I’ve always liked Fizdale as a coach. Would love to have him come here and take over the HC not on an interim basis, but permanent basis.

He’s the scapegoat for all the issues they have in Memphis and I think our young players need a guy like Fizdale.

If the Suns don't think they have a realistic chance with Ettore Messina, then they should go after Fizdale. Not sure who they'd be able to get that's better.

One thing I noticed about Fizdale was that he always had rookies and random young guys, sometimes undrafted guys playing minutes and sometimes starting, and sometimes when one of their stars were out...mostly last year I'm talking about, but they'd be competitive and pull out wins. I remember Troy Williams was one of them last year.

But it is a little questionable he is let go after 1 year and 12 games. They won 43 last year which was one more than the year before (though the year before Gasol and Conley missed a combined 34 more games than they did last year). With Conley/Gasol being a lot more healthy you'd think they would have won more.

And they had won in the 50s the three years before that.

He went on to say that Schroeder has soured in the eyes of Hawk's fans for pushing out Teague, not getting along with Dwight, character issues, etc.

If they're willing to off-load Schroeder for such little return, this is a major red flag in terms of his character. This guy actually prefers to have Brandon Knight. What the f***?!?!

Which Hawks fan? Post the link please. That's crazy talk.
To be clear most Hawks fans prefered/wanted Schoeder over Teague - Teague lacked heart.
Dennis may have issues but nobody is/was taking Dwights' side.

Those trades are not realistic, especially the third trade - Phoenix ends up with Dennis and 2 - 1st rounders from Atlanta   and Atlanta is getting back 2nds and 2 old role players. How does that help an Atlanta rebuild?

So is Atlanta just going to get rid of Budenholzer? I saw it was rumored that he wasn't the right coach for a rebuilding team. If that's the case, if he was available, would he be right for us? Obviously he's a better option that what we have. Would we just be saying Atlanta is wrong? I wonder if he was perhaps on his way out if it had anything to do with him not wanting to be part of a rebuild.

Budenholzer is a mini Popovic... when he had the players (Teague, Korver, Milsap, Horford and Carroll) they were so fun to watch. Very tactical, good ball movement, CLEAR roles for players.

Thats what Suns needs... a structure that maximises a player's strengths and minimizes his weaknesses. The Suns current offense and defense rely heavily on one on one and individuals creating and hitting tough shots.

I'd want him as Suns coach for sure.... but Suns must make moves to push for playoffs next season (I think its better to get a top 5 pick this season).... Go for Cousins, George, package some of the picks for future picks and veteran help)

I know what Budenholzer is...an ex Pop assistant and he was very good with a lineup perfectly suited for that with solid vets and shooters, as well as depth...Teague/Korver/Carroll/Millsap/Horford with a bench of Schroeder/Sefolosha/Bazemore

Atlanta would be dumb to let him go. Not sure why he'd leave for the Suns. There are no indications he wants to leave or they want to get rid of him. Clearly they know he's not the reason they are bad after they got rid of that entire starting team.

I know someone posted here otherwise but there is nothing in any news that I've seen about it.

Bud wanted to keep Millsap initially. He and the new GM had a meeting of the minds and Bud is on board with the direction. Hawks fans want Bud. Since his tenure with the Hawks, Bud has always overachieved with solid vets but not high end talent. Hopefully this draft he can get one to coach. John Collins has been a good pick so far - so that's a good start in year 0 of the rebuild. Hawks haven't had a lottery pick of their own dince Al Horford 10 years ago at #3.
As Hawks rebuild, Budenholzer shows he will rely on young players

Before the season, with speculation about whether Mike Budenholzer would be on board with the roster rebuild, I wrote:

“Surely Budenholzer would rather be chasing championships as a coach/top executive. But that’s no longer his job with the Hawks. I think he will do his best to win as many games as he can with the team he’s got, while also staying faithful to the organization’s long-term plan.”

After 20 games, I’d say that’s what Budenholzer has been doing with the 2017-18 Hawks.

I think that shows Budenholzer’s willingness to play young guys in service to player development. That’s the way it should be for the Hawks during Phase 1 of their rebuild–really, how many more victories would they have if Budenholzer didn’t play the fringe youngsters?

Budenholzer had never been in this situation though, either as a longtime Spurs assistant or Hawks head coach, so now we have evidence that he’s on board with the long-term plan.

I was wondering where the firsts were coming from. I mean even without picks it sounded like something that was too good for Phx.

Yes, I know it well, because we owned that pick from the Joe Johnson/Boris Diaw sign and trade, but it was top 3 protected and you guys got the third pick.

You improved so much the pick the next year ended up late lotto or maybe you made the playoffs, but it turned into Robin Lopez.

As for the quote about Budenholzer being on board..yes I googled for rumors about him maybe wanting to leave after reading it and came across the same thing.

Atlanta has the Minny and Houston 2018 1st.

I checked the Hawks Trade Thread and didn't see those trades, only this one by what I presume is a Suns fan...

There was speculation as expected about Bud the Coach since Bud the GM/POB got fired.
But all seems well.

The suns should interview Fizdale....... after the season along with a handful of dudes. Do this search the right way this time.

Crazy to think if we had that 1st...Horford with Nash & Amare would’ve been terrorizing.

Little bit early for Ball to be hitting that Rookie wall wouldnt you say?

Besides like 2-3 good games, he has played like absolute ****. Hell, i expected a half-decent game from him tonight against the Clippers, but Rivers is putting him to shame.

I wonder how many Laker fans are now regretting trading D'angelo away to clear room for The Ball Era (Error).

What our rotation should look like:
PG:Booker/Ulis
SG:Reed (when healthy)/Daniels
SF:Warren/Josh
PF:Bender/Quese
C:Chandler or Len/Moose

Notes:
-More spacing
-Better perimeter defense from starters
-Quese can help Monroe with rim protection and coming off the bench should limit quick foul potential
-Mike James shouldn't play

What's Fizdale's difference maker?

If LeBron didn't go to Miami would he just be a journeyman assistant?

And his Memphis record was under .500 fired within 18 months.

I don't think I should be able to say those things about the next great championship coach.

I keep forgetting that we have Reed. When is he coming back?

We are really going to have a numbers crunch if we don't move Monroe and someone else soon.

Also, we need to get Jahlil if he is bought out. I just have a good feeling about his fit here even with his horrid advanced numbers and our plethora of bigs. Does anybody who knows the CBA a bit better than me know if the max offer rule applies if he is bought out and signs with us? What I mean is are we capped with our re-signing amount the way we would be with a trade.
