I hope he doesn't draw this out like LeBron did last year.

Suns just used almost all their open cap space for Chandler. If they want Aldridge, they have to clear close to 20 million. That is the Morris brothers and Tucker which equal 18.5 million.

Tucker/Warren/Granger

Chandler/Len

Just wow. That frontcourt. And we got the defense across the boards. Granger/Aldridge/Chandler is a solid group of veterans to mentor/lead this young team.

I think with that roster - you could find a veteran guard to play for you on the cheap for shooting depth.

I think a guy like Patric Young would be perfect to groom as a back up 4 - young guy to learn from Chandler and Granger.

And I agree, the twins would be a solid fit for Portland to rebuild from losing Aldridge. Plus draft picks.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe we have to do a sign and trade after signing Chandler.

With only Knight's cap hold on the books, we have about 12-13 million in cap space. Tyson takes up that space immediately.

sunsfever68 wrote:Suns insider on twitter saying Suns would wanna do kieff+picks to PDX for Aldridge (why picks? just do kieff)

PDX wants Bledsoe bc their GM drafted him back with the Clippers.

If that helps get the deal done then fine here's bledsoe.

I'd prefer to keep bledsoe bc talent wins and I think you give him another year to see if he can get those turnovers down, but I'd be ok giving up bledsoe and getting LMA

Blazers brass has denied that they have any interest in doing a sign and trade involving LMA which seems implausible anyway this late. Anyways even if they were open to we would have to keep Bled because acquiring LMA means we're in win-now mode. I know Bled will probably never develop into a floor general and we are spoled/have a standard for PGs after watching Kidd,Nash, etc but if he's gone our backcourt is in shambles. At least you can count on Bled to be selfless and look for teammates and he is a technically proficient passer who can sometimes wow you. BKnight just lacks the PG instinct, and really he's an unwilling undersized 2 in a 1's body who wants to be ball dominant to create his own shot rather than distribute. And throwing Archie into the fire/ starting SG job could be disastrous and the only likely outcome of it would be to know what we really have in him. Booker a sa 18 year old rook who neds to round out his game is obviously not ready for major minutes and should be eased into the rotation imo

I think David King is messing up the order of trades to get that number.

Suns would:

1. Sign LMA
2. Sign Wright using bird rights
3. S&T to Dallas for Chandler
4. Sign Knight

I have a feeling Amare and other vet FAs would love to sign here on the cheap if we could pull off this crazy LMA move

Me too. If it's true that we have to clear $9m, Tucker and Mook would do it.

If Aldridge agrees, they can clear the Morris brothers and Tucker any way they want. It does not have to be to Portland. They can trade them to under the cap teams in the East for nothing in return.

If the Suns get Aldridge, no way they move Bledsoe. Tucker and the Morris brothers are history. They will attach draft picks to send out their contracts if they have to.

This day just got a whole lot more interesting. Unreal. Cannot wait to see what happens next.

I'm blown away too. McD just spent 50M on a 33 year old borderline starter in large part to attract another player. Who in their right mind thinks Tyson Chandler will close the deal with a superstar when he's the 2nd best center on the team?

He's 32, not 33

Borderline starter? He averaged a double double last year. 67%fg, 72%ft. 20 PER

It's fine if you don't like the signing, but don't spit out false information to support your opinion

1. Don't have enough room to sign LMA to a max deal as is. Started off FA with 15 mill in space, because of point 2
2. To free up just 15 million in cap space, we have to renounce Wright, so we don't have Bird Rights

So it would be:

1. SandT Wright for Chandler
2. SandT ______ for Aldridge
3. Sign Knight

You are totally correct.

I was actually thinking about a guy like Mo Williams. I get he is inconsistent - but on this nights when he is on, he might win you a game or two during the season. Suns are lacking a shooter. Aldridge would help the mid range game.

Don't we get Bird Rights for all 3 through the S+T?

Have to renounce rights in order to clear their cap holds to free up cap space to begin with.

I'm doing a crap job of explaining it. Read this, it helped me understand: http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2015/6/16/8787581/phoenix-suns-salary-cap-update-free-agency-and-trade-primer

I read something a while ago saying the formula for winning championship is having a big who can demand double teams in the post (Aldridge). A defensive anchor (Chandler/Len). A PG that doesn't necessarily have to be a passer/ and can score (Bledsoe/Knight). And a defensive SF (Tucker). We got the recipe for success.
Man I was planning on going back to sleep, but I can't now. McD got me too excited.

You're 100% right. I was forgetting cap holds in all my calculations.

The Suns have to clear salary to make the moves happen.

I'd be open to Kieff+ maybe one of the protected MIA picks/or one of our own. But Bled is a ridiculous asking price when PDX knows they are out the running and are praying that LMA feels charitable enough to force a S&T to give them some assets (that is if he really wants to come here)
