Per 36 in his last season was 13.2/10.3....pretty solid for a backup. He's shown range from the 3 as well....his career 3pt percentage, while low at 25% shows that he can stretch the floor when asked. He's also considered a fan favorite, and has a great attitude. And he'll provide some veteran leadership.

This could be and maybe is why phoenix is in the running. If lma wants the 1+1 and bird rights Portland needs to agree to do a s&t. So if Portland says f it we really don't care about the TPE created and they actually want assets to play ball in a s&t they might ask for 1st rounders from San Antonio. That's a risky thing for San Antonio because lma could still leave next year along with their other gizers and they would be screwed.
This is where phoenix might have an advantage because I would assume Portland would be willing to take keif in a sign and trade (and the suns would need to do it to clear the room to make it happen).
This might actually be the behind the scenes thing that the national media hasn't caught on to and is why phoenix has a true shot.
oh its not even lma being sentimental it's a straight up benefit to his pocket book. If he can get Portland to do the sign and trade on a 1+1 he can get a 5 year deal next summer with the highest possible raises. That is a huge bonus chip if LaMarcus feels bad about leaving Portland (I'm guessing he does), if we can give the Kieff to seal it, that is huge, if it is important to him to leave Portland with something...SA can't do that....GREAT thought.
