We have all these assets. We keep trying to work out trades, but I am not sure any of them actually get us a better team in the process.

Since Portland needs help at PF for about 8 weeks, and to prevent them from losing their Playoff status, here's another trade idea I'm sure JDLAW will love just as much as my other ones!
In the end, we get Wesley Matthews and Jared Sullinger for the cost of the Morri and Green, Boston gets more expirings, and we all do a SG merry-go-round...Green-Matthews-Turner

That trade makes absolutely no sense for any of those teams.

If Dragic was offered a $18M+/yr deal somewhere else, would you match that offer for Dragic or sign Matthews for $12M/yr?
I'm getting wet at the thought of a Bledsoe-Matthews backcourt.....best defensive backcourt in franchise history and it won't even be close. Good enough offense too if Bledsoe can improve on running an offense by himself.
What would you do though? Match that offer for Goran or sign Wes for $12M/yr?
I would take Matthews @ $12M over Dragic @ $18M all day long.
Honestly, i would take Matthews @ $12M over Dragic @ $15M.
Matthews also has a special relationship with Coach. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index ... ews_7.html
I know i said it before, but a Bledsoe/Matthews/Tucker/??????/Len line-up would be AMAZEBALLS!
Seriously? Matthews is younger so I get it from that standpoint, but I think you're giving too much credit to Matthews' suddenly improved offense. Dragic is still the better player, and Dragic can still play both guard positions, which Matthews can't.

While it may not be a great trade proposal, I fail to see how it doesn't make any sense. Portaland is struggling with it's "bigs" rotation, as was discovered last night when they pretty much had an 11 man rotation. They need help at PF, hence Kieff. In replacing Kieff, we get Sullinger, and why it makes sense for Boston is that they are collecting expirings like it's going out of style, so they trade two players with 2 years remaining, with expirings. Now, yes, the value for Boston is poor, but they get, IMO, a better player in Green, yet, a much worse player at PF. We could throw in a 1st for additional compensation, since they are collecting draft picks as well.
We get Matthews, who is better than Green, but would have to hope he'd sign with us in the off-season, and Sullinger, who upgrades Kieff.
So I don't get why this doesn't make sense? Again, maybe a bit uneven on value, but that can be fixed with draft pick compensation.

Yea I love Goran but Matthews is the one guy I would choose over him if the price is right. An extremely hard worker who takes pride in defense and doing the little things.
Resign Matthews, trade somehow for Taj Gibson (trade Marcus + Ennis?), let Green walk but keep IT (because now we need his offense and we have enough stellar defensive guys to make up for his lack of D).
Bledsoe/IT
Matthews/Goodwin
Tucker/Bullock/Warren
Gibson/Kieff
Len/Wright
Sure we get worse some offensively but God damn, our defense would be freaking amazing!!
I barf at that offense. Defense or not, that offense is disgusting.

Melo and Bosh have crazy big contracts.
Both are impact players but that would hamstring us terribly.
This. The idea is to take the luxury hit for one year, not the next 5 years after. Getting either of these guys gets us in danger of hitting the luxury going beyond this year, and as good as either is, they aren't worth that deal.
Give me Tobias Harris over both of these guys.

So what player in the league is a swing for the fences and only includes taking the cap hit for one year.... I see your concepts, but finish them by also adding names to the possibilities.

For us, Kieff fits our style of play better than Sullinger would. I would definitely love some Wes Mathews, but don't we have enough wings? If he's taking over Green's spot on the bench I doubt he'll stick around after this season. If we move Mathews to the three spot, that's cool. If we didn't have to give up the Morris bros I would be all for it.
For the Blazers I just don't think Turner is a good fit. And I mostly don't care about what Boston gets out of the deal, lol.
All in all, I feel like it's a trade that is made for the sake of making a trade.

Why are you trying to help Portland? It's very possible we're able to catch them now that Aldridge is out.

Yup, it's basically just shuffling pieces and it actually loses us depth without making significant upgrades....
SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Start with expirings. Guys coming off their rookie deals like Harris or non-max guys who are veterans are who you'd target, unless the Suns were set on paying the tax for a few years or hitting the apron.

Re: Official Trade Thread: New Year, New Thread, New Laughs
Can we clarify who is actually on our trade block? I get the feeling most people want zero continuity for our squad. Like it or not, Bled, Dragic, Kieff, Len, Archie, TJ, Ennis and Wright are probably not being shopped. I think IT, Plumlee, Green, Marcus and PJ (although I wouldn't be surprised if he's a keeper too) are the real moving parts we have. If one of our young guys are available, it's most likely Ennis.

I think everyone except Bledsoe-Len can be had right now for the right pieces in return. Kieff-Dragic would likely be on the block but we'd have to get some top-notch talent in return such as Kevin Love/Chris Bosh/Serge Ibaka. IT/Green/Plumlee/Marcus are likely to be pieces we could trade that would net us a veteran role player in return such as JJ Redick/David West/Al Jefferson. Archie/Ennis/Warren/Bullock are sweeteners to any deal that involves Kieff/Dragic in which we get an all-star back. Tucker and Wright I feel are safe, their net value for us is higher than what the trade market would give for them. LA's first isn't going anywhere unless it keeps us from giving up Dragic/Kieff in any said deal.
Just my opinion, feel free to give me insight on what you believe our players are worth.

Re: Official Trade Thread: New Year, New Thread, New Laughs
Len isn't getting traded and Goran for Mathews is terrible. An above average role player for an all NBA PG. I know this board is known for bad trades but this year has been real poopooy. I don't see much out there right now thats going to improve our team, there's no sense in making a trade just for the sake of moving pieces. I still think IT is going to be the first out the door followed by tucker/miles/green.
"Mannnnn I’m like the guy that pissed this whole board off saying literally all year no Mikal, no Mikal in the KD trade."
