If we go belly up and drop out of the playoff picture, we'll likely see some player movement. We'll commit to the core of youth and flip redundant vets for whatever we can get. That gives us half a season of evaluation with no pressure to win games.

If we go on a bit of a streak and solidify our place in the playoff race, youth be damned (for the second straight year) we are going to chase that carrot and worry about the blowback in the offseason.

I'd love to see some PHX playoff basketball as I'll be heading to the US in April/May... But I'm not 100% sold that, long term, this is the best scenario for us.

I really hope that this is what we'll do. I am not convinced we/Hornacek will not try to go for the most wins possible even if we seem out of the race...I'm dying to see Warren, Ennis and even Goodwin get minutes every game we play.

Unfortunately I see this happening as well. OKC could overtake us (like expected) but I doubt Hornacek gives any of the young guys playing time even then.

And yes I'm with you on that last part as well. This season I watch Suns games more to watch the development of Len more so than anything.

Our dollar (AUD) is going to hit 70 cents to the USD this year.... hope you bought some US currency last year when it was closer to parity.

Same.

Thats why I dont understand why some Suns fans arent supportive of him.

Every game I see, the things he does... all I think is.. "man, if he had a shot, he would be a terror to guard".

The shot... will come, he doesnt have to be Kyle Korver from 3.... he doesnt need to be Curry or Thompson from anywhere...
He just need to be like Bledsoe or Dragic level... and both are VERY attainable with time.

I really do think McD is high on Goodwin, he has the McD draftee typical traits, long wingspan, athletic, fast, aggressive, high upside.

Do we have to crawl up his ass to be supportive ???? If so, we might have to pry your lips off the entrance.

Jeebus... how about we keep 'All Things Goodwin' in the Goodwin thread, unless you have a trade for him. I swear, I'm about hoping the kid gets traded just to end this tit4tat discussion. Act like you have seen a draft pick that is a project before. You GoodWhiners have mootly made your point... he'll play when he plays and not another GD about his vaunted 'potential' PLEASE

Someone suggested earlier in the thread trading for Donatas Motiejunas.

Watching his highlights I'm on board for that.

A front line of Keef Motiejunas Wright and Len would be formidable, good on offense good at shot blocking

I would give thomas green and plumlee for the big man.

He has big time post moves, can play D block shots board a little and shoot 3's

D-Mo is not a McD type player. He is quite skilled but has little talent and a low ceiling. That is the antithesis of what McD wants.

Highlights may be deceiving. Motiejunas is far from a good defensive player. He has a great back to the basket game and a lot of size for a power forward, but that's the extent of his value at this point.

I could see Portland perhaps going after Brook Lopez now. It would pair him with his brother and also give them some much needed help in the front court.

Something along the lines of Batum/Robinson/McCollum/pick(s) while being willing to taking on Jarret Jack's contract I suppose.

I was thinking something along these lines as well.

The difference is that i believe they would move Matthews instead of Batum. Matthews will be a FA, so there for he would be a big expiring for Brooklyn. He also is going to be coveted in FA and seems like a guy they would go after seeming how they have been trying to find Wings to give to Charlotte in a 3-way for Stephenson. Matthews would give them everything that they wanted to get from Lance when they signed him, a player that can score 20 points on any given night, that can also hit the 3 and play great defense. If the 3 way were to happen, Hornets would get Matthews bird rights and would most definitely re-ink him on a new deal, something that seems hard for them to do when it comes to attracting players in FA.

I think if Charlotte were to get Matthews, they would have no problem remaining in the playoff hunt.

So this is the trade i think would happen: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pt4v3ph

Blazers get Lopez
Nets get Stephenson/Claver/McCullum
Hornets get Matthews

With Brook spending time this past month or so playing PF, that would give the Blazers new options. He could start at C, but also play back-up PF (Next to his brother when he comes back in a week) when Aldridge needs to rest. It would also help them with the next few months while Aldridge is sidelined with injury. Batum would be called on to provide more, which i believe he could with Matthews gone and Wright taking over the starting 2 guard spot. Wright gives them the same thing Matthews did, but with a bit less defense.

Last I heard, Nets don't even want Stephenson anymore.

I think Nets want a young asset that's locked up and Batum fits that bill. He's a great defender and usually a good shooter. He's perfect fit for Lionel Hollins defense system.

I think Portland's gonna try and resign Matthews at all costs.

We have no shot at signing Wes Matthews unless we guarantee him a starting job. Imagine the ramifications of doing that. Our roster is too full to be attractive to all but a superstar fa who knows he will start.

They still want Stephenson, the issue that halted the OKC 3way was the Nets didnt want to be saddled with Perkins contract for the season. They want to get as low as they can. I revised the trade (Claver now going to Charlotte) and posted it on the trade board.

As for Matthews, yeah, im sure they would love to keep him, but they have a few issues. One being that Matthews will be commanding a decent raise on his next contract (Im guessing around $12M). The 2015 FA class is rather weak, and he seems to be one of the top names in it, so by default i believe a team will overspend just to get him. Then add in the fact that Aldridge and RoLo are both FA's and both of them will be looking for decent pay raises as well. They only have 6 players under contract for next season (Most of them crap end-of-the-bech types), so more than likely they will have to spend on a few more players as well. Aldridge will get at least $18M. Im guessing Lopez will get somewhere in the $8M-$10M range. So they will be looking at roughly $40M just for those 3 players, and thats if they are lucky and a team doesnt go all out and try to over pay one of them.

So combine that $40M with the other $26M that they currently have on the books for (Lillard/Batum/McCollum/Leonard/Crabbe/Blake) and they are pretty much screwed. They will only have a few mill left to fill out the rest of the roster.

No one is talking about signing him. All this Blazer talk was about a trade that we would have no part in.

Yeah. I would image if the Blazers stand pat they will miss Aldridge for at least the next 17 games (6 weeks). They have a real risk of slipping to the bottom of the Western conference playoff spots or maybe right out of them. They have gone 1-5 over their last six games and lost to Boston at home last night.

Damn I love Wes Matthews.

If Dragic was offered a $18M+/yr deal somewhere else, would you match that offer for Dragic or sign Matthews for $12M/yr?

I'm getting wet at the thought of a Bledsoe-Matthews backcourt.....best defensive backcourt in franchise history and it won't even be close. Good enough offense too if Bledsoe can improve on running an offense by himself.

What would you do though? Match that offer for Goran or sign Wes for $12M/yr?

Teletovic for Green!

Salaries match, frees up mins for the guards and he's a legit stretch 4 off the bench...

I would take Matthews @ $12M over Dragic @ $18M all day long.

Honestly, i would take Matthews @ $12M over Dragic @ $15M.

Matthews also has a special relationship with Coach. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index ... ews_7.html

I know i said it before, but a Bledsoe/Matthews/Tucker/??????/Len line-up would be AMAZEBALLS!

All is quiet on the Western Front.

How do we get a lineup of... Bledsoe/Mathews/Tucker/Faried/Len?

In that situations I'd almost want to get Frye back.

Bledsoe/Mathews/Tucker/Faried/Len
Ennis/Green/Morris/Morris/Frye
Goodwin/Bog/Warren
