the guaranteed lottery pick, Saric being the flyer).

I don't think it sends the wrong message. To our youngsters the message we send is that we're handing over the helms to them. Booker would officially take on the role of top dog, and Chriss, Bender, Len, Warren, Ulis the message would be that after hard work in practice , they will now be handed the opportunity to prove themselves on the court.

I also don't agree that trading for future picks doesn't make sense for us. We need star power in the future, not now. Moving Bledsoe right now for a better player will only make us first round fodder. However, having future picks gives us the opportunity to make a move for a star player to complement our young core when they start to approach their primes.

I don't want any part of Melo. I really don't. I would rather do that trade if it brought Love to Phoenix over Melo

But if the Cavs want Melo - they can do a straight up Melo for Love

But maybe there is a way to be the third team with the Knicks and Clippers -- granted, what do the Clippers have?

Oh I agree completely. I would rather keep Knight than trade for Melo.

Melo would never agree to go to PHX anyway, thankfully.

Giving up on Warren? Terrible. Adding Melo? Knightmarish.

I'd rather make that deal as is minus Melo, I'd expect several more picks coming our way if we had to take that loser in return. I wouldn't mind sending Len and Knight there for the Knicks pick though.

The Knicks - just don't have much to trade
The Cavs - just don't have much to trade
The Clippers - well, aside from Blake Griffin - and I doubt they want to trade him, what do they have ?

The thing with Len - that draft was so bad, and he is a big guy, hate to give up on him. Granted, the 12th pick in the same draft is doing damn well at Center for OKC, in Adams. Hindsight :banghead:

I think Tucker has to be a solo piece - better value. And a team - Raptors could probably use him since they were looking at Millsaps - granted not the score, but the defender. They have young players that might work.

Tyson is still out there but with Lens inconsistencies, can the team trade Chandler for just "cap relief"

Do you really feel that way about Adams? To me he can't do jack squat on his own. He is just a hustle big man that plays decent defense and rolls alright. Are we expecting to much from Len?

Just to clarify some of the posts on this page re: the 76ers pick.... they own the rights to swap picks with the Kings if Sac's pick is in the top 10 and their own pick is worse. Assuming the Kings keep playing poorly I'd guess their pick lands around ~6. Doubtful they'd trade it, but who knows with BC.

I think the jumble of teams 5 games out of the playoffs or less is creating a lot of uncertainty heading into the trade deadline though, something that probably isn't exclusive to McD/the Suns.

No—what would the Suns accomplish by trading for Carmelo Anthony?

In Phoenix's situation, I would rather have P.J. Tucker than Carmelo Anthony.

Maybe are expecting too much from Alex Len

But when I see Adams - I see a guy who knows what he is - and does that well. Board, D and pick and roll.

If they get Bledsoe before the deadl then I would have the sixers in the playoffs this year.
I'd do it for the lakers pick and the Sacramento pick they have coming to them. If they want to give a different big instead of Noel I wouldn't mind.
