Re: Official Free Agent Thread: What to do with our cap space
I'm not really a fan of the Morris twins but they could really be our huge spark plugs off the bench, sort of like our 6th and 7th men, who are capable of keeping the games close when the starters are resting since all they want to do is shoot the **** ball (esp Mook). With that said my proposed line-up for next season is:
Bled/Payne
Knight/Goodwin
Warren/Mook
Solid PF via FA or trade/Kief
Len/Wright
Ship Tucker out for a pick maybe just to gain some cap flexibility. This is assuming Cam Payne is on board at 13. If not I prefer we go for Turner/Kaminsky and pair their length + offensive skills with Len. Having two 7 footers in the frontline wouldn't be so bad.
Anyway, tough task ahead for McD and co. to turn us from a mediocre 13/14 pick team, 8th seed contender into a sure fire post-season candidate but I still have faith in this regime. I really hope our core guys Bled, Goodwin, Warren, and Len improve their games and learn to play to each others' strengths cause our best chance right now other than signing FA's is to ensure that our 'home-grown' players continue to play better. Just my 2 cents.

letsgosuns wrote:Wade supposedly wants 20 million a year for three years and the Heat offered him under 10 million a year. Would anyone consider giving it to him? Is that idea insane? He is one of the greatest players of all time and when he is healthy is still a top five player. Could the Suns help revive his career with their world-renowned training staff? Does a lineup built around Bledsoe-Wade-Warren-new pf-Len with maybe Goodwin, Granger, Stoudemire, Wright, and Dudley off the bench create an opportunity to win right now? You could even start Stoudemire if he can handle it. I did not mention Tucker or the Morris brothers because their contracts would have to be traded in order to clear up cap space to sign Wade. But in all seriousness, is a healthy Wade worth 20 million a year. I think he is. It is worth talking about because I think he would seriously consider the Suns if they showed up to his house on July 1 and offered him a 3 year, 60 million dollar contract.
Honestly the only team that would offer him anything close to what he wants would be the team that drafted him but even they aren't keen on giving him more than $10m a year. It's a shame since I think based on his tenure and the accolades he brought to the team, that they would do the respectful thing and pay him ala Kobe.
Like you said, when he's healthy, he's still going to give you 20/4/5 on decent percentages. But he's more suited for a team like the Mavs or Grizz that could use a veteran upgrade at the 2 not a rebuilding team like us.

Too expensive, bad defender, and old. If we had a lot of shooters though, could sign him for cheap when he is a FA, and didn't land a good PF that could play soon in the draft, I'd sign him on the cheap to back up Kieff maybe.

ok, he is old, but do i understand it right that he is on his last contract year? i think it would be a nice addition, if we can sign him for cheap.
my bad, he has one more year to go, so he is not the solution..

Miami has alot of problems and hard decisions. They are in the same position with Wade that the Suns were with Nash. All good for us. They do not have the horses to pull off a trio signing like before. I think it bodes well for the picks we will get from them down the road.

I hope Tucker and Green won't be on this team next season. I have lot of respect for Gerald for his professional acting this season but don't like his low iq and lack of defence. It's exciting when he scores lots of points in few minutes but when he isn't shooting well he is harmful for the team.
PJ would be more useful for contender than for rebuilding team. I want to see Warren play.
I hope Wright will be resigned though.

This was exactly my thoughts after last night.
David Lee provides scoring, rebounding and passing.
Pretty much Kevin Love... but without the 3pt shooting. Which is critical for what the Suns need currently..
But can be adjusted if the Suns get a 3pt specialist or two to come in off the bench.
Also the Wade scenario... well I would be open for that.. definitely, the Suns can extend his career a year or two, good for 20/5/5 for the next 3 years.
But Heat are posturing, they will re-sign him, they are making a run for another championship... Dragic, Wade, Bosh, Deng, Whiteside... just needs veteran bench players.

Suns without David Lee are 9th-10th seed on the West
Suns with David Lee are 9th-10th seed on the West
What would he change?
Plus I thing we need pf that either spread the floor or protects the rim. Ideally somebody who can do both this things.

Re: Official Free Agent Thread: What to do with our cap space
Wish we could throw all our assets at the Pacers to get Paul George. Bled+Warren+MoBros, Miami's Picks, Cavs Picks, 2 1st Round Picks of ours (a little protection). Why would the Pacers do it? They wouldn't, but damn, I just wish we had some cornerstone piece to build around.
Kevin Love please opt out and join the Suns.

I wouldn't mid going strong after Jimmy Butler and offering the bulls some kind of S&T. But like you said those are just wishes.

This won't happen. He's not a point guard.

Re: Official Free Agent Thread: What to do with our cap space
Didnt listen to the whole convo, just heard him allude to a freeagent target the Suns are linked to or said to be persuing. So I actually pulled into my garage (after driving home from work), and sat for 3-4 mins to wait till they came back from commercial to see who this was. When he mentioned Demarre Carroll, it was so upsetting I just turned the damn car off and went into the house. Actually sat and waited for this ****!!!!!

I just listened to the podcast of it from yesterday at http://arizonasports.com/?nid=244&a=312962&p=&n= It was towards the end of hour 2. Gambo said a few things. He mentioned the Suns are most likely going to keep their pick at 13. If they make a trade, it would be to trade for a better pick or a veteran player, but they will not be trading down in the draft. Then he said the main free agent name he is hearing is Demarre Carroll. He said afterward that the next name he is hearing besides Carroll that the Suns are extremely interested in is Danny Green, who myself and a bunch of posters on here want. He also said he thinks there is major pressure coming from the top of the organization to make the playoffs this year and that he expects a free agent signing and a trade. Maybe not a complete overhaul, blockbuster type trade, but a trade to bring in new blood to the team. Overall it sounds like the Suns want to make some changes obviously.

That insistance to make the playoffs will again be our downfall
