Then maybe we raise the offer a bit. If he convinces us he wants to be here, then he's worth 4/54 or maybe even 5/70 as long as the last year is a team option.

In the meantime, we explore sign and trade options for the MAX and see if anyone bites.

+1

I've pushed for a higher offer previously but after learning that he hasn't even come in for a sit down, it's probably doing ourselves a disservice by upping the offer without negotiation. I don't think anyone is going to bite on the MAX though and I certainly wouldn't want trade trash on my team just to make the money work.

I wonder if Monroe and Bledsoe expect salaries to soar with the new TV deal and thus 15 mil per year becomes middle class? Perhaps these guys think they can bang out a max deal because max deals will be handed out like subprime mortgages in 2005?

If you do that Bird rights get transferred with the player if traded. Bird rights are not conferred by signing a contract. Right now, Milsap signed as a free agent with the Hawks last year. He has only played 1 year with the Hawks and has no Bird rights to transfer if he were to be traded. He has to complete 2 consecutive years with the Hawks to earn early Bird rights.

Split is right, and you're kind of right. Bird rights are not conferred by signing a contract, but they constantly accrue once the contract is signed even if traded. Look at it this way, to qualify as a Bird free agent, a player must have played three seasons without being waived or changing teams as a free agent. That is all. You can be traded anytime during those 3 years to any team and still have your bird rights in tact when done.

So here's the thing with Paul. He signed a 2 year deal. Trading for him now would mean we'd have his Early Bird rights and that, as has been stated, means we can go up to 120% of his previous deal beyond the cap to keep him. Alternatively, he can sign a one year deal and we'd have his full Bird rights the following season and then could sign him for whatever we want above the cap after that.

Here is the latest gem of a Bledsoe trade Lin/hill and the rockets pick.
http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/349 ... ledsoe.htm
I wonder if there is any way the suns could get them to change the protection on the pick. Then again trading Bledsoe to the lakers will make the pick worse for the suns. Unless of course Kobe and Eric collide in some sort of mishap. I still wonder if there is any way the lakers would trade randle and if so would you do randle/Nash for Bledsoe?

Lakers are not a good trade partner for us, they have not players that I really want on my team and we have his next year's pick....so if they want Bledsoe they have to look another team and make a three team's trade.

Lakers trade: Nash/Randle/ or Lin/Hill/Picks

Suns trade: Bledsoe ($63M/4)

Mysterious team: great player that we want and fit our system.

Also pleased to hear, since writing about ZORAN Dragic yesterday, that a few NBA teams are indeed tracking him. Hope for a two-Dragic NBA!

I would love to have Zoran on the Suns. Hopefully we can negotiate with Malaga and get him. He is very good right now, but the tricky part is that his progressing in the last two years have been outstanding... I think he can be arotwion plwyer in the NBA since day one.

I wouldn t be opposed to the Bledsoe/lakers trade for Randle and Lin. I fear that the lakers will have a top5 draft pick next yr if they dont add more talent.
With Bledsoe (and minus Randle/Lin ), we shoul have a pick between 6-9 imho, which is a lot better than no pick...

If Kobe plays a full season, the Lakers have a squad good enough to be out of the top five in the lotto. I really don't see the point in making them better by trading them Bledsoe. Are they even able to trade Hill right now?

First, thats a very big if. I don t think he ll play a whole season.
Second: the worst 6 teams are philly, milwaukee, orlando and minn, utah, sac. Then its the lakers - even if Kobe is healthy. If any of these teams get better, which is probable - look out for a laker tank job in the latter part of the season.

Was very impressed by Zoran also. (every how similar he and Goran look on the court, sometimes)

Definitely looked like an nba player out there.

Not if they change the lotto system. And there is no way I would venture to predict who will be the worst teams. Are we already forgetting we were predicted to be the worst West team last year?

I was impressed with him last year, and was hoping we would pick him up last offseason. I like him just as much this year, but I don't know where he would get playing time unless he really beats out IT or GG.

Side note, with the additions of the Morris brothers, and Gerald, how many double letter guys have the Suns had in their history. I think I did the counting on this a few years back, and if I remember correctly, it was around eighteen. So I wonder how many we have had? Edit: if I counted correctly 32 players have played for the Suns that have a first and last name that start with the same letter. :o

Hah! What a strange mind you have, both because you asked the question and because you answered it. (I mean that as a compliment fwiw)

Next you gotta figure out how common alliterative names are generally and compare that to their frequency on a Suns roster

I think we should sign Zoran, to help keep Goran around for a good # next year and trade Goodwin and Len for Mason Plumlee, and run the Brothers3 lineup. :D

Bucks also give a first round pick....to Pels.... maybe we kick in a lesser pick?? Not great for the Pels, but it saves them money... they are over 74 mil for the year, and both Jru and Ryan had injury problems last year, they get two healthy young prospects, money relief, and a couple of picks. Truly becomes A.D's team

You're just saying that because your sn is one.

Actually this came up when we had the many JJs on one squad. Oddly we had many GGs. I think we might have had all the GGs that have been in the league, and might be more common than our love for brothers (not a racial term.)

Edit: I did not include the BB we just drafted, because he hasn't come to the NBA yet.

That'd be nice for us and bucks, not sure why the pelicans do it though. Even with injury issues, they'd much rather get rid of tyreke or Gordon I'm sure. Jrue is a very nice player and on a decent contract too

Yeah, no way the Pels do that. Man, just thinking about the Pels, if they are healthy, they seem like an extremely solid team with six above average players including the best stretch four outside of Love and a top 10 player in the league.

If we swapped rosters with them, Hornacek would probably get the 3 seed with that squad if they were healthy.
