Well if he is healthy and re-signed and motivated he is probably a top 5 player in the league...and young. The chances that any pick exceeds his talent is not great.

But another part of the reason I'd lean toward keeping the pick even with him is that with the juggernauts up top, we likely wouldn't get far for a few years anyway, and it would be best for our team to really peak in 4-5 years when the other teams hopefully are fading a bit.

It wouldn’t have been that laughable 2 years ago when he finished top 5 in MVP voting and seen as best 2 way player in the entire league...

Wow you'll believe any silly "rumor" to take a shot at McD. We know you don't like him, you don't need to bring it up at every opportunity. The Amick "rumor" is so blatantly stupid and unbelievable that no one with half a brain would give it any credence, but you seem to have. I thought you were better than this.
Guilty as charged mr law. I don't believe in mcd, i liked his profile when hired and liked his early moves but don't think he's been a good gm since. I really hope he proves me wrong I'd love to eat crow.

I don't really think this move is likely but i do worry overall about what desperate move he might make.

That was two years ago and coming off last season where he sat out because of injury or being a or not returning because of a disgruntlement. Two years ago, the comparison would have been Ben Simmons, a fine player but who cannot do the most valuable thing on a basketball court - shoot. It is now laughable now.

I hate Bradley less than Smart and some of the other suggestions, but if he comes it better be crazy cheap. He needs a show me year because he was absolutely garbage away from Stevens.

We are linked to Kawhi just like the Kings strictly because of owning the high pick. Just like in FA we are linked to everybody because we have capspace. We get used to inflate prices and have fake rumors floated about because of where we stand and what we have, thats it.

If you don't think this move is likely, why would you worry about it? Seems to me to be a waste of time and energy.

I am most concerned about McD panicking AND Sarver panicking

hopefully both will let the market play itself out and see what options as a "third wheel" there are - or better yet, maybe its best to stay away from teams that are LeBron/Kawhi focused and make other deals. We saw what happens if you sign Tyson Chandler to swing and miss for Aldridge. The team has a good young core -- adding Ayton or if McD trades back for more assets - will still have a good player to the core. Add some solid veterans that better the bench but also will give the organic growth the young players need so in a couple years - the real push is on.

If Kawhi didn't cost Josh Jackson AND he would sign an extension - that's one thing, but no guarantees. I think probably best to stay away from Kawhi.

Ray Ray are you hearing things or just think its obvious with the Boston connection

interesting - I think he might be solid defensively but how will he play next to Knight and Booker - that's a big question to me

kawhi doesn't have the body of work over time of being the focal point when winning at a high level to justify being worth a #1 pick. He is hugely talented but not a #1 option on a championship team. I don't think there is any substance to the #1 pick for Kawhi rumor. Even from an objective evaluation of his talent it doesn't make any sense at all. I also don't agree that he is a top 5 talent in this league. When paired in the perfect situation with an aging, but still elite, Tim Duncan and aging, but still high level, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker then Kawhi was able to excel since the other stars were drawing all of the attention from opposing defense. Kawhi has never shown the ability to be the number focus on a team and deprived high level results.

I'm all for for going after kawhi, but trading the #1 pick for him is franchise crippling.

We’re talking about Kawhi Leonard not Paul George. For the record trading for him without a deal is asinine but yeah, he’s amazing.

Growing up a bucks fan I've seen enough bad gm'ing to be worried when someone I don't believe in is backed into a win now corner.

IDK, im not a Bradly fan. I feel like he is overhyped. His best season was 2 years ago, his last with the Celtic's (2016-2017). He was All-Defensive 1st team. Weird that Smart had a better Defensive rating THIS SEASON than Bradley did during that award winning season. Sub-40% 3 Point shooter his entire career with last season one of his worst (In terms of percentage and shots taken).

Last season he was outplayed by Elfrid Payton (In everything except 3 point % & FT%).

Image

Bradley just doesnt make any sense to me. Might as well keep the cheaper and younger Payton and hope that the haircut bumps those percentages a lil bit higher.

100% he can d a guy up 1 on 1 from time to time but overall his defensive metrics have been lackluster his whole career and trending down. He's a rotten shooter and has pg size but has no pg skills. The pistons couldn't wait to unload him this year and he had some legal trouble.

If the Spurs decide to trade Kawhi to the Lakers for Deng/Kuzma/Ingram do you think they’d be looking to trade LMA too? They are going to lose Parker and I know he didn’t help very much this past season but they could easily start to crumble especially with aging vets.
We could give the Spurs Chriss (to pair with Murray, college buddies), the 16th pick, and the Bucks pick, along with Dudley and maybe Alan Williams.

Want to say though, pretty sure Lebron is orchestrating all this. He told Kawhi to tell his people that he wants to go to LA. This lowers Kawhi value around the league and makes no one really want to make a deal. Lebron tells Lakers front office to swing the above deal and Spurs accept. Lebron and PG sign. Might have to be for a smaller one year or two year contract before they can do some kind of max contract later.

Return to Phoenix Suns
