He was an assistant with the Spurs from 1996 to 2013 and won all 4 titles with them as an assistant. Bud is one of the more successful coaches coming from the Pop coaching tree. Monty, Jenkins, Udoka, Kerr, Rivers and Mike Brown all coached/played under Pop. Even Michael Malone got the Pop bump who was hired as an assistant coach under Mike Brown in Cleveland.

If I was a dictator I'd send every last one of them to the gulag for what they perpetrated.

Yeah.....it's not that serious

But I know this is your schtick and I appreciate the passion

The old schoolers will know.

Today I watched the Olympic opening ceremony and saw Parker and nearly threw my remote at the TV and was hoping he slipped in the puddles.

Well they technically did, if they can cut him w/o taking on dead salary.

He makes about $750K less. I wonder how much that saves in luxury tax?

I think we are in repeater tax so it’s like 3x or 5x that amount.. not insignificant especially if no 2nds were paid

I heard $5.6 million if they cut Liddle. That’s a lot for a player that wasn’t going to play. I would rather they keep that spot open unless they can sign one of these one in done free agents. Next up is probably trying to get rid of Little. Hornets need to stop playing & bring Little back to Charlotte for Richards. Would be another almost $5 million in tax saved too & balance the roster.

Cut who? Liddell? Hes getting paid unless he decides he doesnt like money and takes a buyout.

A few assistent coaches hired. Not exactly exciting news, but can't expect much in next two months. Anything worth discussing will come from the Olympics in next 2-3 weeks. Just read in GB thread that KD is going to play in the opener against Serbia tomorrow.

Oh yeah, I saw Brent Barry was hired. Who are all the assistant coaches? Do we have Stotts as an asst coach? If so, that would be nice.

That would be really great. He could start, be the first guard off the bench, but then we'd have two solid PGs suddenly.

There’s your starting PG if the deal happens.

Hard to believe Jones would take a vet min. Pistons have room to sign him still and there are a lot of teams with mid-level exceptions. I imagine it would need to be a sign and trade type of deal. Moving Nassir Little would be a good option. Might have to give up future second rounders though.

Jones/Morris/Lee
Beal/Allen/Okogie
Book/O'Neal/Dunn
Durant/Bol/Liddell
Nurk/Plumlee/Ighodaro

Edit: Lots of flexibility position-wise with O'Neal, Book, and Allen. O'Neal as second unit PF makes the most sense with more time going to Grayson at SG/SF

Wow that would be huge for us and honestly a bit of a bailout given our cap situation. Here's to hoping Jones signs with us. We'd still have our 31' 1st and little/Okogie to throw out on the line for another bench player too.

From a tweet posted earlier before hiring Posey:

"Suns coaching staff under Mike Budenholzer:

David Fizdale
Chad Forcier
Vince Legarza
Mike Hopkins
Chaisson Allen
Brent Barry

Might be room for one more, and we know former Atlanta Hawks big man Pero Antic was with the Suns at Summer League for a trial run".

We are 7 deep on players and 7 deep on assistent coaches. Championship incoming. Woo hoo.

If we get Tyus . Suns will be top 3 in west. He will be the glue for the offense, and is what we need.

Hope we are not getting our hopes up.. I mean if we promise Tyus a starting spot that’s a pretty attractive offer to rebuild value for next offseason right?

That would also make me excited because it could mean we have a super deep bench if Beal accepts a Ginobli role. With PG leaving the clippers we can probably get away with Allen at the 3 defensively out West now

PG - Tyus / Morris
SG - Book / Beal
SF - Allen / Oneal
PF - KD / Bol
C - Nurk / Plum
