I have Mitchell ahead, and I can't disagree with putting Tatum ahead, either. But Ingram? That's wack.

Yeah, I found it interesting that Ingram was slightly ahead. Not surprised about the others though.

The poll really should be "Can he be one?"

It's mind boggling from a Suns fan perspective but objectively, it's somewhat understandable. There's so many mentions in that thread about the 70pt game as if once you've watched that game, then you know everything about him. Guarantee more than half of those guys have no watched more than 10 Booker games (including the 70pt game) and just presume he's just a chucker. Honestly, NBA fans just don't watch Booker/Suns games because we suck and I don't blame them for their ignorance but that doesn't mean they aren't ignorant of his progress.

The defense questions and ability to uplift the rest of the team are reasonable but with Harden being an MVP who plays no defense and essentially always having star level players or super ancillary support players around him, it's not hard to imagine Booker nearly as productive and impactful had he had a similar roster.

I'm not saying he's destined to be a superstar on the level of a Lebron because no one is like that but he's the best player, on a young team which is still learning to play the game of basketball and he's still only 21.

Nobody thinks he is going to become the next Lebron but I do believe he will be a superstar

You are completely right on how most people on the GB only know of the 70 point game and the Suns record. They don't know how much attention Booker has drawn from defenses due to the lack of talent around him. I mean, Isaiah Cannan, who was basically out of the league, looked like a starter on the Suns last year and he was our best PG out there next to Booker. The only real quality NBA player out there with Booker is Warren as Bender and Chriss were just given minutes due to their youth, Chandler looks like he is ready to call it quits, and we would just pick up point guards who were out of the league and start them with Booker.

Also, even with all this attention on him, he still is able to score on decent efficiency, imagine what it will be when the whole defense isnt just focused on him.

I believe over the next 2-3 years when the Suns get back to contention, everybody will suddenly flip and say how he is a superstar which could be seen since his "breakout 70-point game".

I really hope he gets to superstar level and takes this team to the next level and shut those people up, especially those who are saying Brandon Ingram is better than Booker

TBH reading the comments on that thread, I almost wish Booker didn't have that 70pt game...

It's hilarious that Booker's haters mention his 70-point game more often than his fans.

The highlights of that game is the only exposure to Booker for some of his haters

Exactly. Booker is 21 years old. Other than maybe LeBron and Durant, how many “franchise players” have there been at 21 in the past 10-15 years?

And I think everyone’s interpretation of what a franchise players differs too. For example, I consider a franchise player as someone who can be the best player on a team that makes the playoffs and can at least win a playoff series. I don’t agree with the “franchise player is only players that can be the best player on a championship team” thing. But I’m sure many disagree with my interpretation as well.

BTW I think your post and one of lilfishi’s posts in that thread summed it up really well.

Yeah, I mean what the hell even IS a franchise player? I think a guy rugbyrunner (or some name like that) summed it up well. He is the face of the Suns franchise and just got a max, so by definition, to the Suns, he IS their franchise player.

But if someone said "Who are the franchise players in the NBA?" By the criteria I just stated, Booker would be, but some other more accomplished or all around better players might not be considered franchise players....considering we have super teams.

So threads like that are too difficult to answer without a lot of context into what you really mean.

There are some reasonable posters and then there's some who just seem extremely shallow in their analysis that rivals that of a casual fan. That's just the kind of cross-section you get on there. And again, I don't really blame their ignorance because who wants to watch the Suns if you're not a Suns fan but that doesn't mean they aren't ignorant.

Mitchell
Booker
Ingram
Tatum
Brown

I’d put Murray over Brown.

So does Booker get even more star treatment from the refs this year after getting the $158M contract? He already had 6.1 FT attempts per game last year which was 14th in the league. Will that number go up?

Booker is going to be a two-way star. I love Igor. The expectations and accountability of Igor compared to Triano are on a different planet fax

I’m too lazy to write a post about my appreciation for Igor will try again tomorrow

I love tatum, wanted the suns to draft him badly and think he's a great player, but that kid is getting some super overhypeage.
I hate this team.

Boston, LA, and New York tend to do that.

I think its hilarious that people would take Jaylen Brown over Booker.

found this gem on the hornets board :D (booker thread for 2015 draft)

I know he has a good frame, good shooting mechanics and decently athletic, but what makes him any better than Troy Daniels? Daniels can hit wide open shots just like Booker and is actually probably a better shooter. I just don't think Booker projects as an elite scorer at the NBA level. He will be lucky to be as good as JJ Redick at the end of his career. Redick had a lot of time to develop at Duke and came into the NBA knowing what it was like to be the man, get his own shot, be the guy the defense is focused on stopping. Booker will never be that guy at the next level.

this quote is amazing on so many levels

other than this post, most of them seemed high on booker (and rightfully so!) but I guess this is why that one dude was pushing the kaminsky > booker narrative
